People expected like 10 sacks and 50 pressures  because of the backup oline. This is a classic case of fan perception/hopes vs. reality. We got pressure against the Dolphins and dominated their line in the run game (2.1 YPA rush is a great mark for the D line). A major reason we didnt get even more sacks and pressures is because the dline was focused on run stopping first and not pinning their ears back to get after the QB (game plan specific). We will see a different plan from the D-line this week I can gaurantee.

I can see lots of twists and crazy looks at the line of scrimmage to confuse our linemen.

Actually, the Bills utterly dominated their o-line. The Dolphins averaged a measly 3.3 yards per play and gave up four sacks along with a large number of pressures.

I knew the average per play was way low.  We have some on our site touting a 3rd string QB put up so many points on the Bills.  I copied a post from here showing the incredible field position Miami was gifted.

I saw the 4 sacks but that doesn’t say if the pressure was constant. I only watched the last half of the 4th.

Do the Bills have more pressure from the ends with Rousseau or middle with Oliver?

The Bills may fall on the other side of the coin...they may play too aggressive with leads and allow teams to come back too often. Like against GB and Minnesota.  It's kinda like with the Bills now it seems no lead is safe. I mean we are up 17-0 on the Fins last week with a 3rd string rookie QB and all we had to do from that point is not turn it over and we likely cruise to a victory and yet there we are chucking the ball up 60 yards downfield like we are trying to beat them 55-0. Almost came back to bite us in the ass.

Wow, I think many of us would enjoy that problem, for a little while anyway.

We haven’t played very well in a month, other than the shortened MNF game we have not been dynamic.

We struggled running the ball before the injuries.  I’m concerned it will take a combination of hero play by Joe and mistakes by the Bills to win this game.

How do Cincy fans view his weapons?  In the sense that Burrow will likely get the new wave of QB contract approaching/exceeding 50M per... It's hard to imagine he'll ever have more weapons than he does in Chase, Higgins, Boyd, Hurst, an invested in OL (injuries not withstanding) AND a top 10 caliber Defense.

Is the consensus that Burrow will elevate those around him?.. because the weapons y'all have are as good as it gets this side of San Fran.

It's what we've gone through all year with a heavily invested in defense and halfway though the year we're out here wining and dining OBJ and signing Beasley & Brown because Allen is throwing to Diggs, unproven slot WR's and a guy who apparently only dominates in the Playoffs.

It will be interesting, ownership is openly pushing a Mahomes type deal.  I could see $500M over 10 years with rolling guarantees that would keep us in really good shape the next 4 years.

My question watching the Bengals fairly regularly is why do they seem to disappear on offense in one half most games?  It's like they go from looking unstoppable to doing nothing or go from doing nothing to looking unstoppable. With the weapons they have on offense which might be the best in the NFL, it seems a little odd for that to happen so often. It's like for what they have offensively, you would think they would be better than they are. Not that they aren't really good, but for instance you would think they should be Chiefs level good.

That will be Zac, our HC gets so conservative with just a 7 point lead it is maddening.

You can bet we will never lose a comeback from 27-0 like the Chargers as we slow it way down too early.

We would love to have some romps like the Bills have had.

  5. It’s called hyperbole and that day the “Skylar is so much better than Hundley” was a lil crazy.  And yes I was peppered with a ton of reasons why the Bills are so much better than everyone else.

I will say there were some that were very hard on the team and the coach that day as well.

But I’m glad you feel better…..

I know this game. The football gods aren't going to take pity on your faux self doubt and grant you with a win.

We have 3 backups and a 4th round rookie on the oline. One is a guard playing tackle.

We haven’t run the ball well in a month before the injuries.

    Nothing faux about it.

dude you're on a message board of bills fans and beating your chest. i'm mocking sports behavior, i'm being entirely over the top because it's entertaining, and frankly i don't care what a fanboy of another team thinks.

it is 1 thing that you do not believe the player rolled into allen intentionallly despite photographic proof.

it's another thing where commons sense says those degens who post on football message boards represent less than 10% of the population.

the 1% of that population that chooses to go to another teams board to "chat" before a game is ridiculous. Save for a few fans who generally stick around to discuss football all year round and not fanboy constantly - it's few and far between that any opposing fan is relevant to the 10% of a teams fanbase.

i would expect the same or worse treatment from bengals fan on the kittyboard.com bengals fansite.

Guy, you are actually the most condescending ass here.  We have some idiots on our board but you can’t help yourself with the derogatory remarks.

