The defense was fine. Tre was in perfect position. Hop caught the ball and would have had to bring it down over Tres body....the Poyer comes crashing in, blasting White out of position and Hop makes the catch uncontested. Sad to say, but we lost due to friendly fire. Definitely a fluke play.

What are you talking about?  Poyer was late on the play, he even said so himself.  By the time Poyer got there, Hop already had position.

This is such a hindsight comment. IIRC mastermind Bill Belichick did this with Gronk couple years ago and we know how it ended. I've read people advocating that Knox should've been there. Lol. Knox of all people. Same for Davis. We had good personell there, and they were all in position, they just failed to execute. Or Hopkins just executed better.

Same for taking that TO. Maybe it helped Arizona, but it also helped us to be in position. Before TO complete secondary was guarding 1st down line. Maybe Hopkins would've burnt them if they snapped it immediately at people would be blaming McD for not taking TO.

It was a great play by Murray and Hopkins, that's all.

That's just not true.  You didn't have good personnel when the WR was the tallest player.  Really, you could have put 11 guys on Hopkins, it's not going to matter if they are all shorter than him.  You can't do anything before he touches the ball, so the amount of players on him means nothing if he can get to the ball before any of the other players guarding him.  It's like it basketball when the forward gets a guard on him and immediately the PG will throw it to him.  It's bad coaching to allows the guard to switch on forward, same situation with this.  It's another example of bad coaching.

Oh for crying out loud; they had their 3 best DBs in position to compete for the ball against a single, 6’1” WR. They didn’t get it done. If that’s bad coaching I don’t know what to say.

It's a jump ball where the tallest man wins, what the heck does the amount of players have anything to do with guarding him?  Those DBs can't touch Hopkins until he goes up and catches the ball.  He was in the endzone already, good thing those DBs tackled him from running.

WOW! Announcers just talked about why Poyer AND Hyde are so important to our defense. Everything they listed, well, wasn’t a counting statistic.

    Funny how that all works...

Hahahaha, great play by Hyde on the Hopkins catch.  Was he trying to hold him up so he can get higher in the air, or trying to keep him in bounds?

I thought Hyde is back there to prevent long catches.

Maybe go off your Mark I eyeballs looking at the game?

Ah, yes, Football Outsiders - Aaron Schatz outfit that pre-draft called Allen "A parody of an NFL quarterback prospect..... We don’t want to say there’s absolutely no chance he’ll ever be good.....but there is zero empirical evidence to support him becoming a reasonable NFL starting quarterback.  ... Allen is the battleground that old scouts are going to die on, whether they’re right about it or, as all evidence suggests, wrong about it."

and last year doubled down: "“I’m just not a Josh Allen believer. I do not think there is an NFL starting quarterback in there waiting to come out and develop. And if I’m wrong then, you know, they’ve done a lot to give him help, but if I’m right then they’re still in trouble.”

The bottom line is, these types of analytics have two types of fans: those who embrace them, and those who are stone-cold skeptics across the board.  Count me in the latter group.

There are positions in Football that McDermott refers to as "unselfish positions" because when they're done according to their assignment, they don't rack up much in the way of simplified stats, and they're problematic for modern analytics (the sort that use subjective eyeball grading to generate objective-looking numbers) because the grader doesn't know the assignment.  You really only notice them when quality play isn't there.  OL, interior DL, and FS are among those positions.

Still waiting for you to acknowledge that your take "It's crazy how Hyde playing or not playing has zero effect on this defense" can possibly be supported when we just haven't seen the Bills play without Hyde very much (and I'm hoping that doesn't change this weekend, assuming he's healthy enough).....

The eye ball test is not good with Hyde.  He is routinely called out by the broadcasters as not being in the proper position, you can go back and watch the Tennessee game if you want multiple examples.

The defense has not been good this year.  Hyde has been called out with mistakes, he is not putting up stats, and his PFF is not good.  Seriously, someone tell me where he is supposedly impacting the game?  I could see if our defense was playing lights out, then I can understand saying he is 1/11 of the greater good.  However, he gets to play with a guy like Poyer and White.  In terms of the NFL, Hyde is in bottom tier of FS.  He is getting older, not sure why people get so worked up over it.  It's like they have blinders on for him because he was once our best defender.

