Inside the 20 with a chance to win it two games in a row
RoscoeParrish replied to Virgil's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don’t think anyone in this world is upset with that call if there is laundry on the field or WR1 comes down with it. Throw it up to your best WR, 1on1, with a corner that clearly was in over his head (grabbed him) with the game on the line, give me that all day everyday. -

#Analysis. All the plays that resulted in touchdowns were good calls. I am sure you felt the same way when Diggs shook Lattimore at the pylon. -

Does Allen only have one option? One read? Is this high school? -
It’s hard to say what to expect, as the team and specifically the offense has been so inconsistent. Most think the offense magically clicked yesterday in the second half (let's hope they did) but if you rewatch the second half, the Bucs defense did lay off the gas and were not blitzing nearly as much. Are we being bamboozled a bit by the offense just getting some garbage time type production to let us back into it and Arians mismanaging the game? I hope I am wrong, but we were down 3 possessions with very little time left in the 3rd quarter. It’s not outside of the realm to think our offense took advantage of softer looks. Yes the Bucs picked the heat back up late, but if I am a Bucs fan I am furious with how early they decided to lay off the gas on defense and effectively let us back in it.

Collectively, across our losses as the OP mentioned, is it fair to say that Josh needs to better in the red zone as well? When you need that one play to put you over the top. Most notably in the Titans and NE games? -
Bills will win out. And then...anything can happen

The Jags, Titans, Pats, Steelers, and Colts scare me. -

Or the ball is dropped, or is underthrown, or is overthrown, or he catches it and gets tackled. Idk. Hard to say it was a sure 6 man. -

You could be right, but I don’t think that was a DPI that prevented 6. -

I really really hope fundamentals were preached in that halftime locker room. -

Who cares? Sure they missed it. We are getting our faces punched in. We need 50 more DPI calls to get back in it. Focus on the issue. -

I think it’s time for Dawkins to call The Athletic and tell them how this team is different y’all. -

You get my point. There is zero chance this falls ALL on the coaching staff. You make it sound like we are the most talented team in the league. Get lost -

Yeah yeah yeah. I read this same post during the Rex days. It falls on both the players and the staff. It’s not one or the other. BTW your franchise QB just made a Rookie mistake. -

We need to address the pass rush and draft a lot of defensive ends this off-season. -
I wouldn't trade Allen for anyone in the league
RoscoeParrish replied to Success's topic in The Stadium Wall
I mean we can nitpick every single play, but he wasn’t great in the game. He could have played better. Yes, the concept on Cover 0 was there (credit Daboll?). But the execution wasn’t. Blame the O line? Receivers? Josh? Wind? Bottom line is it’s dumb IMO to say that Josh wasn’t PART of the reason we lost. Not the entire reason, but part of the reason for sure falls on him. -

I will remember him not recognizing cover zero like he regressed to 2018 again on the last play of the game. I will also remember him taking an untimely sack inside the redzone and making poor reads and missing open players in critical moments. Rolling right and forcing a ball to Knox in the late stage of the game, when he had Diggs wide open over the middle at the 6 yard line, immediately comes to mind. And you say Josh wasn’t at least ONE of the many reasons we came up short? Are you kidding? All his fault, absolutely not. Does he share some of the blame? 100%. -

I don’t care what the stats say to justify an argument around the 2021 Josh Allen thus far. Kirk Cousins’ numbers are in an elite category this year - look at his team’s record and his performance in close games when plays need to be made. We see this every year with QBs (and name any other position) where the statistics do not tell the entire story. Allen hasn’t played as well as he did last year. He hasn’t made the plays he has had to at key moments many times this year. He has shown inconsistencies and questionable decision making countless times. He has repeatedly made poor reads. Can anyone disagree with that? In comparison to his 2020 season? The standard he set when he earned the franchise name tag and pay grade. That is his benchmark. Now, is it because of the offensive line? Lack of run game? Scheme? Maybe. It’s the same offensive line as last year and last time I checked we couldn’t run the ball last year either. I find it hard to believe it’s all on Daboll and scheme. That is a classic scapegoat excuse to not call out our Franchise QB. Allen hasn’t been bad. Who knows where the team would be without him. But it’s fair to say, Allen hasn’t been the Allen of 2020. -
OK, armchair analysts: How do we fix this offense?
RoscoeParrish replied to Just in Atlanta's topic in The Stadium Wall
Everyone wants to blame the running game, which was equally pitiful last year. If anything, this year there has been more of a commitment to at least attempt to run the football. Allen was able to make up for a lack of running game last year and the offense was still able to produce at a much higher and consistent level. IMO Allen is just not playing as well as he did last year. -
This. All the reporters, not just Sullivan, were asking hard-hitting questions in the pressers. It’s time for that. The team has underperformed expectations and repeatedly deflected issues with cliche answers throughout the entire season.

That wasn’t the question that was posed. We all know Jerry looks for clicks and throughout the entire drought era was the first to look for the negative. It’s who he is and it has always been his style. With that being said, to ask the defensive captains if their “run defense is embarrassing” is a fair and valid question. He did not attack them personally, he attacked their performance. Which is justified IMO. Multiple missed tackles by both Poyer and Hyde and the entire defense. Hyde’s whiff as last line of defense resulted in the longest run of the game.
