  1. I like McNabb too, but I don't think he's clutch at all. That's why I like watching guys like Favre, Rivers, Brees, manning, (Fitzy?) etc play...they all have a resume that involves come from behind victories and really making things interesting in the 4th qauarter. I have seen a lot of McNabb's games, since the Eagles are my favorite NFC team, but he's way down the list in terms of who I'd want behind center when the game's on the line.
  2. This is a bit of a tangent, but have you seen the trailer for True Grit?
  3. lol, that's what happened to me with 24! I don't remember EVER watching fewer than 2 or 3 episodes in a row when I was watching on DVD, so once I got caught up (start of season 5 or 6, can't remember), aside from the first week when they had the 2-night, 4-episode premier, I was NOT satisfied at al lol. The same thing sort of happened with Lost, but it wasn't until about 1/3 of the way through the last season when I got caught up . So I still had the first few episodes of that season to watch on Hulu/iTunes, and then caught the last handful of episodes live with everyone else. But I am really enjoying the tv-show-on-dvd thing...especially getting to have such a great selection available for streaming on netflix! hard to beat that
  4. Dang, looks like there are a lot of good shows on tv these days! lol Thanks for the continued suggestions...adding each oen to my list for future reference True blood I have seen a few times and really liked it. For some reason I didn't watch more than a couple episodes, but I see the potential there for sure. I watched the 2nd episode of Mad Men last night and preferred it over the first. I'll continue watching the rest of the first disc of season one and then see how much interest I have to keep going. As I posted in my other thread, I have The Walking Dead to watch now, too...I really enjoyed that last night.
  5. You guys will have to chime in once you've watched it. I watched it last night and felt it lived up to the hype. I thought the acting was very well done, the zombies were effective, and they did a good job of creating a sense of tragedy and human loss as opposed to just having a bunch of mindless zombies being lit up by anyone with a gun. I'm a moderate fan of zombie films, but I really enjoyed this. I'm looking forward to seeing the rest of the series for sure.
  6. It doesn't matter what the record is if we're able to discover/develop some of our younger players before the end of the season. Stevie is turning into a pretty damn good WR. Moats has shown some flashes with regard to his pass rushing abilities. We need to get some of our younger guys more playing time to see who will rise up and be our future. KC has a TON of younger players who are really shining. We probably have some more guys on the roster who will also come into their own with more experience. We need to give them the opportunity.
  7. And? Who cares. There are people on both sides of almost every single issue that gets discussed here. Some end up being right, some end up being wrong. You are seemingly one miserable MF'er.
  8. If you can't see the progress this team has made on offense, I don't know what to tell you.
  9. This is how I"m feeling now too...was very frustrated earlier, but we usually play like crap in KC. That team is on the rise and they have some nice young talent. We did well to stay in the game and put ourselves in position to win it. Gailey almost gave his former boss a big boot up his arse to stew over.
  10. I can't help but think that if I were a kicker, I'd like it when someone does that time out thing to me. It's like getting a warm up kick before the real one. It's pretty obvious when the opposing coach is goign to do it, cause he grabs the ref and stands right next to the dude waiting for the clock to run down and/or the offense to set. I'd love to have a practice shot before a big kick. Norwood maybe could have used one of those.
  11. Exactly, John. (Lakers suck!)
  12. I disagree about the Spiller pass, but that's beside the point. The biggest mistake Fitz made was the intentional grounding at the end of the game. It took away the FG attempt. But that being said, Fitz had us in position to win the game. If he can clean up some of these mistakes, especially the ones late in the game, he's a solid starter for us. We need more defense and at least one more solid OT.
