  1. The question is did we struggle to adapt because of mentality or ability? In both games we should have at least given them something else to think about and in both games we failed to do so.
  2. Which teams are definitely not looking for a starting quarterback? The Seahawks, the Rams, the Bucs, the Cowboys, the Chiefs, the Chargers and ourselves. I’d presume the Saints (with their cap issue I guess they’ll go with Winston, Hill or both), the Packers (though goodness know considering how MLF is acting at the moment), the Lions (depending on how much they trust Goff), the Titans, the Jaguars (via the draft), the Ravens, the Browns and the Bengals (dependant on Burrow’s return from injury) won’t be looking either but there’s perhaps doubts about the route they’d choose to take. Then there’s questions around the Texans and the Raiders in relation to Watson and Carr’s futures. Every other franchise may be looking for new quarterbacks either via the draft or by trading. I can see a side taking a risk with Trubisky considering the potential needs.
  3. I suppose the only risk is reading more into those two games than they actually showed. Yes, the Chiefs practically blew us out in the Championship game and had it relatively easy in the league game with an injured Josh in the line up but that doesn’t mean the gap is as great as it seems. Look at what happened between the Saints and the Bucs; the former won 34-23 to kickstart the season and blew them out in Tampa 38-3. However, in the Divisional game the Bucs won 30-20. There is a gap which it’d be great to close but we are capable of beating the Chiefs.
  4. We have to play them eventually - might as well get our hardest game of the season out of the way in week one. Of course if it’s another heavy defeat it might knock confidence so I guess I see the logic there.
  5. Yes. Maybe they could ask Mahomes to sit out of the final quarter of the opener too?
  6. Thanks. Of course it would have helped if I’d read the entire tweet. ☺️
  7. Reading this thread Josh has to improve his deep play, his short play, getting rid of the ball quickly, reading coverage, his footwork... Going off that, is everyone sure they wouldn’t do a straight trade for Watson? 😅
  8. So he basically needs to get more control of his arm strength - take weight off the fall I’m order to give it a better trajectory?
  9. If allowed? Is Watson going to try and use Covid-19 as an excuse to get out of being fined?
  10. The way anyone beats Kansas City in full flow is offensively, by winning a high scoring game. Unless lucky enough to catch them on an off day they won’t be kept to a low score.
  11. Either Beane or McDermott said in their post season press conference that Milano deserved the chance to do the best for him but, budget wise, we wouldn’t be able to pay him what he probably deserves so they must be planning for this. I think he can do a job for us if he returns but otherwise best of luck to him.
  12. Personality is key as well; after what has happened at Houston you have to wonder when Deshaun might pitch a fit toward the administration, especially if things aren't going well. They have been no concerns about Josh on that score to date. But I agree, on balance, taking into account age and quality I'd say the current pecking order is Mahomes, Watson and Allen. However I'd say Watson has reached his ceiling (albeit he'd look better surrounded by a stronger offense) whilst Josh should still have room to grow.
  13. Depends which team came in for him. Watson and Josh are close to a like-for-like so the team who instigated it may chuck in a draft pick as well. Mahomes would be a swap with us giving the Chiefs a few picks in return. Josh’d be unaffordable to anyone else, either because age (Brady, Rodgers, Wilson) or quality is in his favour. Edit: Picks, not pucks!
  14. If the Chiefs win the SuperBowl then I reckon we’ll travel there for Thursday night football. If the Bucs win then it’s between ourselves, the Saints (more likely if Brees strings it out for another season, but that’s improbable) or the Cowboys, with Dak’s return. The schedulers might be liking the look of the line ups should the Chiefs win as they could have us going there on Thursday night and the Bucs travelling to the Pats for the Sunday night game.
  15. Flicking a ball at the opposition is a massive no no. Punching them? Yeah, that's ok.
  16. To be honest, those third place play off games can be a drag at the best of times - especially for the loser who has had a good competition overall but then has two defeats on the bounce to round it off. Plus the liklihood of injuries in the NFL is far more likely than in football. What happens if we lose Josh or Aaron Rodgers obtains an injury in what is a meaningless end of season game?
  17. Josh has got a higher ceiling that Watson but perhaps a lower floor.
  18. Listening to the clip itself he basically says Watson is the fourth best QB in the league after Mahomes, Wilson and Rodgers and anyone else would trade. He gives a long reason why the Chargers would forgo Herbert. But then the Twitter posts highlight the Allen comparison - because they know it will get clicks and reactions.
  19. I think there’s an argument that you’re only as good as you’re last game, whether that’s fair or not. If you look at the Bucs forum they’re no doubt grateful for what Brady has done for them this year but worried by the fact he threw three picks in the NFCCG which could have easily cost them. The gap between Mahomes and Josh in the AFCCG was a chasm and probably not even predicted by those who have doubts about the latter. Yes, the rest of the team played their part in creating the gap but Josh didn’t help himself. I freely admit I’m a glass half empty kind of guy - I love having Josh as our Quarterback and if you cut him he’d bleed Buffalo. But I am concerned that he could turn into a Wentz or a Goff based on how he can freeze under pressure, or this season was an outlier and he will regress rather than progress. Should we hold off on a deal for another year and, if he repeats the success, we know we have the real deal on our hands? On the flip side, if he develops in the same way as he did between years one and two, and two and three, then we’ll have a cap nightmare on our hands. He has more than earned a new contract with his development but I can appreciate why some may have doubts - some with far more credit in the bank than the likes of Skip Bayless.
  20. Just watching the consoloation video back on the Josh Allen thread and noticed he had the moustache during the AFCCG (which I missed at time).
  21. Interestingly Packers fans seem delighted at this news.
  22. How would they benefit though, unless they somehow convince Watson not to go on strike? As it is they can get a lot out of the trade to allow Caserio and Culley to start building the team they want.
  23. The link is the Patriots tie in at Houston now; they may feel they'll be able to get something out of Jimmy G, though fitness has to be a question mark at the moment. But it sounds like Caserio is going to try and fight to keep Watson there - no idea how. Edit: 'like' not 'liek'