You said you wanted to talk football and asked me to respond even after your asshatery.  And I did.

yes, I may have gotten myself into a behive of not the greatest posters here initially.  It was all “Trey is dirty”, Skylar is way better than Hundley, nonstop reasons why the Bills are the best team…

Since then I have chatted with several excellent posters here.

my genius of football is not something i think. it's something i know.

the bengals have been to a super bowl... what like twice? how many rings do you have? together with the bills they show....0. perhaps that's why there is such disdain for your team. they're millenials and zoomers who believe participation trophies are merits of success!!!!!!!

this game is your super bowl. it's what they're acting like to finally get the revenge they think they deserve.

and i don't care about "your" website reference. if they're too dense to understand satire and fan speak then i have a rude awakening for them but not surprised because i have spent much time in Ohio. there is little joy there. the whole cinci area is just a suburb of gahanna and the greater columbus metro. at least the north side of cbus isn't so awful - worthington and such is nice.

the new cat toy is old now. sorry bud, have a good day

So you practically begged me to debate your "expert analysis of my team", I provided a courteous response to each point you made and instead of actually discussing football you do this?  A white flag emoji would be good enough.

So if you're here to talk ball, be the bigger guy, let it roll off your back and show what you're here for.  Otherwise you gotta see that posters like myself who are here to talk ball. look at your little jibs and put downs and understandably think you're here on an opposing fan board to start something vs. to share info.

You mentioned that Burrow has a bunch of INTs off tipped balls.  Allen does also, of course.  Any feeling on how many of Burrow's 12 picks are off tips, and were they tipped at the line or in pass defense?  I would say usually tipped at the line for Allen, though the WC game featured a pick that was deflected off the receiver's chest/defenders arm.

This season, Allen went through a bunch of inexplicable, WTF? interceptions where Bills fans were "what are you DOING?"  He had some inexplicable throws in the dirt, for example, and one was picked off on the GB goal line by Jaire Alexander; Allen said he was trying to throw it away but I don't think most people believe that since, from the GB3 Allen could easily hurl it through the back of the EZ.

You probably heard some stuff that he tore his ulnar collateral ligament and was thought to need to miss 2-4 weeks; he played that week, but his play was off for a while, lower passing yards, lower completion %.  Weather played a role as well - cold rain; snow; bitter cold and wind - but Allen has shown before he can play in weather, so some think the UCL was bothering him and still might, though to a lesser extent.   Allen asserted that it didn't bother him during a game, but before the Miami game our OC Dorsey praised Allen for "getting to the point where he can do everything and make all the throws he needs to make" and it's really only the last couple games that the deep ball has re-appeared.  There was a stretch week 11-14 where I don't think Allen completed more than a handful of passes more than 20 yds.  Of course this coincided with some bad weather games as well so Who Knows?

But the ol' Arm Cannon appears to be in good fettle right now.

Allen is an alien, simply a brute and fun to watch.  He's my second favorite QB.

    1 hour ago, JohnBonhamRocks said:

Ok but you ignored the part I put in bold where you say Allen’s only trait better than Burrow is his rushing, which also implies both can throw it a mile.

Not even really arguing with your point (to me they are both elite passers so Allen’s running ability makes him an overall slightly bigger threat at QB), just pointing out what you’re saying has been self-contradictory.

Sure, "trait" was the wrong word as a cannon would be a trait, but as to passing stats is what I was referring.  Josh is fantastic and the better overall football player I just like our guy's accuracy and pre-post snap abilities.

Your posts were stated in a way such that all, or at least the majority of us, were over here making far-fetched claims. It’d be the same as me coming here saying “Chiefs fans are over there calling Hamlin ‘Deadmar’,” when in fact I only read it from one poster - and I came back here and relayed that information truthfully “one of the fans over there…”

Don’t make it sound like we’re all clueless over here. I liked that you were contradicted by one of your own who said “I read through about 8 pages and found them all to be reasonable for the most part.” But hey, if you think a negative experience with a couple fans here represents the majority of us, then do what you do. Take that info to the jungle. Vilify us all. Go Bills!

I do not disagree with this and that most of the posters here are very good and knowledgeable, I will go as far as to say that and even the inhospitable ones are sound in their football understanding.

Well, no, but you might ack that people interpreted you as they did, because of how you wrote it, not "LOL" at them.  It's not a matter of my liking, after all, but of writing being how we convey ideas.  Like when I write confusingly (which happens more often than I'd like) and people misinterpret I'm like "I could have phrased it better, this is what I meant"

To put a little ball in here, I would agree they are both excellent, but very different QBs.

