Can't wait Monday night can't come fast enough

Me either. However, I don't feel good about this game. Bills have terrible Monday night football record. 49ers defense is picking it up and they have a healthy Misery, Ayiuk, and Deebo. Addiitionally, the 49ers are in the fight for their life to make the playoffs. It's a must win. I think the Bills play well but fall just a little short. I don't see us stopping their elaborate run schemes. 49ers 27 Bills 21.

Very arguably! Hes not that great. Bush was probably a bigger loss and they overcame that just fine. With that being said, God I hope we beat those #### dbagz to shut up their terrible fans.

I think the Bills shock the football world and beat either KC or Pitt to get to the Superbowl! Call me crazy...

Well he’s our sack leader with 5 and the team is on pace for around 46 sacks.  Not great, but also not horrible.  It would be nice to rack up the pace with a much more aggressive style than they started in the beginning of the season.

I think the Bills have found the best way to utilize his strengths. He has now become an asset for the team.

Jimmy G being out is big. Very good news. I feel much better about us going against Mullens. Really no excuses here in this one.

Mullens is a downgrade but the 49ers just beat a Rams team with him at QB. This won't be an easy game for the Bills to win. It's a good test to see how good we really are. We shouldn't have any excuses not to win.

Yeah. I watched the game and virtually all niner games being out West. Their offense is not great with Mullens and they did have a defensive score last week. If we can shut down their run game, they won't be able to put up a lot of points. Alternatively, their D line made a lot of plays against the Rams. I think it's a game we should win, but could be similar to the Charger game in that it will feel painful and close for a while- if not throughout. I just don't see us blowing them out.

Good post. I'm concerned about us containing their running game. Their scheme is really good. I guess we will see if our run D has improved.

That is ..every.. team’s ultimate goal.  But to say that every season that doesn’t end in a Super Bowl win is not a successful year... just creates an unrealistic and unattainable goal.

The Bills have not won the division in 25 years.  If we manage to hold on and win the division, have a better record, and win a playoff game for the first time in a generation.. how can you call that anything but a successful year?  Unless you’re just here to throw a wet blanket on every conversation and try to get people riled up?

I would consider that a successful year. Yet, I would be disappointed that we have not won it all. Both are possibly I think?

From Matt Fairburns "10 final thoughts".... and milano comes back soon. so ya, i'm justifiably optimistic moving forward... but by all means. you do you, boo.

    3. Buffalo’s defense has turned a corner. The Bills aren’t a perfect defensive team and are still susceptible to teams overpowering them with their running game. But the pass defense is back to playing the way it did in 2019 when the Bills had one of the league’s best defenses. In the first six games of the season, the Bills were fifth worst in the NFL, allowing a passer rating of 106.9 to opposing quarterbacks. They also allowed 12 passing touchdowns and had only two interceptions during that run.

In the five games since then, the Bills are fourth best in the NFL, allowing a passer rating of 77.3. During that stretch, the Bills are also third in the league in both passing touchdowns against (4) and interceptions (6). While they had games against the Jets and Patriots in that five-game period, the Bills also had to face Russell Wilson, Kyler Murray and Herbert the last three weeks. If the Bills can continue to limit top-notch passing attacks, they have a chance to make some noise in the playoffs.

    4. You want another stat that shows this defense is back to what it was in 2019? The Bills have 17 sacks when blitzing this season. That number is third in the NFL. A year ago, the Bills were third in the NFL with 22 sacks on blitzes. The Bills are also fourth in the NFL in ESPN’s “pass rush win rate.” Regardless of the metric you use, this defense is starting to get after opposing quarterbacks and that’s leading to better results.

Well thought out post backed up by stats. I agree the pass rush is improving. Oliver is starting to be more impactful. It's a little concerning that we have to blitz so much to cause pressure. Our front still lacks a quality disruptor. Our major D flaw is the run defense. Missing Star in the middle certainly hurts. Edmunds isn't reliable, perhaps hurts, and misses many gaps. Not sure how we will get better at stopping the run. No doubt teams will exploit this. No defense is without flaws.

Agreed.  If we beat SF (I like our chances), our path to 11 wins is much easier.  If we win division, I see at least 1 playoff win.

I see one playoff win and then we lose. Is this considered a successful season?

    You're crazy.

We are a good team and we will probably win a playoff game, but we are not making a deep playoff run.  We are too inconsistent (a theme we've seen the entire season) and while Josh is playing very good football, he's not playing at the level he did early in the season.  Most of all, I think we lack a killers instinct which will come back to bite us in the playoffs.

I like that our defense is improving, but at the same time, it looks like our offense is regressing (especially in the turnover and general sloppiness standpoint).  For a deep run, our defense would need to maintain the way it has since the Seattle game (performed well against high power offenses) while having our offense get back to early season form.

    Well said.

the defense has worked their way into the top 10 in sacks and to's and is now 18th in points against.... i can deal with the yards given up, as long as those 3 stats keep trending in the right direction.

Did you just conveniently forget about mentioning our run defense? 18th in points isn't a playoff caliber defense that can stop elite offensive playoff teams. I admire your optimism. Nevertheless, I'm not sold on our defense and it is worrisome as a fan.