  5. 2 minutes ago, JGMcD2 said:

Yes, because passes defended and INT tell the WHOLE story.

PFF also has an unbelievable formula that isn’t subjective at all...

If you don’t recognize that a player can still have a major impact for a multitude of reasons outside of PFF grades and INT... then well maybe you need a new hobby.

I'm confused at what stat I should go off?  Should I go off our defensive passing rating?

The DVOA for passing is 17th in league.  Please tell me what I should use to show Hyde makes a large impact of this team.

I brought AIDS in to pose a hypothetical question to you, but you already know that.

It was to point out how different the reaction of Trump supporters would be if HIV was an airborne virus.

Rather than answer you went to the weakness of insulting. That's what you folks do.

I know you can't answer without exposing your own foolishness, so you can insult me, again. Ya got nothing else.

All while chapioning logic, just to add a level of self-parody.

Whats the difference between airborne AIDS and COVID?  Really confused what makes the difference between HIV being airborne or COVID being airborne.

Not going to lie, it's tough to think like a liberal.  I can't go that low on the IQ scale.

If AZ plays a predominantly man scheme, they have no chance of stopping this offense. Allen and Co. have shredded any team that’s tried it this year. You can’t turn your back on Allen, it’s that simple. I think AZ plays more of what we’ve seen since the Titans game.

On the flip side, Murray struggles most vs zone, something the Bills play a lot of.

    Thanks for proving my point.

You're in Robbie's avoidance class, now.

You brought AIDS into a discussion that had nothing to do with AIDS.  I had no idea why you needed to make a metaphor, when it was completely unnecessary and did nothing to change my stance.  I change your AIDS words to COVID, but somehow I proved your point?!?!  Buddy, I have no idea how you have got through life your logical sense.  It is just not on par with the average human.  Congrats on overcoming.

    You still don't understand? Really?

If AIDS had been found to be COVID is airborne and those infected refused to wear masks in public, would your opinion have been that they have the right to walk around without masks and that we must protect our national freedoms?

If you can't answer that honestly and instead change the subject, everyone here will know you're a phony.

That you didn't understand isn't surprising.

I don't understand why your trying to take a non-airborne deadly disease, and acting like its an airborne deadly virus.  We already have COVID as the deadly airborne virus, there is no need to try to make metaphor.

You don't have the right to kill other people by ignoring the common good.

Too many of you think it's okay to ignore the virus no matter the damage done.

If AIDS had been transmissable by air, I bet you would have had a 180 degree different opinion. That would have been different, right?

You have the right to swing your fist until it hits another person.

    Stop being a selfish prick.

Man you liberals go to the extreme worst case negative side right away.  How do you people live?

The only other people I would be "killing" would be the people that also have the same viewpoint as myself.  I'm not going into someone's house that is isolating themselves.

Hahahaha, what the heck does AIDS have anything to do with this?  Where did that even come from?

Selfish prick for doing my job and providing for my family.  Got it.

Regardless of whether or not you think the media's coveraage of the virus is a "hoax," it's absurd the persident of the United States is doing nothing at the moment while the virus spreads out of control throughout the entire country.

Everyone is well aware of the virus, this is a land of freedoms and decisions, you as your own person has to make the decision of how you want to combat the virus.

You should try a spell check.

I laughed hard enough at "and then try to lateral it to the mascot" that I had a coughing fit, because it's true.  Even when he screws up (which is getting less frequent) it's still entertaining.

It's really not true though.  Allen makes very little mistakes that top QBs also don't make.  This whole narrative that Allen is always running backwards making dumb decisions is lazy and outdated.  Allen Int rate is on the low end and his fumbles are becoming on par with other top QBs.

Allen's mental lapses are no different than any other top QB in the league, it's just that everything he does he viewed as a negative by the majority of the media, because they like to hate a guy for no reason other than they can be correct about something 3 years ago.
