  1. Man, in each of the past several preseasons, I go in expecting to say this, but I never got to: "Don't get too excited, they look great now, but these games don't count" It's a hell of a lot better than, "Yeah, they were awful, but (excuse 1), (excuse 2), and it's just the preseason and these games don't count anyway"
  2. Hear hear!
  3. What's the transit time from Buffalo to the Rogers' center? I wonder how it compares to the travel time from say, Jamaica, Queens to Giants Stadium.
  4. The same completion percentage leads me to Moon - McNabb's schemes led to shorter passes, Moon's longer. You'd expect any QB to have a lower completion percentage in Moon's systems.
  5. I don't know - I think it's hard to prove that drafting a certain position means anything with that methodology. The top teams and the bottom ones are essentially the same - I'd probably explain the rest with random chance.
  6. I bet it's just the opposite. Peters holds out all season, we're out of hte playoff race in November. Peters plays, we get strung along, narrow win after eked-out victory, until finally, our hearts are broken at the most dramatic point possible. 2001 was way less stressful than 1991. ...Just kidding, of course. Being a Bills Fan, by definition, means that you'd trade the last few years of your life for a few more wins this year.
  7. Wait - since we don't have a HOF QB, we're going to make up for it by stopping our pass protecting? That sounds like responding to being deaf by poking your eyes out.
  8. You're right. The fact that he matched Tim Anderson's career tackle count during last season alone is probably just a coincidence.
  9. Why will Losman start in Green Bay? They have one guy already at the make-or-break point in his career, and a highly-touted rookie backup in Brian Brohm.
  10. Look, I'm not concerned based on last night's game. It was a first-preseason game against team that already had a game in the books (didn't that happen last year, too?) So, 1/5, whatever. I'd just be happier if I spent the game saying "Well, I know it's preseason, but damn these guys look good" instead of "Well, at least it's just preseason." We've had such a paucity of regular and post-season excitement, at least we could get a little in August.
  11. Thank god the front office went out and got us Gibran Hamdan, because Ken Dorsey showed what happens when your team lacks chroise. Eight straight incomplete passes to end the game, all of them in the red zone. If it came down to a showdown of third-QBs, I know who would win. Seriously, I know he's a third QB, and everybdoy playing is a backup, and it doesn't count, and it's the preseason, but Dorsey had the worst quarter of quarterback play I've ever seen.
  12. Should the Jets let Pennington go with Favre in the fold, would you consider him as a backup/mentor to Trent Edwards, especially after JP moves on? He had some very good seasons, and plays a similar style. Or is there just too much stench of losing around him since his injuries?
  13. I predict that he'll get injured and miss his first start ever. The football gods don't cotton to this nonsense.
  14. Luckily, they still have a dominant defense with Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor. ...wait.
  15. Honestly, there's a part of me that would just like to see him play the Bills twice, because he's a legend and I haven't seen his games against our boys.
  16. I believe that it's the first actual regular season game (the Thursday night opener) rather than a player's own first regular season game.
  17. Look, if Jason Peters or Steven Jackson wanted to play football, absolutely nothing is stopping them from firing their agents and hiring someone who'll get a deal done. They know who's out there. They work with people represented by every different agent out there - it's not like they feel they don't have options. Eugene Parker has chosen the tactics that are approved by his clients, and and while I'm sure he's pressuring them to take a hard-line stance, Peters and Jackson are big boys. They could say 'no' any time they wanted to, with nothing to lose.
  18. Eric King, he of zero interceptions, zero passes defensed, zero starts, and 19 total tackles since leaving Buffalo? And Justin Geisinger, who has played in two games in his entire career?
  19. Do you start all those players? Because I think Garrard is going to have a good year, and Marshawn, Drew, and Graham give you some really good flexibility.
  20. I think Campbell's gotten a bum rap through Al Saunders' bizarre offensive schemes. Evidently it works if you hvae ten years experience (see Todd Collins), but without it, it's really hard to play in. Campbell will be a good QB.
  21. The question of every draft this year has gotta be - who bites on Brett Favre.
  22. Yeah, but even if it doesn't work, it'll make his other clients more likely to trust him during a holdout - if the agent assumes the risk from multiple players (Peters, Hester, Jackson), he makes them all much more likely to hold out. With multiple hold outs, he'll get shot down a few times, but if he strikes gold once or twice, he'll get paid back.
  23. What do we get if we trade Peters, end up with a top-5 pick, and take the best tackle on the board? Somebody who will get paid as much as/more than what Petey wants, except with the possibility that they'll go bust in the NFL (see Gallery, Robert).
  24. I wonder - let's say Peters' holdout ends in a $50,000,000 contract. His agent gets 3% of that, or $1,500,000. Is is possible Eugene Parker has offered to pay Peters' fines for him? What's a few days at 15 grand if you've got a shot at that kind of money?
