  1. Here's the actual paper straight off the press: https://bmjpublichealth.bmj.com/content/2/1/e000282 The twitterer overstated the conclusions. It's a paragraph in the linked paper, worth a read. So is the discussion section summarizing multiple prior studies with different findings and presumably, conclusions as well as serious study limitations. Interesting paper that will be controversial and criticized. Data will be questioned. Methods will be criticized. And there will also be supporters of the authors. Science is cool.
  2. confirming that it was indeed rationed. I was 1b in Va.
  3. Good news for those considering moving abroad if the nazis gain power: https://www.wsj.com/economy/the-dollar-is-at-its-strongest-since-the-1980s-canit-last-a1d407b9
  4. it was first available to those labelled 1a in Dec 2020. Later fla prioritized over 70 yo. but let's not let facts get in the way of your narrative: https://www.cnbc.com/2020/12/23/covid-vaccine-texas-other-states-break-from-cdc-in-prioritizing-who-gets-next-round-of-shots.html Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis followed Texas on Tuesday, saying he intends to prioritize people over age 70 to be first to get the vaccine, not essential workers. “The vaccines are going to be targeted where the risk is going to be greatest, and that is in our elderly population,” DeSantis said at a news briefing. “We are not going to put young, healthy workers ahead of our elderly, vulnerable population.”
  5. link the literature. should be easy for a molecular biologist.
  6. the irony in some of the hearing was priceless. McCormick saying decisions should be made between a patient and a doctor without interference from the gov't. (to justify unproven and ultimately useless drugs for covid) Guess he's pro choice, huh? The outrage at testing on dogs weeks after defending a puppy killer...shameless fools. Fauci made the point that he believes in the scientific method, the time proven method of advancing knowledge. People like McCormick want to throw that out the window and go on whims....but trump loves him. He got a congressional seat for his efforts.
  7. I don't believe they did. Maybe they should stop providing life saving drugs developed in sinister labs to science hating, clueless MAGAs. Let them eat bleach...
  8. no, hermaphrodites have been recognized for eons...not so much how to prevent and treat novel pandemic causing viruses. We're still learning as long nd will know much more if the rubes leave the scientists alone.
  9. Umm, Because science is not static. What medicine believed even 10 years ago in many areas has changed.
  10. Absolutely...and solidly differentiated the quacks from the scientists (although that was very clear on this forum before covid). https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8058247/Donald-Trump-tweets-GOP-physician-banning-Anthony-Fauci-5-shows.html?ITO=applenews this POS was a huge proponent of HCQ but yesterday told everyone he was correct on Covid all along. The R chair of the committee is a podiatrist who purports to be a "surgeon" from his time at Abu Graib (sp?). (Who knew so many abused prisoners needed urgent foot care?). These shills are embarrassments to their profession as would be "Doc" if he really had an MD diploma...They're no better than MTG railing against one of the worlds most respected experts in Infectious Disease. They're worse tho because they know that science is the basis of medicine and still contend that it's evil. MAGA's need a villain. Science will do just fine. It's elitist don't you know...
  11. you're an outlier for your alma mater, party and social scene. trump owns country clubs, graduated ivy league and wouldn't allow the vast majority of his supporters near the gates. I remember when Rockefeller R's were dominant, especially in NY. Now most are D's. or at the very least consided RINO's. It's a crying shame and the country is worse for it.
  12. republicans are now dumber. ah, the good old days when they belonged at country clubs and graduated from college...i miss those.
  13. where Biden did something illegal thereby tainting the justice system. I don't see it.
  14. tell me about SCOTUS and the student debt issue. and Biden's response. Enquiring minds want to know.
  15. worse. They are attacking the entire justice system.
  16. This is rich considering trump admitted after the trial that he didn't testify because of -possible perjury... https://www.msnbc.com/the-last-word/watch/lawrence-trump-admits-he-didn-t-testify-because-he-would-have-committed-perjury-212073029510
  17. This https://ahf.nuclearmuseum.org/ahf/history/greenbrier-bunker/ is the best example that I know of for a "shadow government" and I'm all for this type of secret operation. Some things need to be secret. I don't believe the issue is nearly as dig as you make it, perhaps because you believe R's have so little power. Re the rest, let's see what happens on appeal. Many "experts" also saw an acquittal.
  18. I think it far more likely that MLK was killed by the govt. trump doesn't play ball by the rules at any time. he makes them up (or ignores them) repeatedly. That's why he's so dangerous (that and because he's a psychopath). I also think the NY trial was fair. trump got much more leeway than you or I would ever get.
  19. Seems reasonable up til the deep state bs. I think the education backing is lower (there is a growing number of conservative schools), media slightly lower and social media much lower. But the overall point is well taken now that the house is nearly evenly divided. The LI example is unique in that it's not urban vs rural. Is WNY really blue? Sure doesn't seem so from this forum.
  20. trumps guilty ruling had no apparent effect. inflation, inflation, inflation. it's decreasing.
  21. he works for breitbart. guessing his political views had some factor in his choice. Personally, when I listen to economic news on TV, it's from Mark Zandi on PBS. I can't imagine him speculating like this. just another example of how different the tribes are...https://www.economy.com/markzandi
  22. well if dan bongino says it, it must be true....you guys go the most impressive experts for your news.
  23. Don't take investment advice from Fox or Breitbart. Don't take any advice from them: https://www.mediaite.com/tv/dow-gains-nearly-600-points-after-fox-business-guest-predicted-crash-after-trump-conviction/