You mentioned Allen fumbling.  I haven't updated it but about 3/4 of the way through the season I went through and binned every fumble into 3 categories:

    1) QB center exchange

    2) sack

    3) while running

The finding was that very few of Allen's fumbles this season have been on runs (hope that continues, as he did have ball security issues as a runner earlier in his career).  The largest number were on the QB center exchange, with strip sacks #2.  The cause of the QB center exchange problems, were getting down to our 3rd string center in a couple of games, and also Morse (starter) trying to play through an elbow injury/come back a bit too soon.

Hope this is sort of the content you came for.

Definitely good stuff, Josh seems to get pounded by the media over these.  I do get it, Burrow has at least 7 interceptions that were tipped balls.

I suggest you read what you actually typed. I’ve went over just to see what posts look like in found you saying that we all think that Skyler Thompson is a good quarterback, you know damn well there’s nobody over here saying that.

Au contraire my friend.  I was told by 3 posters here that Skylar was good and is tiers better than Hundley. I absolutely disagreed, but yes there were members here saying this.

You’re condescending and obnoxious. There are several fans of other teams that we consider part of this community because they don’t start ***** and then play victim. You’re blindingly biased toward the Bengals, which is fine—- but you post those biased opinions here and accuse Bills fans of being “fragile” (clearly a projection, which is why you can’t stop posting until you prove us all wrong) or not knowledgeable about football when they disagree so realistically, you’re just a troll.

You might want to look at your initial comments to me and stop playing the victim?

I have posted replies to comments to me.

And as to my bias?  I have mentioned repeatedly the issues the Bengals have and that the Bills should win this game.

It's this kind of thing.  Whenever something is directed at you in the least little way, you one up on the personal attack.  "little fella"  "a few fragile ones like you" "if it hurts your feelings" blah blah, I'm not motivated to do the sort of research I used to but it's caught my eye because it's piling up.

We've always welcomed fans of other teams who as the guidelines say "come here in the spirit of good sportsmanship and with the intent to exchange good dialog with Bills fans".

I can't fault your responses to boyst 'cuz pugnacity is his schtick and "find what you bring", but it's otherwise getting a bit deep in here for "just here to talk ball".  At least, when I walk into a room of strangers and want to establish my cred as someone who's here for the discussion the phrasing quoted above is not how I'd go on.

It seems more of an "I want to get in your face and bump chests and establish I'm the big dog" kind of behavior

JMO take it or leave it now back to talk ball.

This poster isnt as aggressive as boyst but he has mocked my comments and tells me to go away.  I probalby went too far but it is so unnecessarily childish.

  16. 6 minutes ago, Beck Water said:

Um... if you mean that Allen can throw the ball further than Burrow, then your statement "“I think Josh is an awesome player and would never say he is overrated even tho his only trait that he has over Burrow is rushing (he can throw it a mile)” does not make sense.

This is getting to be piled a bit deep here.

Does it matter if you like the terrible way it was written now that you know what I meant?

I'm not sure what basic or advanced passing stats Allen surpasses Burrow this year and last? If there was one for maximum velocity, no doubt.

Josh is an excellent player, makes throws others cannot, and is a tremendous runner with the ball.  Different type of players.

seriosuly... lets go a few rounds and debate where i am wrong. i could use some practice.

edit... your 10x double down on the dirty play of the bengals is bizzare and why i don't think you can be non bias. between the TE cheapshot and the henrickson roll... the bengals are like they were 15 years ago... dirty, gritty players.

I'm not sure you deserve a debate with such dick responses? I would love to talk ball but if you can't converse without some maturity I'll stop.

Here you go in response to your comments:

    1.   "a corner blitz on a 3rd and long."
Feel free to blitz Burrow, the tiniest bit of research reveals Joe is pretty good vs the blitz, especially from the outside.

    2.  " I am not going to go all out attack the drop back. I think that little bastard is like 5'6"
Burrow is 6-4, 7/8ths of an inch shorter than Allen.

    3.  "they're gonna pin and pull on the run. They are gonna be close together as a default for pass pro. They want to leverage the pin and pull for their medicare backs."
    - I've watched 20 games and have not once seen our oline intentionally set close together in pass pro.  In fact LC left a huge gap next to the LG, Adeniji has tried the same without any luck...  but there is no default bunching". I have heard every word of every interview with the OC and olin coach and they have never mentioned bunching in any way.
    - We have not run a wide zone base offense since week 5.  We have transitioned to an inside gap base scheme. Of course like every offense we will pull, or "pin & pull" on certain plays.

    4. I have no idea which player you are referring to?  Edmunds?  Regardless I would not have a comment on your guys, only to say that you are correct that Milano and the other LB will be covering the pass as we like to get 4-5 options in play.
