  1. BF3 on the PC. The first Modern Warfare was the king and I logged more hours of my life then I should have, but it's been recycled crap with servers populated by 15 year olds since then. Even the first MW was to much run and gun, but I found refuge in a tactical server. BF3 has it's share of run and gun idiots, but you can dominate them pretty easily.

Anyone else playing on PC, I'm Porter_JH. I'm usually on the 7cav server on weekend nights.

  2. Latrell Spreewell demanding a new contract because the $14.6 million annual contract was not sufficient "I told you I needed to feed my family"

Well I guess I am the 1% according to Kegtapper. Money is not a panacea for all your problems. This guy cannot be bought off. Greed, gluttony, and hubris are ugly traits of many

Sprewells reason was idiotic, no doubt. And money is not a panacea to all lifes problems but it sure as hell gets rid of one of the biggest. I've never heared a rich person say money can't buy happiness, but I've heard many lower class people say it.

I understand your point and know that the money is not being ditributed to the needy, but the greed of it all is what is disheartening I guess. A guy who is scheduled to make $23 million dollas for the next 4 years of his life is looking for something more "fair". Really?

Is it fair if you are the product that generates 600 million in revenue but your employer only pays you 1% of that? The person writing the check seems like the greedy one to me. Not saying the guy can't live off his current income, but I don't fault him for maximizing it.

We are in the midst of the most challenging economic situation in likely a century. People are struggling to find jobs, pay bills, put food on the table, and put gas in their vehicles for getting where they need to go. Then you have this. A guy who's salary will average $23,000,000 over the next 4 years of his life, but he and his agent want a new deal (I'm sure it's not for less money) or he will walk somewhere else that he/they can get what he/they want. Just say he brings home half of that after taxes. That would be $11,500,000. That is enough money to cover almost 350 housholds for a year, @ an average of $33,000. That would not be living it up by any means, but it is what could be done with that much money. But no, the two sides are working on a new deal that will be "fair" for both sides. dry.gif

99% of the 99% would seek as much money as they could as well. It's a rich guy trying to get more from an even richer guy, what's that have to do with the current economic situation? It's not like that money is going to be magically redistributed to the poor. He helps generate revenue, he wants a bigger piece of that, I'm not seeing your correlation here. Seems silly to us, but I doubt anyone would turn down a raise if they could force their employers hand for one.

  4. I have a 32" Vizio in my office, my feelings on it are....meh. It's ok, average picture quality but I wouldn't want it as my main set. I also have a 26" LED Vizio in my bedroom. I'm very happy with this set, very good PQ.

Both of those pale in comparison to my 46" Samsung in my living room. The Samsung blows both of them away. Before I bought the Samsung I would have said I'd be happy with a Vizio being my primary TV, but not now.

  5. get your **** off the deck, get your **** out of the basement. Which direction do your windows face? The wind will be coming from the south/east...

The wind will actually come from multiple directions throughout the course of the storm. Could easily be the north/west if the eye shifts a 100 miles. Don't bank on what you think the storm will do, prepare all sides.

  6. if you're downtown, best place to stay is the crowne plaza. it was the host site for the PGA Championship a few years back. it's not a "great" hotel, and the service in the restaurant was very, very slow. however, it should work.

another option is the raddisson downtown. i've never stayed there, but from what i saw from the lobby when i was covering some conference, it looked to be ok.

otherwise, i've got a pullout sofa in my hotel you can flop on. :pirate:

Just in case GG goes looking for it, it's not longer a Crowne plaza, it's called the Rochester Plaza

  7. Are you including the trimming etc? Either I walk really fast or my self propelled goes really quick, but my half acre is no more than 40 minutes walking. Maybe if you have a zero turn mower and no tress or beds etc etc in your yard a riding mower could faster, I just have a hard time seeing it. I had an acre last house, bought a Sabre that I was happy with, so I have to much experience both walking and riding LOL. Truly theu best is a lawn service!

Trimming is factored into the overall time, but the rider cut the actual mow time in half. I also have a hilly lawn so the self propelled went quick one direction, but was kind of brutal the other. The turn tight mower helps cut the time over a regular rider, like I said my neighbor picked one up and takes longer to mow, but even his time is quicker.

  8. I was going to start out with a self propelled and move up if need be, but everybody I've had over tells me to get a riding mower because my yard is so big. When I bought the house the yard was listed at a little over 1/3 of an acre but my visitors tell me it's more like 1/2.

I have 0.4 acres. Used a self-propelled for 3 years, took about an hour and a half per mowing. People are right when they say it can easily be pushed, but for me it came down to the time invested in doing it. I'd rather be spending that time with my son and not doing yardwork. Picked up a rider this year and haven't regretted it.

This is the one I picked. http://www.craftsman.com/shc/s/p_10155_12602_07128851000P?vName=Lawn+%26+Garden&cName=Lawn+Mowers+%26+Tractors&sName=Lawn+Tractors&prdNo=3&blockNo=3&blockType=L3

Go with a hydrostatic, I debated but am glad I did. Changing speed on the fly is great. This model is made by Husqvarna. I beleive the lower model Craftsmans are made by MTD. The turn tight is great too, I have a lot of trees so it really comes in handy.

My neighbor picked up a base model John Deere this year for $100 more than I paid and doesn't have the hydrostatic or near the turning radius I do. Takes him about 15 minutes longer to mow the same size lot.

  9. And how could I forget the Cadillac Hotel. I believe its a men's hotel, so you have to bring your hooker in through the back door or something. But nobody will judge you and there are plenty of needles around. Waste not, want not.

We could always recommend the 490 Motel. Rents by the hour so he could really save some cash.

  10. Not that close to drive after a wedding reception.

Depends on how many libations you plan on partaking in and if you can drive. A cab ride to the Del Monte would cost ya, but the drive would be nothing. I'm guessing you'll be drinking so.....

I'd recommend the Hyatt or Radisson if you want to be downtown.(and not because they are all that great, but the best with a lack of options.) I've never been in the Inn on Broadway but it might be worth a shot. Looks nice.

  11. A ferry would work in this community, the last one was just way to freakin big. 150 passengers sounds about right. As long as it is a private venture and NO public money is involved what is there to lose? The terminal is already there. If Enterprise or another rental car place set up shop there it would be more convenient for our Canadian friends as we know they're not coming to Rochester in most cases but rather the Finger Lakes and other areas. I know I'd prefer to hop on a ferry and relax rather then deal with the QEW.

  12. EVERYONE does a better 'plate than Tahou's IMO.. used to work near the corner of Lyell and Dewey, so the guys and I have had plates from numerous places in the area.. we had to stop going to Nick's after several bad experiences.. (typically, under-cooked meat or watered down commercial mac salad)

It's been a long time since I've been there, but I can remember my favorite plates being from Empire Hots in Webster.

Tahou's is kind of like the Anchor Bar. You have to go there at least once to pay homage, but then you realize other places have surpassed what they started.
