I voted no but honestly it's close.  Davis isn't that much better.  We actually may be better off with Sherfield on the field though.  Too many miscommunication problems between Josh and Gabe.

I love Gabe as a guy I believe is a great teammate and friend to the players.  I also obviously love playoff Gabe.  What I don't love is his play outside of that.  Too unreliable. Him and Josh have not been on the same page all season.  Most of Josh turnovers are his direction.

Sherfield was an unsung hero this past week and had many key blocks/picks.  Obviously the whacky TD too.

    Stop

I liked the Sherfield signing, even said that I felt he could step in and replicate Davis production if Davis got hurt.  And I still think he could...HOWEVER...lets not let one sensational play over shadow one issue that has been in play throughout the season.  And that is that Sherfield and Allen have had some of the "not on the same page" communication things that Davis has had.

Now a big part of that could be simply Sherfield barely getting any reps to build that rapport, but I don't think that him stepping into Davis role automatically becomes a better connection in terms of those communication issues.

So...do I think Sherfield "could" be a  better WR2 in the playoffs if Davis misses time...sure, the potential is there, but also not sold that him and Josh have enough rapport to not lead to communication error turnovers like that has plagued the Davis Allen connection at times (38% of thrown INTs are to Davis).

My next thing is Shakir...if Davis misses some time (and I kind of would like to see the offense one full game with Davis out say this week), I would much rather see Shakir get a bigger slice of a role and have more plays designed and called for him.  Personally, I think Shakir could be a big producer if featured in an offense like how Nacua was for the Rams this year.  When I watch Nacua here in LA this year, I kept saying I don't see him doing anything that I don't firmly believe Shakir could do if he was in his role in LA.

So, nothing against Shefield, but I personally think that Shakir is the one we will see really step up more if Davis misses time, or at least I think it should be because him and Allen seem to be dialed in when Allen goes his way.

Alpha, I respect your opinion but what about his career suggestions he is anything more than a replacement level wr?

the Gabe hate (not you) has gone absolutely crazy on this board. One season of his career almost beats TS’s career.

The guy has one highlight-reel catch and we're anointing him the new #2.

Sherfield had 86 yards all season. Gabe had five games with more than that. Come on, people.

It’s absolutely idiotic and based on nothing.

he could make a few plays but saying he is better than a guy who averages 800 yards/ season (almost TS’s whole career) is just hating to hate.

If Bernard and Edmunds were both free agents this year who would get the bigger contract?

I think TE is really valued in the league. The bears run defense improved by almost half this year, which is insane (157 to 86 this year). They are very different players.

im blown away by how good TB has been. I still do have concerns of him holding up long term at his size and if we played a physical, running team (which there aren’t many of). I believe the Steelers game plan will be pound the crap out of the footbal

    Not the right numbers

112 tackles (best in 4 years), 69 solo

    7 PD

4 INTs (career high) for 61 yards

    1 TD

    1 FF

    1 FR

0 Sacks (never been who he is)

And MLB has never been a sack position. TB is a great blitzer.

  3. Honestly, it won’t be worse next year. Belichick was one of the worst GMs in the nfl. They are moving on from untalented Mac Jones and getting as high of a high pick as they have had in like 20 years.

they will be better next year. Belichick should have been fired after last year and some of the moves he made.

    Edmunds pff 56 (woof)

    Bernard 63

i see Bernard miss a lot of tackles at point of attack. But he’s far superior in impact plays. And also not looking like he’s dancing out there

OH and cap hit is insanely better for bills. That’s a bad bears contract. Flat out bad. They would honestly rather have Maine than roquan who will be first team all pro? Nonsense.

The Bears went from 4 worst to 12 overall in defense this year. I believe they were 5th the last half of the season. But MLBs aren’t important to defense.

Bernard has been amazing so I still don’t get the need to put down TE, who did nothing wrong while he was here. He’s a good player whose only crime is he isn’t great I guess.

  5. Bandwagon fan! Where was he for the Edwards/ Losman/ Holcomb years!

congrats to you & your wife. A great bedtime story would be the time you lost a bet on a bills message board to this super cool poster! Congrats again and good luck sleeping.

I'm so disappointed in you all.  About 20 congrats and no one commenting "do you know who the father is?" yet.

Just assumed it was Tyreek Hill or Travis Henry.

