Sources say ZERO PERCENT chance McD is fired
UKBillFan replied to Brand J's topic in The Stadium Wall
Individual decision making has probably cost the Bills decision making this year, rather than an ageing roster. The coaches not organising Special Teams correctly leading to 12 men; if that hadn’t happened the Bills would be 7-5. The abysmal defense in the final series against Mac Jones and the Pats. All they had to do was keep to a simple game plan, as Jones is a dreadful QB. Instead they allowed him to waltz down the field. So make that 8-4. The abysmal final series against the Eagles is nearly as unforgivable (the near 60 yard FG being down to penalties against the Eagles than brilliant defense), followed by a member of the Philadelphia offense coming out expressing shock at how easy the Bills defense made it in OT in terms of play calling. Better calls and it’s 9-3. And that’s just this season. That’s despite Josh’s Met Life meltdown, the Jet Lag against the Jags and a weak performance at the Bengals. Play call after play call after play call. And we go back through the horrors of yesteryear if needed. The issue with the Bills is coaching, and McDermott is learning from mistakes previously made. Instead he’s been hiding behind the likes of Milano, Jones, White and a younger Hyde and Poyer to make great plays. Now they’re injured on ageing the truth is being exposed. -
Random talking head says something about the Bills
UKBillFan replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
Adding to Doc Brown's post, I think Josh has only had two more turnovers than both Hurts and Mahomes this year, having played a game more. Chris Simms is getting particularly irritated at the "Josh is a turnover machine" narrative considering he's hardly miles ahead of two QBs lauded as the best. -
Most BILLSY thing we are about to do to end the season
UKBillFan replied to Drew21PA's topic in The Stadium Wall
The Bills will win out. Make the play offs. Get through the Wildcard. Shock someone in the Divisional. Pick up a surprise victory in the Championship. Go into the Super Bowl as surprise favourites. And then have a final play which will go down in the annals alongside 13 seconds, 12 players, Wide Right, Music City Miracle etc. -
How did the Bills do at a Jets side led by Zach Wilson? The Pats with Mac Jones under centre? The Broncos at home? Or the Giants for that matter? OK, so they played well against the Dolphins and the Eagles. But there has been far more bad and good this season - particularly when relying on the defense to hold on to a lead in the final two minutes.

If you keep listening to that link Mike Florio touches on what others are saying, though.
-
The problem with the Bills is I can see them winning the next five, but can easily see them losing all of them as well. There's no way we can have confidence or expectation in them, considering this is a team which lost to the Jets without Rodgers, Pats and Broncos.

Maybe he could help with both sides of the ball. 😆

The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, Surrender Edition
UKBillFan replied to Chaos's topic in The Stadium Wall
Would any OC of calibre leave their current position right now, considering their franchise be in a play off fight? Best the Bills could do is perhaps promote Shula for the interim period and then... Holcomb to DC? -
I'd be careful with saying they've found something with Brady. I hope you're right but remember Dorsey's first two games in charge? They put up 31 over the reigning Super Bowl champions and 41 against the Titans. It's early days and will be interesting to see what happens when DCs have had a chance to study the tape. Fingers crossed Brady can adjust better than his predecessor.

I don't think Beane complete trades and runs drafts on his own? There will be input by others, in particular McDermott. The Bills have a defensive head coach and have predominantly focused on defense throughout his time here. A new coach would work with Beane on a new philosophy. I think the Bills can do much better than McDermott. I'm not sure if they can do much better than Beane.

The current storyline is Stroud. Maybe “poster boy” is the wrong term for him. I agree with those who are saying it isn’t logical for the NFL to fix the game against the Bills. But the calls were ridiculously biased against them.
-
Stroud is the current poster boy, not Josh. Josh is seen as a glorified turnover machine. And Kelce v Kelce in the Super Bowl with Swift in attendance must be a dream. Shame the 49ers keep blowing out teams at the moment…

Yet another choke job by the defense
UKBillFan replied to Bermuda Triangle's topic in The Stadium Wall
And the Eagles offense was error free all night? The defense was put in a position to win the game three times, and screwed every one. -
From a former McDermott Supporter: It is OVAH

The defense was gassed? They were only on the field for 23 minutes! The offense was in possession for over 40. -
I prefer Brady at OC over Daboll after two games. But then think I thought the same about Dorsey at this stage.

Sean McDermott is the Bills’ biggest problem: https://atozsports.com/buffalo/sean-mcdermott-is-hurting-the-bills/ -
I assume Smiley will be fired tomorrow as McDermott makes another move to try and save his own skin?
-
The worse thing is it still gives us a smidgen of hope. If Josh continues in the vein of the last two weeks the Bills COULD win out. But then this defense against the Chiefs, Cowboys and Dolphins (providing they’re not resting starters)? Even the Chargers might be a challenge.
-
I don’t think the Bills would do better than Beane. Keep him here, cut McDermott and allow Beane to run the search for the next HC rather than Pegula.
-
True. Could have been trying something different to fix the defense but I might be grasping at straws. I should also try and get some sleep. Bloody Bills.
-
Not sure we’ll never know. Cover 2 might be able to make an educated guess.
-
I deleted my post as I’m not sure if I fully blame Josh for it. There was a feeling of “here we go again” but it was basically with Diggs. Bradberry cut across at the last second. It was a gutwrencher either way.
-
At this rate, we may not be able to tell - the Bills might be in a position to tank. It is true that Dorsey started hot last year. And, Jets aside - which wasn’t really on his play calling - the offense started hot this year too.
-
Why are you blaming Josh and not Diggs for the INT when it was in the latter’s hands?
-
Jets, Broncos and Pats. How, just HOW, are the Bills 1-3 against those teams? And it could be worse - the officials were, for once, on their side against the Giants. Otherwise…
