  1. This can’t be correct. It doesn’t fit the narrative that there’s something wrong with Josh! What’s wrong with Josh is an overall inferior receiving corps and an offensive game plan that has been completely unable to overcome our receivers deficiencies!
  2. Very good point. If you noticed today, both Cook & Shakir were past all defenders quickly on their TDs. Carolina didn’t think our WRs could beat them deep, so the defense plays close to the line of scrimmage. This lack of respect for our WRs allows more blitzing from the DBs. It does make it harder on the offensive line to protect the QB.
  3. I’m excited to see the PED twins and especially Hairston on D today. I’m also hoping that Hancock gets on the field at safety for us today. He looked good in limited play in the exhibition games. The fact we had zero trades during the last two weeks hopefully means the team believes these 4 guys will make a difference.
  4. Safety, WR, CB & LB are all in need of major improvement. I’m very disappointed, but not surprised that nothing has happened during our bye week. Beane & McDermott are lacking a sense of urgency in changing anything, despite serious concerns from the fanbase & media. Let’s hope they actually have a plan for improvement and some tricks up their sleeves.
  5. I would guess most every QB is their most undisciplined when they have no time to throw and are getting hit hard. Josh has had a career low pocket time of 2.0 seconds this season and has been sacked 12 times in the first 6 games vs 14 sacks in 16 full games last season. That doesn’t include the shots he’s taken while unloading the ball to avoid a sack. I’m just glad he’s as tough as he is. A lot of QBs would’ve been knocked out of Monday night’s game.
  6. This is the biggest problem with our offense this season. Josh is an amazing QB, but he’s still human. Every QB that has no time to throw & gets hit hard from multiple angles multiple times is going to get punch drunk and make mistakes. This is especially true when your receivers don’t get open initially and don’t know how to get open when Josh is scrambling. We must improve protection, by o-line improvement, by pre-snap formation…more spread alignment, by receiver awareness of blitzes and adjusting their routes for quick throws & by better overall play calling. If we put Josh through more games like the last two, our biggest concern will be his health. If Josh gets injured, the only positive I can see is a high draft pick next April.
  7. Changes I’d like to see: -Both suspended d-linemen on the field asap -Trade for 1 LB & at least 1 safety -Get Hancock playing time at safety. -Get Hairston on the field asap -Trade for at least one good WR. -Add some new offensive plays to the play book, especially to counter blitzes. -Dial up some new creative defensive blitzes on 3rd & long. -Play more man & less zone on D. -Sign a better punter. What WILL we change? Probably nothing.
  8. Great time for a bye week. We seriously need to regroup!
  9. Bishop would be a good backup. He can’t make plays against good players. Both Bishop and Rapp get posterized too often.
  10. I would just like to see our current receivers understand the need for abbreviated routes when the QB has 4 guys bearing down on him. Josh took several big hits today.
  11. One positive: Deone Walker had a great second half! He had 4 tackles for loss in the game!
  12. Atlanta’s defense overwhelmed our o-line. Josh had no time to pass, no where to run. We need better WRs. As soon as Palmer was hurt, we had Shakir & not much else. Coleman is clueless when it comes to ball awareness. He never seems to know when the ball’s coming to him. On one of his few receptions he jumps up and signals first down, when he was 2 yards short.
  13. Falcons have averaged 19.5 PPG before this game. Announcers are trying to cover for our defensive incompetence by acting like the Falcons have an incredible offense.
  14. A part of the frustration with Coleman is where he was drafted. He was the 33rd player taken, basically our first round pick in a great receiver draft. If Coleman was a 3rd, or 4th round pick, he wouldn’t be scrutinized as he is. That’s another “not his fault “ observation, but that’s where it currently appears he should’ve been drafted. We still need a WR1, specifically a WR1 who can stretch the field.
