  1. Whaley drafted for need and yes, he was dumb for doing it.
  2. No, not because of one player. Because they trust their process and develop players into success stories. Patrick Chung bombed during his first stint in NE, left, and came back and developed into a very good safety. They took a gamble on Marcus Cannon who was recovering from lymphoma, were patient with him as he had a rough first couple of years, and watched him blossom into a fine young player whom the Bills would gladly insert at right tackle. Logan Ryan was considered a "reach" pick and had trouble getting on the field until last year where he proved that he had developed into a quality player (and they let him cash in elsewhere). There are many other examples. The Patriots acquire players with a specific goal in mind and they are patient in developing them. Again, you really should try focusing on what happens on the field. You might learn something.
  3. They accumulate draft picks and make strategic draft gambles on certain positions, because they can afford to. Do you actually watch football or do you sit there watching the other fans?
  4. Draft smart, versatile players who love the game and are not scheme-dependent. Put them in a position to excel by emphasizing their strengths and scheming around their weaknesses. Keep the scheme on defense simple. Invest more heavily in undervalued positions/schemes. Collect cheap assets through the draft and trade all but the most valuable core of them for younger assets (picks) when their price tags exceed reasonable replacement value, i.e., when it's time for their second contract.
  5. Welp. I believe it. Seems like a waste of a pick although they probably feel they're getting AP in his prime and they can build around a strong rushing attack. I would LOVE that. He is such an underrated back.
  6. What is their player development and retention strategy?
  7. Plus Saint Doug is a former TE coach. Good call.
  8. Good stuff, this looks spot on to me.
  9. There are folks on this board who believe that no personnel decisions matter until/unless you have a franchise QB on the roster. Those posters are incredibly misguided and annoying, but there are loads of them (some of them in this thread).
  10. JWill was my favorite draft pick last year. I don't understand what happened to him when he got to the NFL - his explosiveness was gone and he became fumble-prone. Hopefully he gets himself in shape and focused because the opportunity is staring at him.
  11. You KNOW they'll pass on the top QBs to pick a cornerback or WR. You and I both know it.
  12. Thomas could fall to 10 and make the Bills think hard. I continue to believe that SF has been smokescreening and likes Trubinsky (he's a Cousins clone). If SF passes on Thomas he could fall to us. He's not a position of glaring need but how do you pass up a player like him (or Allen for that matter)? You can't have too many impact defensive linemen IMO.
  13. Yep. But his mocks are historically bad, even for mocks.
  14. Things I can almost guarantee will now happen: 1) McCoy will miss games this year due to injury; 2) The Bills will draft a RB with a 1st or 2nd round pick in either 2017 or 2018
  15. It makes no sense at all, other than the fact that our GM is a glorified scout who loves his draft picks.
  16. The Bills' problem is that they lack a coherent strategy for building the roster and developing players.
  17. Would love to trade down with the Giants (who'll pick Howard).
  18. You are overrating the Bills' o-line.
  19. They have tactics. They lack a strategic plan.
  20. This is where you and I differ. I do not believe that the Bills' front office has a plan of any kind.
