It was awful! You could call that on any given play! They were grabbing Diggs all the way down the field and we didn't get a call. Johson had a push at the line and then just covered. It was in no way illegal contact!

100% agree. Diggs was constantly getting mauled with no call. It looked to me like our defensive linemen were being tackled play after play. I also thought the ball placement on multiple plays was way off, including the shuttle pass to Kincaid at the goaline. That ball should have been inches from the goaline. Some of Cooks runs were poor placements also.

  2. I had heard that Butkus was disappointed that Jim Brown unexpectedly retired the year he was drafted as he looked forward to taking him on. Word was that he punished Leroy Kelly, who became the Brown’s featured back, whenever he got the opportunity. Not sure if the story is fully true but it made for good conversation.

My fave play was when Josh was under pressure and made the simple float pass to Cook who then took it about 30+ yards.  Just really hammered home how smart Josh was playing and that he was taking what the defense was giving.  Against the Jets, he's launching that ball downfield into triple coverage.

That was also a great read by Cook, seeing Josh scrambling and having the wherewithal to head downfield. That’s a form of communication and trust that comes with time together. Great play and look forward to more of those type plays from Cook.👍

  4. It appears that teams are going to try to make Josh beat them from the pocket, not allowing him to roll out or create running lanes when everyone is covered.  It looked like the Jets contained the ends to keep Josh between the tackles. In order for him to succeed against that strategy he will need to take the quick release passes and settle for 5 - 6 yard gains, which is not a bad thing. We started way too many drives last night with negative first down plays, whether they were runs tackled behind the line or stupid penalties.

  5. Was saying the entire second half that they should use Kincaid more. He caught everything and turned up field and was hard to tackle. Nice, basically safe plays that gain yardage continually, instead of going backwards on first down so many times.

  6. So Cook is coming off shoulder surgery this offseason and apparently will not be able to practice for a short while and Hall had the knee surgery last year and openly stated he still experiences knee soreness and is concerned that he won’t be able to make certain cuts. It’ll be interesting to see how it all works out.

    Wall of Fame - Yes

Buffalo Sport Hall and likley "AFL" Hall of Fame - Yes

NFL Hall - a stretch at best, most voters just don't know - all-time Bills pick leader with 40, punt returner as well, plus 2 AFL rings, just not enuff apparently, there was a push for AFL guys for the hall but that is over, so not likely...

    highlights:

In 1964 Butch was selected in the AFL college draft by the Buffalo Bills and he made an immediate impact on the defensive side of the ball as a cornerback. Early in his rookie season, he ran back his first professional interception 72 yards for a touchdown; that wouldn’t be the last as he would later become the Bills’ all-time leader in interceptions with 40, returning five for touchdowns; he was seemingly always in the right place at the right time. Butch was a valuable member of the two AFL championship Buffalo Bills teams of 1964 and 1965 and was selected to five All-AFL teams.

Butch was also an exceptional punt returner, and continues to rank among the Bills all-time leaders. In the 1966 AFL Championship Game, he returned a punt 74 yards for a touchdown and established championship game records for punt returns and punt return yards.

Moreover, he played in every game as a member of the Bills during his tenure in Buffalo, starting 101 consecutive games.

The punt return for a touchdown came in the 1965 AFL championship game, our 2nd title game against the Chargers. He also had an interception in that game. He was amazing and very deserving of more accolades.
