Marrone did go on to say something about timing. SJ's style of route running couldn't have helped on timing routes. He was certainly good, but at what cost do you keep him if our offense is predicated on timing routes?

Anyone notice this nugget in Marrone's presser? He said, and I'm paraphrasing, "there's no herky-jerk to him (Watkins), he's smooth and that's what makes him a very good receiver". Anyone else think that was a shot at Stevie Johnson? Don't get me wrong, I like Stevie, but I feared his route running would hurt a young QB's development and the offense as a whole and it looks like it did. That's why we got rid of him.

I'd like to see the Bills employ a lot of two TE sets. With this lineup we can run and throw the ball effectively. Our offensive line will be pretty good and Pettigrew is an excellent blocker. McCarron can push EJ, may the best man win.

When a player complains about PF in both his feet and misses 5 games because of it, teams will take notice when you're asking for that much loot. Their strategy could have backfired.

Byrd-to-Dolphins chatter a 'smokescreen' per Rotoworld. The Miami Herald's Adam Beasley is hearing that chatter of free agent FS Jairus Byrd landing with the Dolphins is a "smokescreen." The smokescreen was apparently leaked by Byrd's reps to the NFL Network, which reported Sunday the Fins were "expressing real interest" in this year's top free agent safety. It may be a sign Byrd's camp isn't satisfied with his contract offers to date, which wouldn't be shocking. Byrd is seeking $9 million per year. That's an awful lot to pay a safety with 4.68 speed going on age 28.

When your offense is going three and out all the time it isn't easy to stop people. Our defense is very talented. Like someone pointed out, we were without a lot of players on defense, such as, Byrd, McKelvin missed a little time, and Gilmore. Are you suggesting our defense is horrible? IMO we just need to fill in one or two holes and this unit will be elite. Poor QB play, the offensive line, and the lack of a true #1 receiver has more to do with our defense's struggles than anything else.

Not necessarily. If the wideouts are that much better than the LBers at 9, and they are, it would be stupid to go by need. I'd take Watkins or Evans over Lewan or Mosley any day of the week.

You can count Minnesota out for Vick's services. They just re-signed Cassel for two years. I still don't want him. Too late for that. I would've signed him prior to his signing with Philly, but now? No way.

Certainly there are other issues. I put the blame on our offense. If we were playing with the lead and keeping the defense fresh our run D stats would look a lot better.
