Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 2
MikePJ76 replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall
I am a fan of Darius Slayton and have seen rumblings he would like to be moved. So I am all in on trading a round 5 maybe potentially a conditional 4th for Slayton if the Giants want to move him. He fits the outside speed role you are referring to and he can actually catch. If MVS is out for a month or something they are in a real bind. They are going to have to trade for someone and at least Slayton is an average wr who has a really good trait. -
Hardy, Ingram, Davidson and Andressen looked like NFL players last night. Ray Davis has shown enough that I would not even play him in the next game. There is no need. Solomon looks like a player to me also but its a long season and its risky to cut a guy like Jonathan for Solomon knowing that he is going to go through the rookie wall at some point. Those last few defensive line spots are going to be tricky and I think the offensive line spots are going to be very tricky also. Offensive lineman get signed when they are waived. Unlike WR, RB and Tight End where every team has the same types of athletes who get cut so you can sign your own guys back to the practice squad, Offenisve Line is the spot teams are digging deep on every roster to find players.

Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 2

OMG Coleman has not dropped anything. If he had a decent qb playing with him these past two weeks he would have had two TD's. He doesn't because of two horrendous throws. Worthy was wide open on what looked like a blown coverage. Other than that he had two other plays, one should not have counted as he was moving forward before the snap, so much so that trent green laughed during the broadcast, it was clearly illegal motion on worthy. his other catch I saw he fumbled and got lucky the ball came right back to him. If everyone here wants to be a chicken little over worthy that is their right. The bills got Coleman and Carter out of that trade. -

You guys have got to get a grip here. That throw was horrendous. Bill Walsh rule of throwing a slant (or most passes) SIX INCHES in front of the numbers. Also the first thing they are told is to never throw it high. This throw was high and away. It was terrible and it wasn't a spiral. Jerry Rice wasn't catching that ball nor should he have been expected to. and for anyone who needs to understand this please go buy and read Tim Layden's "Blood, Sweat & Chalk". on Page 99, Mike Holmgren tells a story, during practice one day Montana threw a pass behind Rice and he reached back and caught it and Holmgren yelled to Rice great catch, Bill Walsh came running over and screamed at Holmgren that it was a bad throw and quarterbacks were to throw passes SIX INCHES in front of the numbers. That is where a good ball is. If they did not the assistant coaches would feel BIll Walsh's wrath and then they would go after the players. so in a nutshell, Trubisky's pass was awful and its Embarrassing that so many fans and media members can not see this when it is plain as day. -
Good Night / Bad Night - Pre-season game 2

There is zero chance knox gets traded. He is a core part of what the offense wants to do. Its like saying we are going to trade cook because davis is here. They are in year 2 of building a physical running offense. They finally have the parts to do it and I am baffled why people can not see this and think trading knox is an option of some sort. This kind of stuff and the reaction to the horrendous throw on the endzone backside slant to coleman last night leaves me pretty perplexed as to what people are seeing or not seeing when they watch the games. -

this is probably true. They have numbers at Offensive Line, Tight End and running back. They are going to have to cut good players there. They are short on players at safety because of injuries and now possibly at wr. not to mention they must be frightened with the way Trubisky played tonight. also what happens to gilliam? -

anyone who tells you coleman should have caught that should not be listened to. That was not a catchable ball, it was terrible. QB's are taught to never throw slants high. Bill Walsh had a rule with slants that they should be 6 inches in front of the player or a foot in front of the numbers I think he always said, so they can accelerate through the catch. In the endzone situation like today the ball should be between the numbers or down low where only Coleman could catch it. how this is even a discussion is baffling to me. Anyone saying it should have been caught either hates coleman and is looking for fodder online or doesn't know that much about football and is outing themselves as naive. -

he has been released a bunch of times. Seems unlikely this year though. He is a smart player who can read the defense fast and make the right throw, his downfall is he has a weak arm and in Buffalo's weather in a 3rd and 12 type situation he doesn't have the ability to break off that 15 yard skinny post between a linebacker and a safety. He is a good smart qb though. reminds me of a poor mans wade wilson. He is much better than Trubisky. -

Vegas qb situation looks as bad as Pittsburgh's. -
this is true and all organizations know it. however if your starter goes dow for say 4 weeks you would like to think you can still get good enough play to go 2-2 and stay in the race. that is probably why so many teams keep the Trubisky's around. He looked awful today.

Trey Lance stinks again tonight. He throws a slant as poorly as trubisky does and his terrible throw just got their tight end schoonmaker lit up -

yea well a case could be made the AFC North has never been better and the conference is ridiculously tough. The AFC right now feels like the NFC did in the early 90's. Tomlin's day is coming. -

Thad Brown has no idea what he is talking about. He should never be listened to on any matters of the nfl if he really said this. Rule number 1, one of the first things qb's are taught is never to throw a slant above a wr's head. Its dangerous for the player and for the ball to be tipped in the air. The ball is to be between the numbers or down low where the wr catches it going to the ground. Thad Brown is either looking for attention on social media and/or has no idea what he is talking about. -

that is a terrible pass. That ball has to hit him between the numbers or down low. Not to mention it looked like phil niekro threw it. textbook definition of a medicine ball. If he goes all out and extends he is going to get hammered.- 163 replies

Jerry Rice and Steve Largent might have gone without a catch tonight judging from how bad trubisky was. -

Trubisky was awful tonight he was taking the snap and staring at guys and holding the ball. That can't happen from a veteran quarterback playing in a situation where the team needs him to throw the ball to the wr to figure out this is going to go. imo, they should have come out forced Coleman the ball over and over to get him into the game. Throwing the ball to knox is great but the team needs to see coleman and others get experience. -

well I disagree. Rush can read a defense he just lacks arm strength. He went 5-1 when Dak was out two years ago. Davis mills has the tools at least. -

Cooper Rush, Davis Mills, Tyson Bagent, Ryan Tannehill, Nate Sudfeld and maybe tommy devito etc they are into trubisky for nearly 3 million this year so he is not going anywhere unfortunately -

i'd rather have a kicking tee that the rb's could just pick up the ball off of. seriously the bills can do better than trubisky. There will be better players available that get cut in two weeks. -
