  1. Hair stylist?
  2. Well, even though the consensus is that this isn't a terrific LB draft, I'd really have to consider one with the 1st pick. I know it's said that the Cover -2 style puts less demands on a CBs skills...but it's not run all the time - and the opposing offense can force one out of it. Losing Clements hurts. The WMG trade - whether one thinks it was wise or not - does seem to force their hand regarding getting a RB. I'd be very surprised if they expended their top pick on one - to me, that smacks of getting a flashy name to spiff up the gate. And I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't take a long look at CIN's MLB/OLB Brian Simmons, who they cut for $$$ reasons. Steady, reliable, and smart.
  3. Iffy linebacking - with no especial blitz skills. A college safety playing one corner, and possibly a little-used 2nd year man at the other corner. A #1 WR and a gang of three for the #2 spot. One hopes McCargo shows well - but generally, rookie or near-rookie DTs take time to get to know the ropes. So far, a collection of off-Broadway RBs are on the squad. Some wait-and-see is necessary before the new - and pricey - OL acquisitions pan out. Or not. And the OL bench is nothing that gives warm feeling in case of injuries. So barring developments before the draft, or plans to try for this or that vet as their cut-or-keep dates approach, I expect their 1st day draft to be something like OLB, CB, RB, OG. But you never know.

  5. How about Reed at LT and McGee at RG, then?
  6.
  7. RIP, Ernie.
  8. Indeed. I've watched most every pro game Washington has played in. He dropped to the 3rd round in 2003 because of a neck injury while at Tennessee. His talent and production said he would have gone higher without the injury concerns. His playing time was limited - playing behind Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmanzedeh. He's big (6' 3" 218 lb), fast, has decent moves, is a decent if not spectacular blocker, and does well after a catch, including not shying away from putting a lick on a defender. Ever arrested? Not to my knowledge. Attitude - a cockiness not uncommon among NFL wideouts. We'll have to see if he has fully recovered from the bad hamstring he suffered a few games into last season.
  9. Optimists shall drown in a half-full swimming pool. Pragmatists will be eliminated in the most cost-effective fashion. But if you are a pessimist, any surprise is by definition a pleasant one.
  10. Hello, gringo. I see you have changed your sig line.
  11. Give you a sledgehammer.
  12. Is the rookie salary cap allocation increased for how many picks a team has? Even if they are acquired via draft day trades? I've no idea...but if not, you would be divvying up the pie to more folks, and the higher picks might be then thinking about playing contract hardball. BTW, Bill - you were right and I was wrong. FA guard salaries did increase, as you asserted.
  13. I think it was more that a murmur. IIRC.
  14. Considering how many folks here seem to endlessly wail that a rb's YPC is of supreme importance, his 3.5 YPC last year doesn't get-it-done.
  15. So, gastroenterologists must be the advance guard, and those of us who have had colonoscopies...hmm.
  16. Quite so. Fellow small-market club CIN (they and BUF were the only two to vote against the new CBA) re-signed QB Palmer, WRs C. Johnson and Houshmanzedeh, RB R. Johnson, FB J. Johnson, and LT Jones, RT Anderson, and RG Williams to contracts last year and the year before that will keep them all on the club for a long time.
  17. Was he used as a blitzer from time to time? If so, was he an effective in that?...just curious.
  18. Can he play MLB or CB or OLB?
  19. Well, don't complain if a game comes along and you end up with the roster's latrine orderly manning the LT position, or the safety with the behind full of splinters playing linebacker. Such does happen from time to time, which is why having 5 rbs on an active squad is a rare thing. If five are carried they might be darn good ST'ers, but if they have to carry or block or catch...yikes! It may happen, but I can't think of a club that kept so many. I sure wouldn't.
  20. That's as good as any, Bart. I like the OG inclusion...even with the recent OL acquisitions, it pays to get into the business of grooming players for down-the-road duty. A CB is certainly a need, as is shoring up a thinnish LB corps. If they end up with a RB "committee" before the draft commences, a decent pass-catching FB like Rutger's Leonard would be a nice player to have. I guess he wouldn't fit with the so-called "value charts", but having a reliable FB with good hands and blocking skills sure helps - IMO. Players like Lorenzo Neal now, and former player Sam Gash and Larry Centers were/are big contributors. And FBs seem to not be injured much and have long careers.
  21. How much does a second song cost? I'd pay money to watch you sing "Seasons in the Sun". I'd videotape it.
