  1. This is shaping up to be the most unsurprising and predictable GM hire in decades. I expect the Rooney Rule candidate to interview via Skype.

    Or be tricked via text:

Bills: Our friend Doug made THOUSANDS/MONTH doing almost nothing!!! Emailing PRON at work, chilling on his bosses YACHT! Getting crazy haircuts! CLICK HERE if you are interested!!!

Rooney Candidate: Who is this? How'd you get my #?

Bills: We're sorry, this interview is over.

  2. You really think Dennison doesn't have a feel for how Tyrod will perform after being his QB coach for an NFL season?

I sure hope so, but that's all it is, hope. It was 3 years ago, and for the record, Tyrod only played in 1 game that year and had no passing or rushing attempts, as far as I could tell.

  3. Roman has been skewered for limiting Taylor's playbook. That's an unfair take on Roman's handling of TT and the offense. Roman is a respected offensive coordinator who no doubt favors the run game more than most coordinators. He's now the OC for Baltimore. What he did exceptionally well when he was with the Bills is manage Taylor's limitations and exploit as much as possible his strengths. Taylor had half a playbook to work with because he couldn't execute the other half. There weren't many middle of the field throws or seam routes or second or third read passes because he wasn't good at that area of the passing game. Surprisingly, TT throws one of the best long balls in the game.

When a player playing any position has weaknesses/vulnerabilities as time goes by they will be exploited. What the Bills have done well in the recent past, most notably the run game, will be taken away. My concern with TT as a qb isn't that there are things that he does well, because he does do some things well, my concern is over the things that he doesn't do well and most likely will never upgrade enough in those areas to become a more well rounded qb who can run a more well rounded offense.

Thanks John, this post does a great job of summing up my concerns. What happens when/if Dennison finds out that TT can't/won't throw the ball to a receiver in stride or go to a second read? To me, how they handle TT, especially in regard to moving the pocket to open up throwing lanes and getting him to take a few chances is what's going to dictate how this season pans out. This place will explode if we take 1 step forward on D and 2 steps back on O.

At this point, I expect 0-16 going into every season. Just so I can feel good about finishing with 4-8 wins, and a playoff miss. :bag:

Like Confucius said, the eternal pessimist is the only man every truly pleasantly surprised.

  4. I was just thinking about the great mistake that the collective fanbase made when Rex was hired, and how we all assumed that our defense would be equal or better than it was in 2014 with him at the helm. This has me reasonably concerned that we are making the same mistake with the offense, assuming that TT and Co will be able to run Dennison's offense nearly as efficiently as they were able to run the Roman/Lynn offense. Where do you think that our offense ends up in the standings this year?

  5. My friend actually did spoil this for me. But, he said something like I can't believe Bruce Willis was dead in the end, and I never caught on while watching.

I had no idea right until the end, lol. But if it makes you feel better I was recently reading a very loooong book, and about 80% of the way through I was telling my old man about it and he said "isn't that the one that turns out it was the sherriff who was killing everyone?"

  6.

We not exempting him from the grammar police, ;)

We are just accepting it to try and keep the thread on track. ;)

Don't you mean we were excepting it? Sorry, couldn't help it. But for the record, this thread was already off the track when the OP created it.

  7. And you weren't happy when Wade, Williams, Jauron, Gailey, and Ryan were fired? Come on. . .they are good people. They have to tell their spouses they no longer had jobs.

How about players that get cut? I didn't see any weeping when Mario Williams, Mike Williams, JP Losman, Trent Edwards, Rob Johnson, etc. . .got cut from this team? People were celebrating those "firings."

Come on. . .save the lamentations for the ignorant.

Maybe read the whole thread instead of just the first post.

  8.

This is much about nothing. He's on the hook to give the memorabilia creeps 2 helmets and he tells the equipment guy to just give him a few worn looking helmets.

I bet nearly all of the crap those memorabilia guys sell to suckers as "game used" are totally bogus in that respect.

Who cares? Give someone their money back.

    Sweat DNA?

I guess it depends who you were talking to, if you were one of these guys who bought the helmet, you'd probably be legitimately upset.

On a separate note, does anyone want to buy an authentic game worn Tayrod Tyler jersey?

  9. @darrenrovell

Allegations against Giants in Eli Manning memorabilia lawsuit are specific and extensive

    http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/19153348/eli-manning-new-york-giants-accused-fraud-court-documents

Look at the context from this article:

"On April 27, 2010, Manning sent an email to Giants head equipment manager Joe Skiba asking for "two helmets that can pass as game used." The email was initiated after Manning was sent a note by Alan Zucker, his marketing agent throughout his career, to come up with some equipment to satisfy his obligation to provide such materials to sports memorabilia company Steiner Sports."

My guess is that Eli's camp is going to issue the following statement:

"Eli wanted the equipment manager to find 2 (of his many) actual game used helmets that were scuffed up enough to look 'game used', so that the buyers would have a more authentic piece of memorabilia. Any lack of clarity in the message can be attributed to the below:

  10. With the passing of Tom Modrak today it brought to light yet another side of Russ Brandon that is deplorable. You see, good old Rusty has a penchant for coming up with crafty nicknames for his coworkers.

He referred to Tom Modrak as "T-Mo."

Yes that is correct, "T-Mo." In the past Russ has referred to Doug Marone as "Dougie" and Doug Whaley as "Whales." When the Sabres honored Brian Gionta recently for some reason they released a statement from Russ Brandon where he referred to Gionta as "Gio."

Memo to "Rusty" or "RB" or whatever nickname you give yourself,

You are nothing more then a carnival barker. Stop making up stupid nicknames for your coworkers. Your act has worn extremely thin in this town and most of the sensible Bills and now Sabres fans would love to send you packing. The Bills have sucked during your time with the team and you are never held accountable even though you are the Managing Partner and President. Go away and take your stupid nicknames with you.

    It's ok Jeffro.

  11.

I never read the book, but I really enjoyed how the movie made it out that Jeremy Giambi, Scott Hatteberg and David Justice were the reason the A's were so good, while failing to mention having 3 CY Young winning pitchers or a MVP winning shortstop as a factor of success.

You don't win in the NFL because you have a roster full of under appreciated talent, you win because you have Tom Brady, Julio Jones, Cam Newton or Von Miller.

I read it (a long time ago) and I remember them obsessing over Youkilis for half the book, God of Walks, or something like that. OPS was the super-stat, if I remember correctly, and the key was valuing players by sabremetrics over old fashioned stats. Good read.

  12. While I'm intrigued by his upside and I'm rooting for the kid, I am concerned that with this signing I think we now have approximately negative seven comp picks.

No worries, I've been saving cereal box tops.

    The formula goes:

    15 free agents lost

    - 17 free agents gained

    - 2 net comp pick loss

    then:

    7,743 box tops

x 0.0004 box top to comp pick conversion ratio

    3.0972 box top

    - 2 net comp pick loss

We're back in the black, baby!
