To those who resent the idea of taxpayer money going to keeping the Bills in WNY -- give me a freakin' break. You are among the highest taxed people in the country and what do you have to show for it? A growing economy - nope. Rapidly increasing property value - nope. Higher paying jobs - nope. Top-notch infrastructure - nope. Corrupt politicians and wasted dollars - bingo. At least the taxpayers would have something to show for their money if the Bills stay in town.

He won't be around by the time we get our first 3rd round pick. Not running the 40 at the combine may have hurt him, but he'll probably do something between now and the draft to raise interest in him. Losing Reed and Moulds at the same time means we need a solid posession receiver. Evans, Parrish, and Aiken won't cut it, and I don't care for any of the WR free agents at this point. IMO, better to sign a couple solid free agent linemen and draft Avant.

Imagine running a large corporation and having 56% of your revenue going to payroll...

The only risk for the player is if he gets hurt this year. Otherwise, there will be no cap in '07 and the Snyder's and Jones' of the league will be throwing enough money at them to make up for it.

This is going to KILL the quality of product put out by the NFL for at least the next several years.

Schultz would kick the crap out of everyone on the list. He was a tough guy in an era when hockey players were men.
-
Klaus Meine - Scorpions This guy has better vocal range than most if not all on the list and has a classic metal vocal sound.

U2 is great ... The Edge is an amazing musician ... the 90's post-Achtung Baby were awful for U2 but since All That You Can't Leave Behind they are on a roll. McCartney was visibly annoyed with Jay Z's hip hopping in the background, but he and Linkin Park's singer sounded very good in harmony and they both appeared to enjoy singing together.

Van Halen Next "Rock Star" Reality Band?
MichFan replied to Rico's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I thought the Rock Star INXS show was very well done. They had more talent in their performers than on American Idol. JD was the right pick, and Pretty Vegas is the only good song on the new album. They should have waited longer to get more of his songs on it, because the stuff INXS came up with blows. The whole idea of Van Halen being the next band is ridiculous. They've had three singers, and now they are going for a fourth? I understand there is no going back to DLR after the crap he has pulled and the gayness he's conveyed. Gary Sharone is a cool guy who was wrong for VH. But Sammy Hagar and Van Halen are the perfect match. I thought they were back together again after their misunderstanding? They are going to ruin what's left of their reputation doing something like Rock Star. -
Love the Avant pick, just don't see him hanging around into the 4th Round. Too much risk taking Watson the the 2nd.

You can't keep a good man down!

Coming from the party that has elevated Byrd (former KKK clansman), Kennedy (involuntary manslaughter, drunk driving), and Leahy (proven leaker of national intelligence) to powerful positions in the wake of these problems, I think DeLay's issues are fairly minor. I guess if you're going to break the law in spit-in-the-face-of-the-Ten-Commandments fashion, the Democrat party is the place to be. -

What an idealisitc definition. Ironic too, considering the Democrat party has become the party of bigotry. -
Allegience to Bush now criteria at State Dept.
MichFan replied to TPS's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
So you'd rather hire people who might subvert the President and leak national intelligence in doing so? -

A positive funeral event ... imagine that. Last time I checked it was God's house of worship they were in. King = judge people based on who they are, not the color of their skin. Bush = placing the most African Americans in powerful positions for their abilities, not the color of their skin NAACP, Black Caucus = any black working for Bush is an Uncle Tom Seems to me there's nothing for Bush to talk with them about. When they are ready to accept the country's African American leaders back into the black community, perhaps there might be the beginning of a dialog. But for now, Bond, Sharpton et. al. are nothing but a corrupt bunch of money grabbers that have no business being in the presence of the President of the United States. You're right, we have come to expect nothing other than low class and embarassing behavior from black "civil rights" leaders and liberal politicians when given the opportunity to grandstand. -

You are right, they are an older organization. Funny -- I was a Southern Christian for 2 years and never knew there was a leadership conference I could attend. I cannot think of a single funeral for a Republican political figure where a Democrat president was directly and repeatedly confronted. Ronald Reagan's funeral was handled extremely tactfully by Republican figures but not by his partisan Democrat son. Richard Nixon's funeral contained no criticism of Bill Clinton. I guess I'm just scratching my head looking for a single example of Republicans using funerals in such a way. Link please? -

Thanks. I'll remember you fondly on PPP long after you are beheaded by muslim extremists for your avatar. -
Air America radio coming to Buffalo
MichFan replied to Apu Grape's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Air America in Buffalo ... whoopty freakin doo. I've tried listening just for entertainment, but it is so pathetic that I can't even manage to crack a laugh at it. There's a reason it is in extreme debt. WNY is about to find out. -

First of all, Bush should be thrilled that the worst president of the last Century disagrees with his policies. Jimmy Carter constantly tries to alter how history will perceive him by being the most politically active ex-president in recent memory if not all of history. This just hardens the image of him being a failure. A great, big, failure that should never have left the peanut plantation. Secondly, the religious figure who spoke is from the Southern Christian Leadership Coalition. Where in the farck do they find people like this? It's like this guy tried to be a televangelist but couldn't cut it on TV. So he comes up with some sophisticated sounding organization and starts stealing ... I mean gathering ... charitable donations from those who can least afford it. All of a sudden the SCLC is legit on the streets and the guy can represent at the funeral and bash Bush. This will surely raise revenues for his organization and line his pockets further. I'm sure the King's are thrilled about such opportunism at their expense. The Democrats continue to think that funerals are platforms for scoring political points. The Minnesota funeral and Ron Reagan's little diatribe at the Gipper's funeral blew up in their face. I'm sure this one will too. -
There was an article leading up to the season that described JP's life growing up in Cali. Let's just say it wasn't Huntington Beach high life surfer dude stuff. He grew up in an apartment taking care of his siblings while his Mother tried to make a living for the family.

Please, don't draft Gabe Watson. He's a really nice kid. He's got the size and speed. He just doesn't have the will or the heart. His commitment was lacking at the college level, how is he going to suddenly find it with the inceased demands at the pro level? I'm telling you, Jason Avant is the hidden treasure in this draft and if we can get him with our third pick we should do it.
-
Understand what you are saying -- Josh showed some flashes this year. But nothing to show me he will be a consistent threat the way he was envisioned to be. Jason Avant will be a playmaker and could be groomed to fill Moulds shoes. I'd just hate to see him slip away. For all the accolades Braylon Edwards got at Michigan, Jason quietly went about being a more reliable and dependable every-down player for the maize and blue. I want to see this kid on our roster.
-
Evans and Parrish give us speed, Moulds can still get it done, we need a Ricky Proehl type go-to guy who can pick up critical first downs. Josh Reed hasn't delivered and it's time to move on. Jason Avant is the man and would be a bargain with our second Round 2 pick if he's still on he board.
-
Nope, 37 going on 38. Unless you come from an Asian culture in which case he would be 38 going on 39 (babies are considered 1 when born). If he can still stop the run on 1st and 2nd downs, that's all I care about.

I feel much better today over the hiring of Jauron than I did on the days when Phillips, Williams, and Mularkey were hired. Wade was a hire him or lose him proposition, which rarely works out. Greg was a "wow what a great interview" hire, which rarely works out. Mularkey was a "let's be crafty and hit it big with an unheralded coordinator" hire which rarely works out. I'll give DJ some time to assemble a staff and then see if it looks like he's learned from his past experience (ala Belichek) or is doomed to repeating his past failures. At least there is some hope with this one.
