Bills ran their “four minute” offense. The idea was to score a TD or FG with very little time for the Pats to score. It’s kind of a risky strategy because if you fail to get a first down then you give the Pats the ball back with the perfect amount of time to run their 2 minute offense and end the game (which they did). It makes sense if you trust your offense to be able to get multiple consecutive first downs more than you trust your defense to prevent a score vs the other team’s 2 minute offense. Our defense was a sieve in the 2nd half so it kind of makes sense.

I think it’s telling that Allen was scrambling around last night for 6+ seconds and nobody was open. When he was throwing downfield during the scramble drill it was to a covered guy. Even Gabe Davis could get open given that much time. Allen can’t win with these cats.

2024 Chiefs literally got that exact DPI vs the Bengals in the regular season.

Tonight vs the Pats - weirdly reffed game, you could argue a big reason the Bills entered halftime with only a FG. 7 accepted penalties on the Bills before Pats got their first. Very ticky tack stuff. Divisional vs Chiefs 2024 - Bills doubled Chiefs penalties and yardage, to be honest I don't really remember much about this game other than Bass' missed FG to tie vs Eagles 2023 - Bad intentional grounding call, AJ Brown fumble, horsecollar tackle. Just a terribly reffed game. vs Patriots 2022- Fairly average penalties, this was mostly a beat down vs Dolphins 2018 - 120 penalty yards on 13 penalties accepted vs Ravens 2018 - 100 penalty yards on 10 penalties accepted, this was a big blowout with Peterman He actually got a decent amount of press before the Chiefs divisional game with Bills fans calling him impartial and complaining he got assigned to that game including a NYTimes article (here), so I wouldn't be surprised if he kind of hates us. He had an almost 4 year gap between being assigned one of our games, and I hope that happens again. Just totally kills the flow, which will benefit the lesser team.

There is no such thing as a must win game during week 5, where if you lose you are still tied for first in the conference. There's just way too much football to be played. The Ravens and Texans had a must win game today, we did not.

He took a big pay cut and shortened his contract this offseason, and he'll be a FA after this season. He was likely going to be cut otherwise.

They already lost to the Raiders and Steelers. They will probably drop several more games to middle of the road teams, even if their schedule is kind of soft.

NBC only showed a replay from the opposite end zone because it was an obvious penalty. Props to them for showing any replay, they usually just skip it on bad calls.

It happened a lot while Maye was rolling to his right. The right tackle or right guard would grab to buy him some extra time.

Penalties are often very subjective and not evenly called. The Pats did identical OPI that Shakir did right before the Allen INT, and were never called for it. Their offensive line also held A LOT, and I don't think they got called for it while we got called for holds TWICE on interior lineman for holds on running plays (which is rarely called). It was a screwjob straight up.

I will say this, I doubt the Pats win the rematch (or at least not in the same way). Doubt the reffing will be as wacky, and I'm going to guess the Bills will prevent Maye rolling out to his right.

You think we'll go 6-6 the rest of the season? I just don't think that will happen. All of our hardest games are at home. If we beat the Falcons, Panthers, Dolphins, Bengals, Browns, and Jets, then we only need to pick up one additional win to exceed your prediction.

It was pretty obviously supposed to be a lateral play. There was no chance we were going to move down the field in 8 seconds from the 20 yard line.

True, I don't doubt the Chiefs could beat us in the playoffs again. They have a great defense. I just think there is very little chance they get the #1 seed with their start, how their offense has looked, and their tough schedule.

The Chiefs offense has looked bad against every team that wasn't the Ravens with half their starters out. Basically the same Ravens defense that just gave up 44 at home to the Texans today. If Russell Wilson wasn't so bad, they probably lose to the Giants. Sorry, but I'll need to see more. There is a chance they look better when Rice is back, he's a great WR when healthy (and not driving a car). They also have a much tougher schedule that us.

Who is going to take the #1 seed then? Ravens are down and out, Chargers are Chargering (lost to a much worse team than the Pats). Bills could still have a 2 game lead on KC with a head-to-head later in the season after tomorrow night. I guess if you believe in the Colts, Steelers or Jags. Bills are still in the driver's seat for the #1 seed (especially if we beat KC in our matchup).

If Patrick Mahomes or Tom Brady dance around for 8 seconds, you better believe Kelce or Gronk are open. Allen was still throwing to blanketed guys after buying a ton of time.

Babich is easily worse than Frazier. Frazier was DC when Bills had a top 5 defense. Now, we did have more talent then...and Frazier was too soft to take us to the promised land...but Babich is not good.

Shakir was way short of the sticks on that play and it was 3rd down. I guess he could have thrown there and hope for YAC, but it is likely 4th and short.

I blame the refs. Bills scored 17 points in the second half when the eased up a bit.
