  1. Now this is my kind of topic, where do I begin?

Fantasia(1940) My favorite Disney movie of all-time.

    Great comedies:

Bringing Up Baby(1938) Grant & Hepburn in a great screwball comedy.

The Odd Couple(1968) Lemmon & Matthau. Classic comedy.

Barefoot in the Park(1967) Great romantic comedy with Robert Redford, Jane Fonda, Charles Boyer, and a hilarious turn by Mildred Natwick.

    Murder by Death(1976) All-star cast in a comedy/murder mystery.

    Thrillers:

Dracula(1931) Bela Lugosi. One of the best versions.

Nosferatu(1922) If you are ok with silent films, then you'll enjoy. The most frightening looking Dracula ever.

The Phantom of the Opera(1925) Chaney's Phantom is the best.

The Old Dark House(1932) Underrated James Whale picture with Boris Karloff. It's on dvd, check it out.

Cat People(1942) One of the best by Val Lewton.

    Westerns:

My Darling Clemintine(1946) Good early adapatation of Wyatt Earp.

Once Upon A Time In The West(1968) Great spaghetti western. Henry Fonda as the bad guy, Charles Bronson as the good guy, and Jason Robards is along for the ride.

    Science Fiction:

The Day the Earth Stood Still(1951) Great sci-fi, great robot, ahead of it's time.

Forbidden Planet(1956) Robby the Robot, The ID monster, and a serious role for Leslie Nielsen.

The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms(1953) Classic Harryhausen creature feature.

Them!(1954) One of the first of the nuclear disaster films. Also, one of the best.

I could go on,and on, but I don't want to make this post too long. Enjoy.

I am deeply depressed about this. With iving in San Jose all my life, this city was always in the shadows of San Francisco & Oakland. Then when the NHL awarded San Jose with a franchise, finally we were on the map, and no longer just the silicon valley. I love the Sharks and going to their games is always a blast. There are real hockey fans that go to the game to have fun, not to just be there with the crowd, as Stevestojan said the Panthers fans do. I have been to several playoff games as well, and nothing is more exciting.

I agree with you Mad. Bring in replacement players. Let's see some hockey from players who actually care about playing.

I want my Sharks hockey back.

    GO BILLS!!!!!

    GO SHARKS!!!

I was there the year the OV line and Arturs Irbe upset the number 1 seeded Detroit Red Wings in the first round of the playoffs. It was really something to behold. There are some good hockey fans in San Jose - most of them ain't FROM San Jose, however.

I will never forget that moment. Unfortunately I had to work that day, so I could only listen to the game on the radio. You are probably correct Darin that not all the hockey fans are originally from San Jose. We have lots of transplants. There are lots of Red Wings fans out here. I can tell you that San Jose does have lots of sports fans though. I could guarantee you that most 49'ers, Raiders, A's, & Giants fans come from San Jose. This city has turned out in droves for Sharks games since they got here. It's a shame that the one pro sports franchise that we may ever have in this city is in a corrupt league.

Definately, bad time management. I mentioned a few times at my house they should have spiked the ball to stop the clock or do sideline routes to go out of bounds. They could have had two or three minutes for their final drive instead of 50 seconds.

I was losing my mind with their nonchalant attitude. Five minutes to go with 2 TOs and down 2 scores and you're huddling? Uh, this ain't a meaningless game coach.

That was driving me crazy too. What was going through Andy Reid's mind? Why were they huddling while the clock was running? Why were they passing down the middle instead of towards the sideline? I saw no sense of urgency at all. As tough as they played, they deserved to lose for that inexcusable playcalling.

  4. That was an outstanding halftime show, definitely one of the best ever. Whats more amazing they only needed one person to do all the songs.

Good riddance MTV. It's good to see a show without Kid Rock or Sean Puffy, Puff Daddy, P.Diddy, or whatever the hell he decides to call himself Combs, "singing" and grabbing their crotches all the way through their act.

Also no 50 year old woman bumping & grinding with a 16 year old, and us having to see her nipple.

This has been one of the few SB halftime shows I've enjoyed. Just like the ones with U2, & Aerosmith. I also enjoyed a couple of recent ones with ZZ Top, and another with Shania Twain. Sorry I don't remember which specific Bowls they were.

Also that stage McCartney performed on was awesome too.

