  1. Great episode. I love how when people do impressions of John Travolta it's basically always Vinny Barbarino.
  2. You really think people think like that?
  3. Yeah, telling an old man he would've made a great president is a scandal!
  4. Hurley mentioned the "Doomsday" button two weeks ago. The monster has almost entirely been removed from the show since the first half of season one. I'm worried that the writers started something they really don't have an ending to.
  5. Wow, that's quite a jump all the way over to the "We were told we'd be welcomed with flowers" line. Not sure what that has to do with people calling our soldiers "war criminals" when in fact we've been fighting one of the most careful wars of all time for two and a half years now.
  6. Amen. Exactly.
  7. All I'm saying is that no one should be in a rush to label the guys actually doing the fighting and trying to survive as "war criminals." If they decide to use WP instead of carpet bombing, I'm in no position to say "Choice A was wrong and choice B was right." And I could care less about international law on the matter.
  8. Every now and then it's also a war for Israel.
  9. I love how all the people who never die a single minute of military service are okwy with telling the guys on the front lines being shot at what they can and cannot do.
  10. Would it have been better if we'd used more conventional weapons to completely level the entire city before going in? I know if I am ever killed, I hope it is by a very common, off-the-shelf weapon and not something like WP. EDIT: From the article... If the WP prevented the coalition forces from using a lot more high explosives that could have caused many more civilian deaths, isn't that a good thing? I mean, again, we could have just carpet bombed the whole city and avoided WP altogether.
  11. You were the first one in the thread to bring up "international law." Post #16.
  12. You know what would be great? If the guys behind the show remembered that there's supposed to be a monster on the island. When is the last time any character mentioned the monster that killed the pilot? This doesn't cross Charlie's mind or Kate's mind? It was only a month ago, supposedly. Locke came face to face with the thing in the fourth or fifth episode of the first season. What gives?
  13. Link So in a "normal" year, over 36,000 cars are torched in France?
  14. We already got the allusion to Bush's "cronies" so all we're missing really is the "H word" and something about oil.
  15. Yeah, that's why it happened.
  16. Democrats should not be held responsible for what they say or do. It's not their fault. It's Bush's fault. Somehow.
  17. Anakin was a jerk in all the prequels. After watching Episode II, was there any question he was an whiny, evil monster? He wiped out an entire village including woman and children! And apparently his future wife wasn't bothered by this at all. Episode III was the only one where I felt any sympathy for him but then again that's the only one where they let Hayden Christianson act.
  18. I've been in love with that actress since she was on Titus. She makes me happy. (Just nobody tell Mandy Moore about this.)
  19. That's a pretty safe bet. There is something about the island where boats (like the French woman's and the Black Rock) and planes (like the drug smuggler's and flight 815) tend to end up there when they shouldn't. GREAT EPISODE! This episode definitely helped make Ana Lucia a better character and gave us a lot of info on The Others - specifically, our first "interview" with one of them. They're collecting the "good" people? WTF does that mean? Also, Ana Lucia and Libby were looking extra hot. And two straight Boone flashbacks. Sort of.
  20. Go ahead. Dress up. Put on your cologne. Hold the door open for her. If she's like most pretty girls in their early 20's, she'll run away screaming. Meanwhile, here on day 458 of preparation for the day I meet her, my plans of dressing like a slob and bringing a switchblade on our first date are looking pretty good. I may also eat with my hands and fake illiteracy.
  21. I thought the last hour of Sith was more powerful because I knew what happened after Sidious/Vader succeeded. Plus the ending with the twin suns on Tatooine brought everything full circle (from SW to Sith). George Lucas basically shot himself in the foot with ROTS because it showed he could make a really great Star Wars prequel, which made the other two (lousy) prequels even less excusible.
  22. The best way to watch the Star Wars movies is as follows: Star Wars Empire Strikes Back Return of the Jedi (pizza break) Revenge of the Sith the end.
