  1. Ugh, that "V" show was a HUGE disappointment... Well guys, I watched 3 episodes of Mad Men with a lady friend tonight...and...we loved em. I'm gonna stick with it a bit longer. This Don Draper guy is a pretty interesting fellow. I don't know if any of you remember season one, but the scene where the wife was looking at the family portraits that had just been taken was HILARIOUS!!! The look on Draper's face in those photos had me rolling...and then there was the little kid who Ms Draper babysat for the divorced neighbor...that kid has some issues lol I'm gonna stick around through season one, I think...then decide from there. I've been very impressed with some of the better actors in hollywood gravitating toward tv series, I totally agree...that's partly what has led to my rekindled interest. Like Rico, I'm mostly a movie and sports guy. Over the past ten years or so, the only tv I've really watched was reality shows. I've just had some good experiences discovering some of the more reputable shows that you guys talk about from time to time, so I'm glad to be discovering some of these....better late to the party than never!
  2. Sounds like a good take to me...I'm glad I talked to you guys about this topic then, cause it really takes a lot for me to have interest in a scripted series...glad to know you guys are able to help me figure out where to focus my energy
  3. Wow, interesting. I knew that Cain and Lincecum were among the best in the league, but Wilson was pretty shaky against the Braves. I didn't think he was that solid of a closer, but I didn't really pay attention to this team until they made the playoffs. Anyway, congrats!
  4. She was just on the Apprentice the other night with those babies hangin out. You have any feedback on Mad Men or Friday Night Lights?
  5. Better than the Phillies? I dunno, Chef...I think the Rangers should have made more noise in this series, man. I thought that series was incredibly boring, whereas the Braves/Giants and Phils/Giants were both amazing.
  6. YOu said it, man...the friggin Rangers were a bunch of unmotivated NANCIES. The Braves are beaten up to hell, yet we gave the Giants a heckuva fight. I'm really disappointed in Texas...they ruined what was a pretty awesome 2010 playoffs.
  7. I love her generosity with the cleavage
  8. Congrats to the Giants and their fans...I didn't have a horse in this race, but I've grown to appreciate this team. They are a bunch of colorful folks, and they showed Bobby a ton of respect when they knocked out my Braves. They fought their asses off for this win...kudos to them!
  9. Well shiit man...I watched the first two episodes a while ago and stopped after that, lol. Now I may need to watch the rest of the first season since you said it gets better. Why do some of these shows suck so bad in the first episode or two?? I rely on them to set my level of interest dammit!
  10. Looks like the show did very well in terms of viewer interest! I'm excited to see the rest of the season http://news-briefs.ew.com/2010/11/01/the-walking-dead-premiere-attracts-5-3-million-viewers/
  11. I'm going to watch Papillion (sp?) tonight, and then I'll probably throw in the third ep. of Mad Men. If it is as good as the 2nd episode or better, I'll keep going. It's sort of like how I'm handling The Event. I've taken it episode by episode, cause I wasn't convinced it would be worth my time. I'm still hanging in there, but I'm not sold on it yet. I love the pace of the show and I like the alient / sci-fi angle...but who knows if I'll make it through all season. I really enjoyed the 2nd ep of Mad Men, though...
  12. I think we probably agree more than we disagree, it's just that I'm not a believer that you need Joe Montana in order to win superbowls. I think it's pretty clear that you can have an average, game manager type QB at the helm when you have other pieces in place. There are arguments for both sides of the issue, and both sides are valid. You have the Montanas, Bradys, and Elways winning SBs just like you have the Dilfers, Hostettlers, and Brad Johnsons doing it. My personal belief is that it's better to have a great defense than it is a great QB, so yeah, even though I don't think for a minute that Fitz is the 2nd best QB in the NFL, I think that for now he's "fine" as our starter. I think he'll put us in position to win games more often than he'll be the reason we lose. If the next Peyton Manning or Dan marino comes along in the draft, then great...take him. But I just don't know that that person will be there in this draft. So that being said, I say let Fitzy play.