    Great job!!!

Looks like the NFL has learned it's lesson.

  5. I understand the whole team concept, but personally I love the introduction of each player from the starting O or D. I want to hear the player's position, college, & name. Then the crowd reaction. It's great. I wish they would go back to that format.

  6. If the Eagles are to have any chance to win they will have to get some great running out of Bryant Westbrook. The Patriots will be focused on Owens, and a running attack could catch them off guard.

The Patriots have been here before and know what the task is ahead of them. Protecting Brady & getting good running out of Dillon will be their keys to winning.

The Eagles are hungry and may want this more than the Patriots do.

IMO this is a Foreman-Frazier match-up. The hype is just that, hype.

    Patriots 34 Eagles 16

  7. Here is a look at who is eligible next year. Some very big names. Who do you leave out?

    Troy Aikman

    Warren Moon

    Andre Reed

    Thurman Thomas

    Reggie White

"Leon" Deion Sanders is also mentioned, but does he have to wait another 5 years again?

So there's the list, do they all get in at the same time?

Like I said, when the owners decide to use replacement players (it's coming, watch), the players union will crack. That's the way a lot of these types of things need to get resolved, i.e. a cold, hard, slap in the face to the players. Sorry that the players with their inflated egos think they should be making as much as the owners. The fact is, they shouldn't. If they don't like it, they can play elsewhere, or try to form their own league (ha, good luck!).

  9. It's official tomorrow. Here are my predictions. This is of course if 5 are selected.

QB Dan Marino. Like there is any doubt.

QB Steve Young. People will argue, but he's earned it.

LB Derrick Thomas. He definitely deserves it, and it'll be a very dramatic moment.

WR Art Monk. He has to make it in before Michael Irvin, right?

Contributor George Young. One of the seniors makes it in, might as well be this guy.

Sorry Harry Carson, Richard Dent, L.C.Greenwood, Russ Grimm, Roger Wehrli, & Bob Kuechenberg etc.

    What do you people think?

  10. I was home watching it. I remember OJ flipping the coin. I remember Tasker's blocked punt. I remember Andre having huge receiving day. I remember thinking we still had a chance after Reich completed the TD pass to Beebe, hey we had comeback from 32 points down only a few weeks ago, why could'nt I think we would comeback? Finally I remember it being a laugher. It was special when Beebe ran down Lett though.

    Sigh :D

  11. Definitely do the Alcatraz audio tour it is worth it.

The Cable Cars are nothing special, but go for it if you like.

If you decide to travel North of SF, I recommend you checking out the town of Tiburon. It's just past the Golden Gate bridge. It's a nice place to visit.

If you travel South of SF, definitely check out Monterey. It's a long trip about 80 miles I guess, so it could be tiring. When there, check out the Monterey Bay Aquarium, I believe they still have the great white shark there. Also check out Carmel and 17 mile drive, it's gorgeous. If Monterey seems too far, then I would suggest checking out Santa Cruz or Capitola.

I don't know if you have visited Califorina before or not, but you can not leave without trying an In-N-Out burger. There are a couple in SF, one on Fisherman's Wharf. The best fast food hamburgers in California.

If you want to have a romantic dinner, I would say definitely go to the Equniox at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. It's on the expensive side, but it's worth it. The Hyatt Regency in SF is where they filmed "The Towering Inferno". The Equinox is a revolving restaraunt at the top of the hotel. You get a grand view of the entire Bay Area. Here's a couple links about the place.

Thats all I can think of now. Hope you 2 have a great time.

Jim Brown was literally unstoppable. Between his running and pass catching ability Thurman rates on my list (I know... "homer" call)... and don't forget Gale Sayers... can't be called the best ever, but was sure special.

You got it posted before me Bill. Gale Sayers was an outstanding RB. Had he not gotten injured(was it an ACL tear that ended his career?) who's to say he would'nt have been the best RB of all time.

I'm a little more than slightly pissed that I had the opportunity (for the first time in about a month and 1/2) to watch Lost this evening, and it turned out to be a friggin re-run.

Anyone know whats up with this? Will it be new next week?

Lost will return next week, and there will be new episodes for at least 4 consecutive weeks.

He wasn't even a Jet's fan until he started getting publicity. He just tagged along with his brother to the games.

Some of the real Jets fans have told me that about him.
