Gase hated a lot of players: Ajayi, Suh, Landry, and Jordan Phillips. He chased a lot of talent out of there because they weren't "Gase culture" guys. I think he's a smart offensive game planner, but I really wonder about his emotional intelligence.

I thought the same. Maybe they thought they had a can't miss play given the NO personnel on the field at that moment and that getting it off and implementing it was a sure thing, partly because NO wasn't switching up and expected Philly to take it to the two-minute warning. As it happened, it was an easy throw and catch that should have pucked up 10+ yards.

I think the Eagles would prbably have won that game if Jeffrey hadn’t blown it. They had the look of a team that was going to score on that drive.

A 3rd year plan with no playoffs (accounting for the weird fluke that was last year) is unacceptable. Other new regimes pull it off all of the time by year 3. It’s on them to do it. Barring an extreme injury situation, no excuses.

As I said, I don’t like him, but I don’t think he’s low character. I think he’s a hardass player who plays with an extreme edge, sometimes to the point where he’ll cross the line. He’s a process guy in his own way. Gase totally screwed his managing of a bunch of combustible-but-good players up (ie, Suh).

Yeah, I don’t like the guy either. I don’t hate Cox. He was wild early on but evolved into an actual pro over time.

I don’t think landry is low character - i think he’s a fierce competitor who plays hard and with an edge. But the aaron williams play dooms his rep among bills fans.

I don't think he stinks as a college player; I think he stinks as a prospect. I also thought he was utterly exposed as a bad thrower when facing Auburn and Georgia, football factories loaded with NFL-level defensive talent.

You should familiarize yourself with DVOA. It's a markedly better method than simply using raw yards and points. As for Miller, you are repeating in different words what I actually said: the common ingredient being talent and the lack thereof. Denver is talented. That is my point. And they were the fifth best defense in football this season as measured by DVOA. Have you looked at the terrible qbs he had to work with in literally every one of his stops? Don't pass judgment on coaches without considering the players they have to work with.

It's not a terrible situation, I don't think. The D is elite (5th in DVOA and possessing terrific talent), and Fangio is a really good defensive coach. They lost a ton of close games this season and weren't far from being 10-6. They were a tough out for the teams that beat them.

Actually, the relatively talentless Miami D in 2016 finished 19th in defensive DVOA, the 2017 Broncos D finished 10th, and the 2018 Denver D finished 5th. The common ingredient in these rankings is talent and the lack thereof, which - to repeat myself - is something we fans factor in way too infrequently when assessing coaches. Statistically, the Bills offense was better in 2017 than 2018, but no one in their right mind would argue that Dennison did a better job than Daboll.

A lot of people thought he did an excellent job in Miami given the extremely low level of defensive talent while he was there. The consensus view was that he did it with smoke and mirrors given how bad the defensive roster was. It was much discussed at the time of his hiring by Denver. People focus too much on numbers/rankings without considering the talent a coach has to work with. I'm not saying Joseph is the second coming, but it is a fact that Miami's defensive talent was horrific in 2016, and they went to the playoffs.