  13. Fitz has had us in position to win the last two weeks against solid teams...he's not the problem.
  14. I was pretty damn frustrated with the 4th quarter today, as everyone else was, but the truth is that over the past few weeks they've given me exactly what I was hoping for before the season started. I knew we weren't going to make the playoffs, but I wanted to see a team that was competitive and entertaining to watch. Obviously we didn't get that the first few games, but these last two have definitely kept my attention. It's also been great to see the emergence of Stevie Johnson and the re-emergence of little Roscoe. I feel good about the opportunities we'll have to improve the team next offseason...if we can make quality decisions, then next year I think we'll be in good shape to make a little noise. Would I have rather they won today? Of course...but Baltimore and KC are two of the better teams in the NFL, and we did well to keep up with them on the road. I'm much more content with the way we're playing now vs. the crapfest we were watching the first few weeks.
  15. I'm sorry if someone already posted this, but I'm pretty excited about this show tonight. It's already receiving some pretty impressive critical acclaim, and some are speculating if it may be the scariest tv show ever. Not sure about that, but I'm psyched to check it out. It's a zombie show called "The Walking Dead". I think it's based on a popular graphic novel or something, I dunno. But it's on AMC at 10pm. Hopefully it's as good as the hype!
  16. HFBD Mead!!!!
  17. LMAO!!!
  18. I don't want the next Drew Bledsoe,I don't care what his numbers were. I want a winner who is clutch, and who knows how to win big games. Bledsoe was not that, and neither is Mallett. Bang and Dr. D: They had a 13 pt lead over Bama. Mallett did NOTHING in the 2nd half. Well, that's not true...he's choked and threw INTs. But we already HAVE a team that knows how to choke late in the game. We need someone who knows how to either protect a lead or ESTABLISH a lead late in the game...I'm tired of that schtick.
  19. Yep...two years in a row
  20. Okay guys, so I've decided to finish up watching the first disc of Mad Men since it's already here...I've also confirmed that Friday Night Lights is available for streaming in HD from Netflix, and I've added Breaking Bad season 1 to my netflix queue. That should keep me busy....I'll watch the first few episodes of each show and decide which one in my next time investment Thanks again!
  21. He usually does when he's playing an average to below average opponent. It's the big games when he chokes. Just like Drew.
  22. Wow, Bill...what exactly has this guy done that you feel this way about him? I just don't get it. He's a big, skinny kid with a strong arm. But what big game has he ever won? How many times has he taken his team on his shoulders and gutted out a big win? What exactly does he have in terms of football ability that surpasses what a dope like Ryan Leaf had? Some of you guys see an NFL caliber QB...but all I see is the love child of Forrest Gump and Lurch.
  23. Thanks guys, those are exactly the sort of replies I was hoping for....sounds like I should keep watching Mad Men to see if I get a little more into it since you guys are high on it. Buftex, I really like the Friday Night Lights suggestion...I LOVED the movie and for whatever reason never paid attention to the show. I've never seen a single episode, but that might be a good one to start up with since it's available on netflix streaming (I think). That would allow me to not tie up a mail slot and still have the show in high definition. I need to get my xbox hooked up again so I can stream! I'm also glad that you guys suggested some shows I've never heard of...I'm going to add those to my list for future consideration I tell ya, I hardly EVER watch scripted television, and you guys are the ones who have helped me to watch and enjoy the ones I mentioned in my first post above. Just like with music, the suggestions are always on the money here, so I appreciate it
  24. So over the past several years, I've gone back and watched a popular television show once the episodes were on DVD, and I have really enjoyed doing it this way. This worked well for The Sopranos, 24, Firefly, and Lost. Last night I was excited to receive the first disc of the first season of Mad Men, but to be honest I was thoroughly bored and uninterested after the first episode. I know this show has a solid following and critical acclaim, but I don't know that I'm really interested in this one. That being said, I know there aer other shows - particularly cable series' - that many of you really enjoy. What are some of the shows you guys feel strongly about? I want to start a new one, and I'm relying on you guys to help me out again. Some of the suggestions I've already received are shows like Weeds, Dexter, The Wire, and Pushing up Daisies. Please chime in in support of these shows or let me know if you have another suggestion.
  25. My last two cars have been used, and I've have good results. I don't know that I'll buy new again any time soon.
