  1. Give me a GM who can draft either one.
  2. In addition to a bigger and better 1T, we need a bigger MLB with range.
  3. I wish it was only one, but we need at least two more difference makers. Cripes, the Eagles may win the SB and they have two rookie CBs. A dominant DL either through the draft or FA. Then a standout LB or DB. It'll be difficult. I actually think Cooper is a legit boundary WR but I'm not sure Brady can scheme him open. We definitely need the wide receiver we thought we drafted last year.
  4. He is deserving. If you take him away, the Bills would be pretty lost. Now let's upgrade the supporting cast.
  5. Normally I agree, but Washington this year definitely made it well past league average. I'm not sure about Drake Maye, but its possible.
  6. I had some friends over for that game. We barbecued while watching the Bills kill the Raiders. I left feeling rather confident about the super bowl. I rewatched the game last week for the first time. The Raiders QB was spraying the ball.all I've the place and Lofton was awesome. Norwood, well, you could tell.
  7. That might get us over the hump. I'll be very surprised if Crosby gets moved however.
  8. I desperately wish I could agree with you, but let us look at who was on the 88 team: Kelly, Thomas, Reed, Hull Smith, Bennett, Talley All elite in my book, multiple difference makers and HoF. In addition you had Ritcher, Metzelaars, Conlan, Odomes, the list goes on. Unfortunately, the 88 team had waaaay more talent.
  9. This captures my thoughts almost exactly. I like the term "difference maker". These are players that can take over a game and have to be specifically game planned against. Allen is the only one we have. The Chiefs have three. To me, elite is the same as very good. I think Benford and Cook are very good. Cook really looked great in the AFCCG. Taron Johnson has stepped back a bit and Milano has not quite made it back to where he was pre-injury. Dawkins and Brown are close enough that I'll call them very good. We need difference makers, especially on defense and at WR, and the best way to get them is via the draft. A FA difference maker is crazy difficult and expensive to get. Von's contract and subsequent injury and lack of production is an excellent example of how difficult is, although you could argue Saquon Barkley and Derrick Henry showed it is possible.
  10. No. Give him at least one more year, and if it don't improve get rid of everybody (which I doubt will happen). The safety situation was shaky at best though Rapp was ok most of the time. CBs can't really play man, that's not Babich's fault. And it's the way to play KC. LBs are quick but undersized and both starters were out of position too much most of the year pre-Milano. I don't think that's all coaching. DL needs size and talent upgrade. Need a great defense heavy draft and some luck with FA signings.
  11. I was just about to make almost this same post. Look up his career if you want some depressing reading. Schottenheimer never could get over the hump.
  12. Go fishing and then take a multi-week overseas vacation in February. It's good to be retired! Folks under 40 - it'll be ok. With an average life expectancy you may see a Bills super bowl in your lifetime. Yesterday wasn't so bad for me, maybe a 4/10. 13 seconds was about 8/10 because for a moment I actually thought the Bills would win. Super Bowl 25 was at least a 10/10. Maybe 14/10. It was rough. I was going to tell the story here if the Bills had won yesterday. I hope to get the chance someday.
  13. I agree. All this is just venting of frustration.
  14. I watch a lot of the NBA. Coaches get changed out there pretty often, even for teams close to the top. Cleveland is a great example this year. Milwaukee last year and there are many others. Even Boston.
  15. He makes good veteran acquisitions (Von Miller is a big exception) but is lousy at drafting outside of Allen. He's gotten some good late round picks (Milano, Benford, Shakir) but his first 3 rounds have been bottom quarter of the league. (This is not a knee jerk reaction, this is exactly what I've felt for a couple years BTW.)
  16. I get your frustration. But we played a lot of man to man yesterday. Which is what we needed to do against KC. Problem is we don't have the players with sufficient talent to play man to man. Ol Prime was quite the man coverage dude. I was amused when I heard him say recently "Prime don't play no zone".
  17. I was wondering if they would try Ingram yesterday at some point. I'm glad Benford has several months off. He didn't look good.
  18. It wasn't Allen's best game. But if we had a decent defense, it's a different story. He just has such a small margin for error because we cannot get key stops in the playoffs against the best teams.
  19. I thought Cook played great. I noticed Oliver make a few plays. But Miller did bupkus and he was joined by a long list of others. We need a talent (and size) infusion, and it really needs to be via the draft with our cap situation. But I don't have much confidence in it happening.
  20. Simple. Don't put yourself in a position to be vulnerable to a call / spot or two. Shouldn't matter. This team is not good enough and not well coached enough to win against KC if KC brings their A game. Easy example is we were almost unstoppable this year on the QB sneak and KC basically kicked our butts. Inexcusable from an execution and imagination standpoint IMO.
  21. I usually sleep poorly or hardly at all after a game like this. But I knew what would happen as soon as it started with the way the defense looked. Hang in there young folks, maybe it'll happen someday. I doubt I'll ever see it. Oh well.
  22. The talent on this team is just not good enough to overcome KC and we have one difference maker on the roster. You need year one starters from your first and second round picks, and you need at least a couple difference makers on the roster. Outside of Allen, it hasn't happened. My main tenet is there is something fundamentally wrong with Beane's drafting/ talent evaluation for early round picks. Is it the scouting? Beane himself? McDermott wanting small quick guys? I don't know, but the defense just does not have what it takes to get us there. It took a couple miraculous plays by the offense to even get us close today. It's been the same story for several years now. We need some talent margin at multiple places across the field, especially to overcome superior coaching.
  23. I might throw in a late round swing at a bigger bodied LB, but otherwise that list is good. How about starting by getting actual starters and maybe one difference maker in the first two rounds...outside of Allen, it's been one misfire after another for Beane. There is something fundamentally wrong with their talent evaluation on early high value picks.
