  1. Hey ndirish1978, how ya doin'? Sorry pal, I think that you may be missing the boat on this guy. Philly's eyeballing this guy real good. They are the exact team to select him. Strong defense, decent offense that likes a short passing game. Their TEs are either hurting and/or aging. This guy is perfect for them. I have alot of reasons for wanting the Bills to select him but I'll just say the main one. Mularkey. Here is the kind of coach who would really maximize Jones' abilities and talents. I would love to see a athlete like Jones showcase all of his contributions and not be wasted. Hey, what do I know, this Donahoe is probably going to draft a RB with our 1st pick anyways.

  2. I've thought about Fletcher, but then again I don't know enough about his replacement. The back-up LBs that are on the roster may or may not be capable.

Here's a scenario that may be feasible. The first thinng that would have to happen is making the TH/LJ Shelton trade and the swapping of the 2nd rd picks. Once that happens then we could package the #44 pick with Ryan Denney and our 3rd rd pick (#86). In return we would recieve the Colts' 1st rd. pick (#29) and their 2nd rd pick (#60). We then can proceed to take Matt Jones with the 1st rd pick and then select another DE with the #60 pick. There is more than one DE that could be picked at this slot. One that I'd be happy to have on our roster would be Oregon State's Bill Swancutt. This guy's motor never stops. His tenacity and work ethics are just the kind of guy you would want on your team. He's an animal on the field and the Buffalo faithful would go bonkers watching this blue collar workman going at it. Another prospect who could be there at the slot is Virginia's oft-injured Chris Canty. He has a ton of potential and upside. This guy is huge at 6'7". The injuries do scare me though.

This could be more than just a whim. The Colts have experimented with shuffling their D-line. They would like to move DE Raheem Brock to DT and relocate DE Robert Mathis to OLB. Denney could be a good addition for the Colts' and be tempting enough for them to contemplate this transaction.

We also have good, young prospects in our secondary, but this is a area that we may not afford. I really don't have a good enough idea on who's disposable and who is not. These scenarios are based on nothing other than my opinions, but I only offer these thoughts as a way to show insights as possibilities. I also bring up these ideas so others who have more knowledge than me, which should be many, could be creative in trade scenarios. Of course this is all predicated on Buffalo even wanting Jones in the first place.

  3. I didn't say anything about Travis Henry. I belive that the Arizona trade would have to go down and we swap the 2nd rd picks. With the #44 pick and a defensive player, who I asked for suggestions on, would get us in the neighborhood of value to the Colts. We would still have to add additional draft pick(s) from either this year and/or next year to make this an appealing trade for the Colts.

Now, who could we tyrade on defense and with what pick(s) in addition to the #44th pick?

  4. I'm pro-Jones, at ANY pick. The point is he is a extraordinary athlete. He has size, speed, and ability. It's up to whoever drafts him to utilize his talents and for that reason that's why i think Buffalo and Mularkey would be an ideal fit.

People have been clamoring for us to draft a O-lineman with our 1st pick. I don't think we will, especially if the TH for LJ trade goes thru. Even if it doesn't I wouldn't be surprise if there is other alternatives in free agency.

I do agree and would like if we were to address the need(s) to the secondary (CB & S), LB'er, and back-up RB/WR positions with our 1st pick. But make no mistake about it, this Jones is a special type of athlete. People wonder about his toughness? Not knowing too much about him but just knowing that he's a QB should answer that worry. Did you see the post that nodnarb put up on the highlights of the Jones and other draftees? Jones passed, ran and caught TDs. This is not a one dimensional player.

I've posted earlier that this game, athlete, league, strategies, schemes and any other darn thing that has to do with the future evolution of this sport will change. People like Kordel Stewart and Michael Vick have already started this process. Now there's Jones, Adrian Mcpherson and who knows who else is out there that's multi talented.

No, I'm a slow learner but I'm starting to realize that when it comes to Donahoe, expect the unexpected. If TD finds a way to trade up and then selects Jones, I won't be upset. I was totally blown away (very upset) when he picked MaGahee, but we see how masterful that truly was. If Jones is our 1st pick, I'll TD the benefit of the doubt this time. He deserves and earned it.

  5. You might be correct on that one Alaska Darin, but how about working a trade with Polian and the Colts. I haven't given it much thought on who but at least with the Colts it wouldn't have to be all draft picks. They're for some defensive players so maybe they could be a good trading partner. Anybody have any suggestions on who we could afford to trade on defense? Keep in mind, we could trade a defensive player and draft pick(s) from this year and/or next year. Remember, the player doesn't necessarily have to be a blue chipper.

  6. How did you like that we're "retarted"? That hurts my feelings, coming from such a vast fountain of knowledge. I read that message board on regular basis since of the possible trade of TH for Shelton. There is a poster that goes be lebo who absolutely hates TD, the fans, TH and western N.Y. You got to read some of his responses, you won't know to laugh at his bitterness or get pissed at his vileness. Apparently he was some media guy who had a little up and personal info dealing the the region, players and administration. He almost makes you want to respond to his garbage and throw some of his opinions back into his face. After considering this I came to the conclusion that it just isn't worth it.

