There is no doubt McD is a good coach. He builds team chemistry and has developed an excellent culture. He has seemed to evolve from his naturally conservative nature and takes more risks than he used too. 13 seconds is unforgivable. His weaknesses are game time high pressure decisions where he just melts. His choices of when to call timeouts or throw the challenge flags is still terrible. I always say nothing good ever happens on the play after a time out. His game planning for playoff games has not been good. He does a decent job against the Ravens but there just seems to be no plan of attack on offense or defense against KC. The Bills just revert to Josh running the ball and playing hero ball when the games get tight. His defensive philosophy against bad teams or bad qb’s work but he has no answers for good offenses and qb’s. i personally believe the Bills will never win a Super Bowl under McDermott but the Bills will never part ways with him. so I’ve resigned myself to enjoying the ride each season watching the most exciting player in the nfl ball out, but knowing if the Bills go on a playoff run that McD will not have them ready for the elite teams.

The Bills are in a tough spot. They don’t have much cap space to work with. I’m sure Bean could get creative and kick the cap situation down the road again but at some point it catches up with you. Cook is a valuable piece to the offense. The second best player after Josh. It will be hard to replace his speed and home run ability. They could get by with Ty Johnson and Ray Davis but they wouldn’t be as good and would be in trouble if either gets injured. I think they will give him an extension of 3 years, 42 million with 30 million guaranteed. Cook would be foolish not to take it. Sure he wants 15 million a year but the market is just not paying that. Perhaps they could add incentives. He wants to be here and the Bills want him. He has a good situation where he doesn’t need to be an every down back and less rushing attempts will extend his playing career. Playing with Josh Allen and a good offensive line makes him a more productive player. He has to realize that and take it under consideration. I don’t think he will be as productive on a lesser team with a bad I line and qb. I will be pissed if he ends up in KC next year. The Bills are in a tough spot. Desean Watson is the worst franchise qb in the league by far. Followed by Lawrence. Both have huge contracts and have done nothing.

I’ve been a fan since I was 10 watching OJ. My family wasn’t really into football but OJ had all of WNY watching. I remember running to and from school as fast as I could avoiding sidewalk cracks making OJ moves. I’ve followed them ever since even after moving away. My boys are now diehard fans and so are their kids. Wide right was devastating. But so was Harmon’s drop and so many others. Josh Allan deserves a Super Bowl ring more than anyone and so do Bills fans. No one who grew up outside of WNY knows how bad Bills fans want a championship. Just one. That Browns loss was a definite low point. I think Cleveland only had about 19 total yards and the Bills still lost. Bills are famous for playing not to lose in critical moments and then losing in historical fashion. It’s gut wrenching.

Bills 2nd Rnd pick in 2025 Draft : TJ Sanders - DT South Carolina
Mike R replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
He could’ve taken a 3 lb dump just before weigh for all we know. -
It should be Miami. They have the best offense. They always start out well and fade at the end of the year. It seemed Tyrek Hill quit in the team at the end. Any news on him? I think Miami’s problem is they lack depth. As the year goes on and the injuries pile up, they don’t have quality back ups. The Patriots should be much improved. They have their quarterback and Vrabel is a proven coach. They have a ton of cap room and have added better players. I just hope it takes a while for the team to learn their new coaches ways. The Jets will finish last. We will see if the owner and fans will be patient and allow the new coach to build a team the right way. Without a good young qb they aren’t going anywhere.

Hoecht and Ogunjobi 6 game suspension for PEDs
Mike R replied to Process's topic in The Stadium Wall
These were questionable signings for the money without the suspensions. These are rotational part time players with no history of exceptional play. Now they each miss the first 6 games? Even if the Bills had a lot of cap space and money to throw around it would be dumb. But the Bills are up against the cap and are over paying players that are suspended. Beane has lost his mind. Huge waste of money on a tight budget when you have holes to fill and your own players to re sign. -
You nailed it. The loose coverage off the LOS is what allows Mahomes and other good qb’s to complete quick easy passes and negates the pass rush. It’s maddening to watch the Bills third and long plays on defense.
-
I love James Cook. But the Bills shouldn’t pay him 15 mil. a year. He has one more year on his rookie contract. Either keep him for one more year or trade him. The Bills use running backs like defensive lineman. They rotate in and out. I thought Cook should have played a lot more against the Chiefs. The Bills have 2 good back up running backs and this years draft is supposedly loaded with good backs. As much as I like Cook, the Bills could trade him and try to land Myles Garret. If they keep him and pay him he needs to be the featured back and play most of the game. He’s not even our third down back and Ray Davis is very good. Josh and the offense can get by with out him. The defense needs help bad. With a tight budget and other needs I would not pay top dollar for a running back.
-
Not only did the Eagles d line dominate and get pressure on Mahomes they played much tighter defense in coverage. Part of the Bills problem is the loose coverage that gives the qb a chance to make quick easy throws to wide open receivers before the d line even gets close to them. The Bills have a problem on defense.
-
This. Our defensive philosophy of playing so far off the receivers negates the pass rush. Good qb’s just dump the ball off quick for easy completions to wide open receivers. McD’s defense is predicated on playing back, keeping everything in front of you and making the tackle forcing you to play mistake free football the length of the field. Eventually there is a penalty, dropped pass, or a fumble or interception. It works against bad teams in the regular season. Doesn’t work too good against good teams in the playoffs. You have to mix in some blitzing and tight coverage or no pass rusher is getting to the qb. McD’s defense in the playoffs is horrible. If that’s what we continue to play then at least provide Josh with weapons to score 40 points a game because that’s what it’s going to take in the playoffs with this defense.
-
McD still ran the most conservative prevent defense in history and allowed the Chiefs to easily march down the field unopposed for the tying fg. It was the most conservative scared playcalling ever and cost the Bills the game. I’ll never forgive him for it as Josh was the most dialed in qb and was playing out of his mind. Shameful waste of a golden opportunity to win the Super Bowl. I’ll never forgive him for it. Although he has improved and become much more aggressive than he used to be, he still reverts to this defense in critical tense situations during games. I am also tired of playing good defense on first and second down only to play way off the ball and give up third and long, over and over and over again. I’m not sure he can ever get them to the big game with conservative play calling on defense with the game on the line.

“Upper body injury”

The Colts have a very good o line and a good running back. The Bills seem to have no answer for that. I watched the Colts o line dominate a good Pittsburgh defense. I think we lose to the Chiefs and 49ers but beat Seattle. 49ers and Chiefs both have good defenses and offenses and are more physical.
-
I’ve said the same for years. Play your best players. The rotating d line has not worked and is a waste of money. Year after year the d line lets them down in the playoffs. It’s never resulted in “fresh legs” or less injuries. It’s the same with the running backs. Every time a running gets warmed and starts to make plays they get benched. It does attract free agent d lineman though. They get paid millions to play part time.