  13. Okay, two points in rebuttal: First, it takes more than just one start to jump up into being the 2nd highest rated passer in the league after a handful of games. We all know he won't REMAIN at that level, but he's played decent ball since getting his job ack. As far as the Brees and Manning comparison, Brees had 3 years and like 30 starts before he started to become more accurate and consistent. If he had been all that great in the early part of his career, Philip Rivers would be on another team. I'm not saying Fitz will be the next Brees, but sometimes QBs deveop later on after they've been in the league a while. IF Fitz can maintain the same level of play he's been at the last few games AND he can fix some of the late game mindfarts, I'd have no problem keeping him as the starter for a while
  14. BPA on dline
  15. I believe in veteran QBs and solid Defense. I haven't seen enough of Luck's games to really be 100% confident how I feel, but I know that in the few games I have seen I had concerns about his ability to throw deep. I don't want the next Chad Pennington (even a mobile version) any more than I want the next Drew Bledsoe (i.e. Mallett). I'd rather focus on dominating players for the front 7.
  16. Yeah, it's not like we were playing for an AFC championship a few years later or anything back then...that would be RIDICULOUS!
  17. Mark: You're right, they did show a lot...maybe that's why I thought it was so intense lol. I've had a love/hate thing with the Coen bros, so I know where you're coming from. Typically though, my stance is that their stuff is almost always interesting and different, so I'll usually check their stuff out regardless. Thanks for the tv suggestions...I had no idea there was this much good stuff on tv...the list is getting very healhty! lol
  18. Seriously?? That is fuggin PATHETIC!!! What position on the field is less physically exerting than the damn QB spot?? The kicker isn't a real player, so that doesn't count. Holy crap, if those 300lb lineman can block their asses off and still keep moving down the field for the subsequent snaps, then McNabb sure as hell ought to be able to, as well. This is like the Shaq free throw thing except worse!
  19. Exactly, I remember sitting there, excited that the Eagles had a chance for a late drive to thwart the stinkin' Pats, and I was like, wtf is McNabb doing???" I didn't get it at all, but it was clear something was amiss. How the fug can you be "tired" at the most crucial stage of the BIGGEST GAME OF YOUR CAREER lol. He really let me down that day. I remember the T.O. comments, but did McNabb ever offer any sort of explanation himself as to what was going on? It was just weird to watch that whole thing...made me want to jump through the tv and onto the field and light a fire under his arse.
  20. Yep, my focus is entirely different. Wins and losses mean very little to me this season. That doesn't mean I didn't want them to win yesterday, cause I did. But I'm more concerned with getting the younger guys time to develop, figuring out which old guys dont need to be here anymore, and getting this first rebuilding year of the Nix/Gailey regime behind us so that we can focus on year number two when the evidence of improvement should be much clearer. But yeah, I'm thrilled we got rid of trent. I'm thrilled that Stevie is turning into a player. I'm really happy to see that Bell is potentially a half decent LT and we may just need to find a new R OT. I'm thrilled that E.Wood is back playing and getting his strength and endurance back. And I'm really excited to be able to be set with a nice group of young skill players on offense so that we can focus on getting some solid players in here on the other side of the ball. I don't really care if they win 2 games, or 5 games or whatever. We're not going to be champions this year. In lieu of that, I'm very happy with being competitive, which is what theyv'e been recently, and against good teams. I have my moments of doom and gloom, but I'm going to keep looking at the bright side and keep hoping that this ship will be righted. I will give Nix and Gailey some time to get things fixed, and as of today they have not been in charge long enough for me to start becoming pessimistic. I fell into that a bit during the first few games of the season, but I'm better now. They're playing with effort and the young guys are improving. I'm happy about that.
  21. One of the best things about being a Bills fan is that we've had, for the most part, many more character guys than we have character issues. I'd rather have a team I can be proud of and respect as opposed to having to tolerate douchebags in the name of another W or two (not that that's any guarantee of succes). Moss will find some other team to tolerate his crap.
  22. I saw it when I went to see jackass 3d last week...it was one of the more intense trailers I've seen. It's gonna be ridiculously good, It hink. Helluva cast. lol, exactly
  23. They're probably checking right now to make sure he's met the felony quota.
  24. Wow...I would think they'd suspend him or something instead of just cutting him...now he can go sign wherever he wants right? He'll end up being picked up my Miami or someone, probably make the playoffs, and maybe get another shot at the SB. What's that going to teach the guy?
  25. What the hell? At first I thought the vikes had some guy on their practice squad named Moss and this was a joke. WTF are they thinking? They gave up a pick for this guy, and Favre has been lobbying for him since his last year or two in Green Bay. WTF is going on with them?