  7. GET MATT JONES NOW!!! That's right, I was screaming that! What a athlete. Aw man, how does Buffalo find a way to get this guy? This is the kind of player that the Bills and Mularkey could really utilize. I've been eyeballing the Eagles' 1st rd pick(#31), trying to figure out a way to trade up with them. Rumor has it that they're going to draft Jones. OUCH!

Thanks for the link nodnarb, that was great!

  8. That had to be one of the funniest stunts I've ever seen on the gridiron. If Miami can't trade down they better take a QB with their 1st rd pick, this guy might not see the end of the season. Have you ever heard or seen someone knocking themselves out before?!!!

What is the most moronic act you have ever seen relating to a sporting event?

  9. I agree stuckincincy. It's best to dictate. Just some thoughts on how to establish that.

    a) Power ground game. With the beef that we're employing on the O-line and smashing Willis into them, we got the smashmouth game.

    b) Innovative play calling, especially at the proper time. This means no huddle offense, slash type plays and ONLY in between the 20 yd. lines. See thought A for inside the redzone.

    c) Execution. None of the above works unless the offense is crisp and not playing sluggish for the FIRST FOUR GAMES. I do believe that if we can execute the first few games and win dominately, that this will pay big dividends throughout the season. I do think this is going to happen.

  10. First off I would like to thank you for your response jester43. I won't profess that my theories are exact science, but I do want to advocate creativity. I obviously have an idea not the intricacies. I was hoping for some shouts from the Buffalo faithful for their creativity on ideas, formats and schemes. Things change and so will this game, league and athlete. I'm starting to think that I'm wasting people's time. I can promise you that that was never my intentions. What I will promise is that I will NEVER settle for complacency. If there will be no responses to this post then I'll just let this post die by not responding to it anymore. My hope is to be talking about this type of concept on the future of our franchise. Thanks.

  11. Say what you want about the Patriots but one thing that you have to admire is the fact that they win not with athletes or position players, but with good old fashion FOOTBALL players. What a novel idea. Of course this is a copycay league, so what are we waiting for? Realigning our current roster could also help gain more independence in the upcoming draft. It would be more beneficial to have interchangable parts than one dimensional players. One of the most appealing qualities of this coaching staff is their willingness to be innovative. From slash players to sprinkles of the no-huddle offense. I applaud the Justin Bannan experiment, even if it flops. Here's some additional suggestions.

After the trade of TH, fill the back-up RB position with Josh Reed. The hype coming out of college was his ability of running after the catch. I don't want to be derogative so I'll leave it to your imagination where the promblem lies. Let's utilize his greatest attribute and minimize his shortcoming.

I really pulled for Coy Wire. His attitude, work ethic and positive image is unsurpassed. But man, the only way that guy could get an interception would be if the ball got stuck in his facemask. The guy likes to hit and he played LB in college. Throw 20 lbs. on him and let him back-up Fletcher and stay on STs. Shoot, after the weight gain he wouldn't be a bad option as a back-up FB. I not sure about how good our other back-up LBs are (mostly because you don't get to see them play that much), but who does? Point is, I'm not that impressed with Posey so maybe it's time for a changing of the guard. Let's see what the young guys (Haggan, Crowell and Stamer) can do.

Wire, I think, has shown that SS is a struggle. Gain some size and start grooming Sam Aiken for the position. The goal is to try and add size at the back-up positions

Jason Peters has a lot of versatility. From running in short yardage situations (goal- line), to TE/HB, to even being the back-up at the RG position.

I would love to find a way to draft that Matt Jones. Could you imagine the possibilities with this guy? Don't get me started.

We got athletes, I'd just like to see them be football players. If our current players could be versatile, then we could have more freedom in the draft. After the TH/Shelton trade our O-line should be set, and if our players would provide depth then we would just be drafting for future depth/starters. Under this format I would think that a CB would be our first pick and the rest would be the best player available.

  12. Oh my gosh, a response! Let me just savor it for a minute. I was hesitant to post that thought but I couldn't resist. The possibilities are endless and very exciting.

I must admit, I don't know very much with the college players but I do (like everyone else) read alot about the upcoming draftees and these two are very intriguing prospects.

What I can tell you is, I was born and raised in Rochester but the last 11+ years I live in SW Florida. So I apologize but I don't get to see what anyone is doing or wearing in camp practices. The ironic thing is now that I moved, the Bills practices are only about 20 minutes from where I grew up. Now I'm about 100 or so miles from where McPherson grew up and played high school football. He's going to be quite special himself I would expect. That's just it, he's an exceptional athlete with amazing abilities, I'm sure as in Matt Jones (6'6", 40 yd/4.39, 242 lbs., 10' 9" broad jump!) also. These guys are really gifted. The difference is, on top of these awesome athletes, we do have a bold and courageous coach who would and could utilize these young men's talents.

