That's how I feel. A heart issue is a scary thing and, in most cases, completely out of your control. If he was some slacker who wasn't worthy of keeping around, he wouldn't be here. Wideouts take a while to develop anyway, even when healthy. I'm glad they're not giving up on him.
-
Obviously, or he'd be on the main roster
-
Easley!!! Glad to see him back. I don't care what you hosers say, I'm rooting for this kid and he's not bothering anyone being on the PS.

Okay, check this out guys...watch how aggressive the Oilers D is in the first part of the game (note: we never got close to this level of pressure when Greggo was here)...the 46 is high rish, high reward....but if it the high risks dont pay off, then they have to play more conservatively. Montana takes a pounding and keeps getting up to make plays. Check out the shot of his elbow at the 3:29 mark! Lots of greats in this game, including one of the most underrated receivers I've ever seen in Haywood Jefferies. YOu also have the late Derrick Thomas, Marcus Allen, a young Blaine Bishop, the great Warren Moon, etc...truly a great playoff game. Those who got to watch Montana, Kelly, Marino, Elway, Moon, etc were really treated to some amazing football. It's interesting because Montana and Brady have very similar physicality. (BTW, Joe was around 37 y.o. here) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQ4VRgxBbHc

i never thought the Giants would win that game, I agree. Some QBs can take the pressure and overcome it, others will succumb to it and allow it to turn them into a mere mortal. Brady falls into the latter category. I use this example from time to time because I just don't think enough people appreciate it....Back in '93 Joe Montanta was with the Chiefs. They played the Oilers in Houston that year in the playoffs and Buddy Ryan had that 46 defense just KILLING people. I remember seeing that defense and being scared to death of the Bills going up against it. Montana was in his late 30s, playing with a good-not-great KC team, and he not only found a way to manage the pressure and get up after getting hit, he led them to an improbable win. This was one of the smartest, grittiest performances I've ever seen. Of course, later on he would have a meeting with Bruce Smith who would paste him into the turf at the Ralph, but how much can you really ask of the guy? I've seen every Brady playoff game of his career and I just can't honestly say I've ever seen him do this. LOL!! LOL....at least during the times when we're on opposite sides of the fence, it's still good for a laugh

I guess he better just hope he doesn't play the Giants...otherwise he'll be a big part of the reason why all of a sudden Bills fans are always saying how the Pats lost more SBs than the Bills.
-
Of course not...that's why we have discussions like this. So you think we should start a petition to have the trophy changed to the Belichick Trophy?
-
Yeah, but that's like saying Emmit Smith is the greatest RB of all time. He's the NFL's all-time rushing leader, but I don't know a lot of people who will say he's the greatest.

See Rob's House And in terms of how having to use "if only..." in arguments means it's a losing argument, just as someone could say if Manningham or Tyree doesn't make a clutch catch then the Tom wins another ring or whatever, I could just as easily say if Lee Evans makes that catch in the endzone the Pats don't even make the super bowl. You can play the "what if" game all day...it doesn't mean anything. Either something happens or it doesn't happen.
-
It's singling him out as "the greatest" that most of us take issue with....he doesn't deserve that designation and never will, IMO. Top 10 of all time, sure...top 5? Pushing it, but can make an argument. Greatest ever? No.
-
Woohoo! I got "sigged"!
-
I agree. I don't really like the guy (based on what I know about him...not that I know him personally) but I respect his game for sure. He's a rugged son of a gun and he's clutch. TD was really eager to trade up for him from what I understand...we would have been a completely different franchise if that had happened....and I bet TD woulld even still be here.
-
True, Ben is friggin great in those terms. I think greatness is determined by several factors. Ben was clutch in that Arizona super bowl...I thought for sure Warner and Fitz had put the game away.
-
Yep...can you imagine John Elway getting rattled? All you have to do is re-watch the Green Bay super bowl and you'll see what it looks like to "not get rattled".
-
It's not even close. Marshawn is a loser. He's likable a good percentage of the time, but he's a loser. I'd take Freddie any day and twice on Sunday.

I saw that the other day....that is pretty incredible. It's pretty funny when I think back to the field I played on for our varsity games compared to that.

Final say on the Paul Ryan pick...comes from Obama
ajzepp replied to OCinBuffalo's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
I think it's becoming less of a factor than it used to be, but Latinos often identify with "Catholic" much more so than "Christian" (even though Catholics are obviously also Christian). It's more of a cultural thing than a religious thing. -

Ryan being Catholic will certainly help with the latter. -
BILLS RELEASE MERRIMAN...
ajzepp replied to MARCELL DAREUS POWER's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
If you have breaking news, chances are you may be the first to post it. If it's a few hours old, most assuredly someone already has and any new threads will be deleted or combined. If the news is two weeks old, like the Merriman thing, people will assume you're on drugs. -
I thought Brooks was very impressive during the preseason, as I know a lot of us did. This is a real bummer...thankfully it looks like McLovin is going to bring it this year, though, so that keeps us solid through our nickel back. Williams needs to avoid regressing, though, if he's going to be a reliable starter.

This is more along the lines of how I feel...not just cause I grew up watching them play, but because it just hit me that the competition they played against was like much better back then since we had fewer teams and less parity. Definitely agree about Elway...both he and Mario were one man armies at times...each of them often had no defense and no RB worth a damn...they had some nice wideouts at times, but as far as a complete team? Nah.... And I rank Peyton up there because I see him doing the very same thing that Elway and Marino had to do during the 80s...take mediocre teams and turn them into playoff/SB teams pretty much by themselves.
-
lmao.... LOL, I was hoping someone else would throw in that last part so I didn't have to take the heat for it
-
A 16-0 team losing to a 10-6 team isn't a big deal? They were close games...point is, they shouldn't have been. Reference Brady's pre-SB interview when he scoffed at the notion that he would lead his team to only 17 points...he well expected to put up points and he failed to do that. If he had still won, it wouldn't really matter....but they lost...for the first time that season....and that is a huge blemish, IMO. If top 5 means "fifth", I could certainly put him in that sport...that sounds like a pretty good spot for him.
-
I don't think it's ridiculous at all. We're not talking about overall team performance, we're talking about individual QBs and their impact. Peyton elevated a pretty mediocre team to one that was a perennial playoff participant and eventual SB champion. Brady took a 16-0 team to the SB against a 6-loss team and failed to even maintain the same level of production as his position, let alone elevate it. It wasn't the Pats defense that lost those last two SBs. Take Peyton off the list...Montana alone is at a level above Brady, IMO.