It is pretty amazing how many just down right terrible coaches in this league get rehired over and over only to be terrible at their jobs on yet another team, and yet get hire again…,

And I get it because I guess I’d want to work with my friends (and we would definitely get in a fight at some point).  But this is why the nfl hiring is messed up. The coaches being hired aren’t necessary the best ones. There are plenty of college/ lower tier nfl guys who would be much better than Hackett who just don’t get the chance.

seems like a good guy but he is a garbage NFL OC and it has been proven over and over again. There are a lot of really qualified guys who never get the opportunity to fail once because they aren’t friends with the right people. But I guess that’s life,

Lol who are these high priced guys on offense

When we spent the 2nd most in the league on defense this season?

    Am I being punked haha?
Basically, top 5 cap hits at QB, WR, C, & TE. Top 10 cap hit at LT.

our defense has old guys and a lot of injuried ones (Milano, White, the ghost of Von). Those 3 guys probably make up like 75% of the defense cap and they don’t play.

  8. Good question!

KC - the most garbage team of the mahomes era. If they somehow went on a crazy run, it would be like how can we ever beat them.

dallas - the deep throating by the media and seeing cryptic keeper Jones face everywhere would be annoying,

Miami - the thing about them being good (but frauds) is you realize they actually have fans and they are super annoying,

I was all on board with Cleveland or Detroit if we can’t but that would be one more team that wins it before us.

so in conclusion if the Bills don’t win it, I want no one to.

How did Mac Jones and the Patriots have the lead the entire game? Was it because of Josh Allen? Or was it because the defense allowed twice the average points to a bottom-3 offense in the league? Including an incredibly unclutch 2 minute TD drill to a terrible QB that lost his job a few weeks later.

Pats defense season avg: 21.5 points allowed

Bills offense that day: 25 points scored

Pats offense season avg: 13.9 points scored

Bills defense that day: 29 points allowed

So one unit won their matchup including a clutch end of game drive, and the other unit epically failed including an unclutch end of game drive given up.

I will give you that the Bills offense did give the Pats a short field starting at the 45 yard line, but they still way underperformed even including that fact.

This is where I think the team part of football gets forgotten. The offense was bad for like 75% of that game. Put the defense on tough spots (defense also has improved since that game).

zero excuse to let Jones to let drive down the field like that. But this year, given the injuries and high priced guys on offense (that matters), I expect a lot more out of the offense. It’s been really inconsistent for the players we have.

I’m surprised Salah still has a job. I guess it’s good for us he is still the Jets HC.

I think he is a solid coach and his specialty, defense, has been really good there. He got failed by Wilson and depending on a 40 year qb. If they had middle of road qb play, they would have made a playoff push.

I think Aaron Rodgers likes having a terrible OC like Hackett because if he can win with him, it makes him look that much better, it’s all ego with that guy. Hackett is an absolute embarrassment of a coach!! Seriously bad as it gets.
Great for the Bills though, I’m not sure even A Rod can win with him 😂

Rodgers just wants to have control over everything. Hackett probably lets him do whatever he wants and laughs at his weird thoughts.

  11. As someone who thinks he totally got scapegoated here, I would not want him as a head coach. Too nice. I think a team like the chargers would be his best chance. But they should go with an offensive coach and just hire a proved DC.

no one cares about that team anyways.  And they will be completely overhyped next year only to not do a thing.

  12. So you’re saying turnovers are important 🤔

The rushing stats is what sticks out to me, both running and defending the run.

I'd be interested in the passing stats breakdown too.

When you are winning, you rush more. Also, when you stop the run and make teams one dimensional, that helps your chances of winning as well.

even though it’s a passing league, it still pays to be as balanced as you can.

I can't see any world Allen has worse TD numbers and wins the MVP simply because of how much your team's record impacts the award

if Allen has fewer TDs we will win fewer games point blank period, meanwhile the Ravens are already a top5 scoring offense

The Bills could have put away games in the first half if there weren’t such an up and down offense. Teams naturally take the air out of the ball when they have leads.

  14. I remember seeing him on this giant bike on the beach in Cali. Seemed like the happiest man on the planet. Dude has found the foundation of youth but I’m shocked at how old he is.

a legit great coach who has nothing left to prove. He is still is one of the best coaches in the league. Seattle is about to get a huge wake up call.

Belichick now the oldest coach in the league.

    And sexiest.

Like Belichik, still think Carroll is a good coach despite his age.

But certainly get why the Seahawks want to go a different direction given the disappointing end to their season and as good as a story Geno Smith is he might not be the answer there going forward.

Belichick the GM killed Belichick the coach. He is one of the worst GMs in the league. If he focuses on coaching, he is still one of the best.
