The options are getting slim IMO. Still some hope for DeBoer and Elko and Freeman - but those options have miserable timing - if they aren’t laughable in the first place. Names now look like Drinkwitz, who will probably wind up at Florida or some SEC school. Brohm from Louisville. Key from Georgia Tech (though I’m not convinced he is interested). And then the dark horse - and my personal favorite at the moment - Ohio State OC Brian Hartline (but he has limited experience) None of them are surefire better than Franklin. But still, the move had to happen - sad as it is. The fact that Franklin still hasn’t put out a Thank You to Penn state fans and university is quite telling on how sour things got. At the end of the day - it’s still Penn State - and a top 10 job. If they can keep a significant chunk of their young players and get some momentum in the portal - they should be fine. It appears one of the biggest opportunities they don’t want to miss is that next year is a SUPER easy schedule - plus they are renovating the stadium. So finding a way to win next year and gain momentum is even more critical. We’ll see. But I do trust Pat Kraft to make a good selection.

Even more than the win - Bishop and Hairston have given me a lot of hope today. We’re going to need to see someone take the next step on DL here. But overall - a very positive win. Only negative was the Hoecht injury.

my guess is....these deals often have an off-set clause in them. So if he gets a new job, LSU "recoups" the buyout. Maybe this guarantees him $27M with no offset if LSU doesn't think he will get a new job...they save $$. Kelly can now go get a new job and not have to pay back the $27M in offset. im just speculating....could be 100% wrong.

Frankly, I dont see Brady at PSU. He does have connections there - and is a hot coordinator. But he really hasn't been a college guy - save one year as a GA in state college, and a dream year with Burrow/Chase at LSU. Old adage - surround yourself with great people. He has. Burrow, Chase, Josh Allen...who wouldn't be successful??? I dont think PSU is looking for a guy like him. Matt Rhule, Brohm, even Deboer or Drinkwitz is far more likely. The oddball here is how Pegula plays it. He is a HUGE donor for Penn State. So if he is pushing him...things get more interesting.

Yeah - Penn State fans are pretty much convinced it's going to be Matt Rhule. It's just too logical. PSU Alum. Worked with AD when they were both at Temple and have a great relationship. Would finally be able to connect the old guard to the new era. Probably helps a lot with donors. Most Penn Staters dont appear to love it though- but it sure does feel inevitable. Even when asked about it, Rhule didn't do the normal coach speak - he just said "I love Penn State..." I think the only way it DOESNT happen is if Nebraska doesn't finish strong. That Nebraska game in State College at the end of November should be interesting. Other popular name is Eli Drinkwitz of Missouri (and the added craziness that he could be Beau Pribula BACK to Happy Valley). Other than that...some speculation of making a run at Marcus Freeman or Kalen Deboer - though those both seem unlikely. And then there is always Urban Meyer...who would probably jump at the opportunity - but time has probably passed him by. The Oregon OC...Joe Brady...Manny Diaz...some other often tossed out names...but I gotta think its Rhule.
