I’ve never liked the captain designations. All it does it allow for an avenue of jealousy. If not from players, family members pull on those strings. It’s just one less thing to worry about non team unity.

Because people are obsessed with current ness. It’s nothing new. People have fought change in any form since the dawn of time. It’s not like these would be permanent fixtures, it’s an alternate to experiment with different vibes. If a blue helmet was implemented, the next generation of fans would grow up with it and they’d be saying the same thing when someone went to change it. They’d say things like it’s too minor league, or whatever. Denver had nearly the same blue helmet as this concept and not many ***** on it. People are just mentally attached to what they know and feel comfortable with. It’s human nature and I’m not mad about it, but that’s the only reason why people are hating on a bills blue helmet concept.

Would be nice if someone posted a helmet pic of that, just to see how that looks. White face mask as well. I still don’t understand why the NFL has limited it to 2 helmets only. That still doesn’t give owners much room to experiment.

Our current blue is a royal blue, which is the photo I originally posted which matches. The problem is a blue Buffalo on a blue helmet looks off. If a blue helmet happens, chances are it’s a white Buffalo or a red one. Charging or still makes no difference to me.

Right, but not everyone outside of the NFL sphere uses that darker blue as a base. UK and BYU both have lighter blues that pop. 99% chance we go red helmet with the alternates so this is all moot anyways. It’s not that I like a blue helmet per se, just looking for something different that the bills could use to mix things up a bit. Team colors are blue, red, and white. So we are limited in a color base if you want to remain traditional. I don’t mind that helmet you posted. Just make it white face mask with the bills current red/blue colors. Can anyone make a photo of that? Would be nice to see it.

This looks more like the Giants than the Bills royal blue. Although I wouldn’t hate this.

I dunno, I just think it pops. I’ve always been partial to blue/white with red splashed in. It doesn’t seem like a lot of people want it, so it probably isn’t happening.

I wouldn’t hate that. But I think that is more of a minority stance than the blue helmet. There are plenty of blue helmet teams throughout college and some even in the NFL over the years. I personally think a blue helmet worn in a few instances with the white uniforms would look interesting and would be something to distinguish the Allen era from the rest.

Teams can’t wear the alternative helmets until next season right? I figured they would have released the information before the beginning of this season, but I guess not. Does anyone know a time?

I don’t hate the red helmets, It’s just a different era with a different team. I guess I’m the only one that thinks having a new identity look once in a while isn’t a bad thing. People really do hate change, even if it’s temporary and periodically. “An alternate” lol

This, I don’t want the blue helmet to be a full time thing, just an alternate. Nobody dumps on the Denver throwbacks, or the U Kentucky or BYU uniforms. I doubt the blue helmet happens until the NFL further changes the rules. Not many teams are going to have a new design given that only 2 helmets are allowed, which is dumb seeming how it doesn’t give much room for owners to experiment with. That’s the thing, it works because of past euphoria. At some point new needs to happen to see if it will become accepted. Right now the team is limited in white and red helmets, because that is always how it was. People hate change.

Everyone hates on the blue helmets, but the Broncos throwbacks were nice.

No no, I mean in terms of the NFL rules. Before it was 1 helmet, now the rule is 2 helmets. So I doubt a brand new concept helmet will be used, it will probably be the red helmet by default because the team has already worn it. I mean I don’t understand why place a small limit. I can understand like 4 or 5, that way teams can pick and choose periodically which ones fan bases like and which ones they don’t. Which is fine, everyone is entitled to their opinions. The main reason I wanted the helmets to have its own thread is because NFL teams are going to have realistic options to pick from now that the rules are changing. I would dislike for the helmets to deviate much from team colors, so blue is the only alternative since we already have white and red helmets. So I guess blue will never happen. I’m not sure, I haven’t heard any kind of rumblings about it. I just thought it would be pretty cool for Allen and team to have their own identity concept to associate with. It doesn’t mean they never have to wear the red helmet or the white ones, but I thought it would be awesome if they had something of their own to have as an “alternative” .

I get it, I loved the SB era and there is a sentimental attachment to that decade. I guess I’m to “new school” , but I’m young enough to be super welcoming to change. Not necessarily change for the sake of change, but if something is worthwhile, I’m ok with it. I just don’t like seeing the Allen era be merged in with a Kelly era, I want distinction. It appears the red helmet throw back is going to be the alternate helmet choice anyways. I still don’t understand why more alternates aren’t allowed once in a while. There isn’t much of a way to avoid it. A blue helmet is always going to be associated with the Giants, because they are the only NFL team to have blue helmets. I haven’t seen very many well designed blue helmets. The blue buffalo with the blue helmets was even worse than the white buffalo. It seems like no blue helmet is EVER going to please the fan base, which is unfortunate because it means the team is never going to have anything new.

When do teams release the news about the alternate helmet anyways? I haven’t seen any NFL teams 2nd helmet choices yet.

I totally get the sentiment. I also like the current teams look. It was just a thought experiment more than anything. It doesn’t appear many teams are going to have their own alternate “new” helmet. It will probably be relegated to throwback designs. Like period? Zero chance of a blue helmet no matter the design? Are NFL teams even allowed to have the alternate helmet be a new design?

Understood. A throwback is fine, but why limit a team to throwbacks only? It would be nice to have a new look once in a while for the Allen era.

This is probably going to happen, given how many players (Diggs and a few others) have wanted the red helmet. I think we will find out over the next few days, seeming how I haven’t seen any official news on the matter. The Giants are the only ones that have the blue helmet look.

I mostly want change so this team can have its own identity. Red helmet just screams Kelly era. I want Allen to have his own era and team look. The blue helmet doesn’t have to be a permanent thing, just a stand in.