As far as having any special plays drawn up, I really don't. I was hoping for some input because it is such a wild and radical concept. It's thrilling to just phantom the possibilities though. To give you a rough idea though, it would be along the lines of both QBs in the backfield with the proper linemen and then maybe a QB roll-out one way then a lateral pass back to the other QB (who also is very mobile) who either has the option of running or launching a nice long tight spiral to either Moulds or Evans. Heck, it could even be the original QB recieving the ball back! I've seen Elway and Kelly land up going out for a pass. Could you imagine Losman and McPherson/Jones hooking each other up? Whew, that would be out of sight!

Well anyways, that's basically what I was referring to. How about you? Any ideas? I probably wrote too much on my own post so I better shut up now and see if anyone else would care to comment. Thanks again for your reply. Have a good night.

  13. Could players like this be utilized effectively? And what kind of variations could be formulated with schemes and backfields?

The size, speed, and mobility of these two players and others like them gives me the audacity to daydream of the potential. It's completely unorthodoxed and probably (and rightly so) insane, but these ARE unique type of players and MM & CO have shown in the past to be bold enough to maybe contemplate such innovative play calling.

IF such a thing were to ever occur, I think McPherson might be the better suited player to be able to perform a multi faceted position. He has more of the attributes of a Michael Vick/Kordel Stewart. Between his arm and feet, he would be able to throw like a starting QB but be able to run like a RB. I'm sure the same could be said for Jones, but McPherson does have some arena league experience under his belt that makes him a little bit more acclimated for the next level.

It's a crazy idea but the intent of this post is to think out of the box. Professional football will continue to evolve and progress. There will be changes and differences in the future. Something just seems a little bit different with these two athletes. I think that they may be the beginning of a change or a start of a new athlete. As the players change, so will the game.

So even if nothing remotely close like this happens, how about a bit of creativity with designing plays for some formations and schemes. Be Sid Gillman for just a minute and come up with a radical offense.

Now, just let me change into my abestos suit before you all start lighting up your flamethrowers. OK, I'm ready.

  14. I posted something on Dayne before and I forget who said it, but they suggested both of those RBs. I have to say, I'd be happy with either one of them for a back-up. I think I would prefer Wheatley by just a tad. He's quite capable, the money should be a better deal than A-Train, and he's a bit older, shouldn't have to worry about discontentment. At the risk of getting torched, I'd be curious about William Green if he were to become available.

  15. That's too bad, I thought he would of been a good back-up for WM after TH is traded. Especially now with the signing Anderson, I would like for us to get another big power runner so when the line and Willis wear down a defense we don't miss a beat with a fresh RB with power. If TH does indeed get traded, who would be a good back-up?

  16. I guess I should apologize for the clarity of my post. Apparently I made a terrible stab at sarcasm. I never meant for us to REALLY sign Ogden and Pace. The point was that we had a really good addition to our team and people were unsatified and wanted something more. Sadly I'm coming to the conclusion that if we had a team of pro bowlers there still would be a segment of our fans who would be disappointed. The negative responses are either the result of trolls who are jealous of any improvement to our team or the pessimistic, never satisfied, kiss of death, speak just to be heard fan. If the Buffalo faithful should respond to such negativity it will only allow them to rear it's ugly head. From here forth I will no longer read or subject myself to such negative input on my beloved team. I encourage the faithful to do the same, maybe this way this type of poster will JUST GO AWAY.

  17. Great point stuckincincy. The last couple of responses that I read of yours on other posts were right on the money. I'm impressed. And also just how much influence will McNally have on Anderson is yet to be seen. I'm really looking forward to this season!

Oops! I just saw your response Dr. Fong. I think we can all admit that. I'm sure we're not done yet either in retooling the line. We just need a little more patience.

  18. It's so disheartening to see us go and try to upgrade our O-line. What did TD do this time? He did what? He went and got a huge guard that can only pancake people in run blocking? You got to be kidding? I'm so sick and tired of him! He has never made one good move since he's been here. This team stinks!

You get the picture. You know, some of you naysayers really make me laugh. Damn if you do and damn if you don't. I can't believe how many of you have been responding so negativitely. People have been crying that we let our LT go. Then we didn't sign this guy or that guy. Now, wait let me get this straight, we're complaining because we got a huge, smash-mouth, run blocking guard that was just recently a part of one of the best rushing yard seasons for a RB in the history of football?!!!

Another thing, please no more links to Ravens' message boards. Who cares what their fans think. They should be concerned with other issues on that team. The quality of the pass blocking of their FORMER guard should be the least of their worries. Bennie Anderson is a Buffalo Bill now and for the ones who don't like it, TOO BAD!