The rams are a legit playoff team and will be there. The fins have a top 5 defense and will probably be in the playoffs. Stop dancing around solid points.

the chiefs are much better than everyone. The steelers? Very good team. 10-0 because of the weakest statistical schedule coming into this week.

i love how you bash your own teams schedule to make a point but totally disregard it to prove another point about Pitt. That basically shows your hand.

EDIT: Fins have a top 5 d in points allowed. Not overall. So i should say a good defense, not a top 5 unit though.

Except that’s literally the opposite of what happened yesterday. The defense came out and shut down a top ten offense. So maybe let’s wait and see on that assertion.

Following your previous posts logic it's funny how you choose to minimize the previous 10 games of our defense. Shows your hand. My assertation is based on 11 games. Our defense remains a huge concern going forward.

We have played a very tough schedule, and battled with injuries, and had several schedule issues related to Covid.

Our  defense held SD to 17 points, prior to that they we averaging 27.   Milano coming back next week.

You could not be more off the mark.

I don't think my view is that far off. Our defense has been sub par. It is worrisome. We really haven't stopped the run all year and our pass rush is improving but still a concern. I believe this team has to win with Allen carrying the team. This year our defense is more a liability than an asset.

Come on man, this stuff still? They’ve played 11 games and have won 8 of them-you don’t get to that point by beating only terrible teams. You’re nitpicking the Bills and using the other teams to fit your narrative. I could easily switch around the narrative foe their losses-for the Tennessee game there was so much uncertainty including game planning for 2 teams, the weather was bad for the KC game, lucky catch on a Hail Mary to lose to Arizona, etc....I mean you’re worried about getting blown out by Pittsburgh-they have some close wins against bad teams this year!

the point is every team has had some pretty suspect games this year, that being said you don’t get to 8-3 by only beating cream puffs-this isn’t college football

Fair point. I'm not saying the Bills aren't a good football team. I do give them credit for being 8-3. I believe we will win the first round playoff game this year. What I'm saying is the Bills aren't  super bowl material! Not this year. Also, we will have our hands full with other teams like Tenn and Indy. Is it a successful season if we win one playoff game and lose the next? Perhaps, this fan is starving for that ring!

If the playoffs started today the bills have 3 wins over 3 teams that would be in. Rams, Seahawks and fins.

Heading into this week the bills had played 7 teams with winning records. Steelers have played 3. what schedule would you argue better preps a team for a playoff run?

you’re looking really foolish here, my man.

Not really. The dolphins aren't that good and don't belong in the playoffs. The Rams are wildly inconsistent and just lost to the 49ers. Seattle is really the only legit playoff team we've beaten. I think any unbiased football fan would agree that the Steelers (KC too) are much better than the Bills regardless of their schedule. You are foolish to suggest otherwise.

You're right. Let's just hang up the cleats right now. No point in even playing the games. Newcam2012 has deemed the team a failure. Might as well play for the draft now.

Not saying that at all. Please don't misrepresent what I'm saying. I understand my view point is unpopular. I stand by my premise. I'd be the first one who would like to be wrong. It's always been unpopular to speak negatively about the team. Honesty and realistic expectations should be encouraged on here not crucified. Your post highlights such a thinking error.

Coming into this week Pitt has statistically played the easiest schedule in the whole league. And KC couldn’t “destroy” us the first time we played.

quit with this..... Sure they’re better teams right now but the bills have shown they can play with anyone on a given day.

Coughed up 3 4th quarter to’s and STILL won by 10.

defense just gave up 17 to top ten offense. You people suck today.

I hear what you are saying. I strongly disagree. Come playoff time it's a different animal vs the regular season. The Bills will get destroyed by the Chiefs and lose by double digits to Pitts. We just aren't in their league. Our defense isn't good enough and our offense tends to under perform vs good teams. Additionally, you talk about strength of schedule. What strong teams have the Bills beat?

They must be better than Josh Jacobs and Derek Henry who we held in check.  Bills have shown they can stop the run.  If anything I was most surprised how they got gashed in the second half of that game.  Bills D looks to be able to stop 1 thing run or pass but not both.

The statistics show Buffalo is 26th in stopping the run. More specifically, 31st in the last 3 games and Dallas is worse. Hardly, a singing endorsement. Sure, a team can sell out and put extra players in the box to stop the run. Bottom line is that we have a serious problem stopping the run which in term effects the pass defense. We sorely miss Star in the middle.

“I think he could be a serviceable qb” means you think he’s a bust

Depends on how you view the situation. Yes a bust due to his draft position. No to a bust because he should have never been drafted that high. He had by most experts at best a 3 round grade. So, I guess you can say the Giants brass blew it. I'm not sure the blame falls on Jones. We are making lots of assumptions here too.

Hoping this turns out to be a trap game for Seattle. Coming off a big win over their biggest rival (49ers) and next week another divisional game against the Rams. Seattle is good but they are beatable. Miami gave them a tough game at home and NE almost beat them on the road. I agree the Bills probably aren't on the same level as the Seahawks. They do have arguably the best QB in the game but I still think the Bills have a realistic chance to pull off an upset.

    Thats more tham fair.
