He is a good player. He is not a player that makes a large difference in a wins and losses. Very few tight ends do.
NE literally dominated the division with TEs for years. They make a huge difference in that offense.

Not good. He is legit

There is some buzz circling about Gronk to Buffalo. I refuse to believe it.
There is zero buzz about any of this. Only place Gronk is playing is Tampa. I swear people just make up crap

Not a huge fan of this move. I want to see the contract breakdown, but hopefully it is low cap this year, with the ability to get out after 2 years.

Judging by the amount they are over the cap by it did catch up.
I went on on Spotrac a few weeks ago and there was no easy answers like cut XYZ players and all is good.
They have a huge mess
The salary cap is fake.

Salary a little high, but glad they spent in on Williams and not Feliciano.

Makes zero sense why the Bills are not doing this with their guys. The cap is a joke. If you want to consistently win, do this stuff every year.
6 minutes ago, FLFan said:KC kicking the can. Makes sense. Win now, worry about later at some future time. It will catch up eventually.
Teams like the Saints have been doing this forever. It never catches up. The cap will always be going up from here on out.

I will be extremely disappointed if players who are obviously going to be here for the next 4-5 years, aren't restructured to free up space this year.
The Bills need to capitalize on this last year of cheap Allen.

He's got so many people on his side, GM, HC, and DL coach. They must believe he has untapped potential.
He's going into year 6. Only had one good year. How much untapped potential can really be there? Potential is just another word for no results.

Bills are in the position to get cheap productive vets looking to play with a throwing offense. Keeping Brown made zero sense at that dollar amount. Hoping to get a vet making 2-3 million in here.
-
This paycut better be massive, cutting would have saved close to 7 million on cap.
The guy was terrible last year. A complete no show when he was healthy, and was unreliable. A cap hit of 2 million would be about right for this guy,

These teams are working on two different timelines right now. Beane is trying to prepare the cap for when Allen is being paid top dollar. The Bucs have a ton of cap space starting in 2023 and will either have Brady on a discount or a rookie salary QB by then so it makes a ton of sense for them to push money out into the years where they don't need it vs. Buffalo avoiding that fate because they know they're going to need the money.
We are not even sure how good Allen is. Go all out to win a Superbowl. Worry about the future cap, when its going to sky rocket in future. If Bills play it safe this offseason, the conference championship will be the peak we make it to.

I don't know why, but it seems like Cleveland always has money to spend.
Thank you both. With a new TV deal and it being a near certainty that the cap will be significantly higher in 2 years, this type of structure makes complete sense. Savings of $X amount this year is much more impactful than $X amount of dead cap in 2023. Maybe we'll see Beane do the same type of thing.
Doubt it. Beane hates dead money. He also isn't very creative with the cap because of how much he is scared of dead money. Just look at Morse. Bills could have saved almost double if they converted Morse's salary into bonus, versus the paycut. Would have resulted in more future dead cap if cut. Same with Hyde, didn't change this years cap so they don't have future dead cap if they cut him.

Who is TBD's resident cap expert who can explain what this means?
Pretty much just means a ton of dead cap after these two years. Something I think the Bills should do. This cap is going up, get some immediate gains, for future strain.

Completely disagree. When you have 5 concussions you are basically playing on borrowed time to begin with. They had an out and should have taken it. Josh needs to be paired with a young center for the next 10 years (Landon Dickerson?) and while it's fun to picture Morse starting for 16 games it just isn't likely to happen.
How many games missed since he has been a Bill?

he'd be a great fit as a #2 in a few roles

No, that is not what you said. You said he would go 4th or sooner.

Listen I'm not saying the kid is Barry Sanders. And yeah he may have had a top notch o line for the Mac
But he was the focal point of every team. He faced loaded boxes and teams brought the house regularly
He really had to work through a lot of muck in his career
And he was an all American who is bringing UB football more respect so that alone is enough.. he did everything and more ever asked
Somebody will take him in the 4th .. with a specific scheme fit role

I think Feliciano is going to find out quickly, his view of himself is a lot higher than what other teams think.
To me, he isn't much different than what we signed him for 2 years ago (2 years 7 million). At the time he was viewed as a low end starter, backup versatile lineman. Same situation now, but with more injuries

I thought Hyde lost a step. Still seems like a good player though, but the price is a bit steep.
Yeap, don't understand this at all. Just don't understand why we aren't looking to improve that position. It certainly wasn't a bright spot in 2020.

Wouldn't surprise me if Watt is waiting on one teams to work the cap and contracts of current players. Could be Bills, or another team.

Well, to be fair, Syracuse was in the final 4 just five years ago and the elite 8 just three years ago, so I think this take is a bit much.
That said, yeah things have been pretty bad the past few seasons. For this 2-3 zone thing to work, you at least need a big shot blocking center in the middle. Boeheim has had immense trouble recruiting bigs.
I have been a Boeheim apologist/defender for a long time, but I’m beginning to think he just needs to retire. His stubbornness is maddening.
I think all these old coaches need to retire.. Izzo, K, Williams, Boeheim

Crazy to see how far Cuse hoops have fallen. Feel like its been years since they have been relevant.

Draft Milanos replacement and use the savings on a OL that can run block
OLB has historically been one of the easiest positions to transition to the NFL. Most times, you can get 5 good value years (1st round picks) out of LBs.

I guarantee he goes before the 5th round. And his actual physical attributes are dime a dozen
But the most important traits for a back... vision, elusiveness, toughness, and brake tackle ability, he has in spades
The latest he will go is mid 4
I really don't think he goes before 5th. Playing the MAC will hurt him and also having an elite Oline for the MAC will also hurt him.
His vision is alright. Going to be a lot tougher to break tackles in the NFL at his size.
