  1. Not fact. And not important matters, IMHO.
  2. It's not a fact, it's just my opinion. They asked him about drug use back in 2000 (when these allegations were first popping up) and he said something like "I've acknowledged I made a lot of mistakes earlier in life but that's all I'm going to say about those mistakes." I think that was appropriate. If I had to guess, yes or no, I'd guess yes. It's not a secret that he made a mess out of his life.
  3. Son of Late Officer Questions Memos For the record, I think Bush had a pretty lousy showing in the National Guard. And I think a few years later he used cocaine. But I'm not enormously concerned about either because (a) he's never, to my knowledge, tried to brag about his National Guard service and (B) I think he hit rock bottom a long time ago and decided to turn his life around (probably right around when he met his future wife). As a political issue, I just don't care. The only reason I'm interested in this story is because I do not trust the mainstream media. I'm interested to see if they forged these documents. I don't know one way or the other. But I am interested.
  4. Another analysis along with the credentials of the man who performed the analysis
  5. If anyone bothers reading that first link of yours, it takes them to the Powerline Blog, which has mostly info that brings the authenticity of the documents into question. Funny how you picked out only the one snippet that helped you and ignored the rest. Thanks for the 'lemmings' quip. I made it pretty clear I was taking the reports with a grain of salt (and that everyone else should to) but I guess that's not enough for you. Even entertaining the idea that they might be fake is stupid. "They're real." "What if they aren't?" "Why are you questioning documents that we already know are real?"
  6. She looked great in those pictures. Not just that - she looked like a girl you might actually meet in real life and not the fake, plastic Barbie things in Playboy these days. The bad news is that Robin and Nick now know we're all perverts. Actually, they probably knew that before. How could you not?
  7. OK, things that happened 30+ years ago aren't too relevant to right now. But forging documents in 2004 - that's relevant. '60 Minutes' Documents on Bush Might Be Fake Take it with the appropriate grain of salt. Nothing about the mainstream media surprises me anymore, especially 60 Minutes, so who knows? I almost don't want the documents to be forged just so that I can have the piece of mind of knowing that CBS wouldn't use forged documents to attack the President. EDIT: There should be a question mark in the Thread title. It should read "Forged Documents?"
  8. Heh, if only. The mov-op-ed-umentary got slobbering reviews when it was released - all basically "Who cares about accuracy? It has an important message!!!!!!!" Also, the reason "Saving Private Ryan" lost Best Picture a few years back was that it was basically hammered by the foreign voters who chastised it as being "too pro-America." Speilberg's shot of the flag waving to open the movie cost him an extra Oscar that year. Imagine that. Tying in what our flag stands for with the sacrifice of the men who died in WWII. How awful. /sarcasm
  9. Leave Nozzlenut alone, it's been a tough couple weeks. And Hot Pockets rule.
  10. That must have been a funny warning. "Hey, sorry we ignored this for 8 years. You might want to look into it though. Probably nothing, just those guys who bombed the World Trade Center and the USS Cole. I mean, no rush, we could've gotten Osama ourselves but we didn't think it'd look good. Alright, talk to you later." Bush didn't do a good job but saying Clinton tried to warn them is so laughable.
  11. Gosh, how many threads like this are we going to have today? "Bush isn't using a bio-diesel bus." "Bush would have jumped ship if there was an assassination attempt at the RNC." "People on the other side of the world want Bush to lose."
  12. I've heard there is a waiting list for basically all the hybrid cars that are available (and those that will be available). The only bad news is that supposedly hybrids now are twice as likely to have engine problems as conventional cars. I suspect that will even out as they become more accepted and we get a few more iterations. The same way CD players were less likely to skip a few years after they were introduced. This is great news.
  13. Yes. No. I don't know. What?
  14. You're kidding, right? You didn't want there to be plans in place to protect the President in the event of a terrorist attack? Were you surprised such plans existed? The President's job is not to be macho or 'go down with the ship' if someone makes an attempt on his life. His job is to stay alive so he can run the country. I expect every president to have such a plan for every public appearance. I'd rather not see any Presidential assassinations.
  15. Ben Barnes, the man with the 'bombshell' info on Bush's time in the National Guard, is a top Kerry contributor. JohnKerry.com I am sure Dan Rather will ask him about this tonight.
  16. Does anyone here actually listen to Limbaugh? Seriously, I haven't wanted to hear a word out of him in years and I haven't. You have to go out of your way to hear what Rush Limbaugh thinks. Michael Moore is all over the place on TV. You can't avoid him. And then you have all our favorite (completely out of touch) celebrities preaching his virtues. Fox News serves its purpose - balancing out the equally biased mainstream media including the New York Times, Associated Press, Boston Globe, CNN, and MSNBC. How can anyone have a problem with Fox News existing. It's another outlet that you can avoid with ease. It has no effect on your life if you don't want it to.
  17. Totally agree on that one. Moulds needs a few more really great years and, probably more than anything, playoffs stats and exposure.
  18. Don't laugh but Moore has worked hard to cultivate and maintain that slob, everyman look of his. He doesn't look like the corporate man he's become. He has teams of lawyers and fact-checkers, publicists and spokespeople. He's not the guy off the street working for the oppressed, but he sure looks that way. I read somewhere that Moore claims to be overweight because at one point he only had a minimum wage job and could only afford fast food. So his obesity is further proof of how America holds down the poor. Of course it is.
  19. The new National Guard stuff is good overall. Plus that story is pretty old. Are there still people out there who could hear this for the first time and really be affected by it? Same with the drug use accusations. That stuff was around in 2000. I remember hearing the President Snowman jokes back then. The Graham book is the worst but it's also the millionth book of its kind - basically the "60 Minutes Bush Bash Book of the Week". BTW, is it normal for sitting Senators to publish books on the work they're doing? Seriously, seems weird....
  20. LOL, you're on fire today!
  21. I heard yesterday with regards to the "Is the Country on the Right Track?" poll that Bush's number (43 or 44%) is better than Clinton's in 1996 (39%). Makes me wonder if *any* president is enormously popular or accomplished following his first term. Seems like every 2-term president gets the bulk of his accomplishments in the second term. Emphasis on "seems like" as I have no research to back this up.
  22. Beyond lame. Is there anyone in America who would change their mind for someone like that? Oh, and now he's anti-war again. Apparently it was the "wrong war at the wrong time," though he didn't specify the right war and when the right time was for that war.
  23. Yes, you beat me to it.
  24. WHAT? A Muslim cleric and spiritual leader advocating the mass slaughter of children?! And planning a celebration for the third anniversary of 9/11?!?! I am shocked - SHOCKED - at what I'm hearing! /sarcasm
