  1. Are people here defending Oliver?  I admit, I haven't read all the comments...  but the article says the police were called on him.  He was swerving outside of his lane, had an open beer on his lap, was clearly intoxicated enough to warrant a blood draw to determine the blood alcohol content (and when the lab results come in, numbers don't lie), plus he had an unregistered fire arm...

smh if people think this is a police issue and not a "bad behavior issue".

Anyways, from a TEAM standpoint, I think this issue "stings" but but we have some depth at DT.

What Oliver did was stupid....but I've made the same mistake when I was younger and I would so most of you have too.

The majority of you have had roadies.

    Um.... no....

Both players IMO are good depth.

The 1 hole on OL I see is starting RT. Hopefully someone can solidify that position. Everyone else is at least average for their role.

Hey there.  I think we are actually on the same page.  I wanted to add an upgrade at RT (backup) in the draft, that could push to actually start (and upgrade starting RT).  I thought the draft would ahve been a good way to upgrade RT.

We just signed AJ Klein to fill that role. How is that a hole?

I don't see the OLine as a hole...I see it as likely trending sharply upward if only for continuity.  In a pretty wide ranging analytic study the highest correlation found in relation to good OLine play was continuity.

I agree.  CONTINUITY is a big factor with O-line.  Players need to build trust in one another and know how to switch off etc.  However, if a guy isn't performing.  They need a replacement.  Our OL is not a glaring problem, but it can be improved.

The entire OL is a hole?

    No of course not.

I would say that OG and OT depth is very weak.  Spencer Long, and Ty Nsheke could use an upgrade IMO.  I would have been happy if we picked OG and OT in the draft.  A few youngsters that could push the starters.  But the draft has to "fall" that way (and it didn't). There was only one round where I had an OG as my top pick and Beane went another way.  That's okay.  We will survive.

Shhhhhh. You get blasted for saying anything negative about #17. And as you  can see very few, if any, are not posting the really biggest question mark on the team: #17

    lol.  I've noticed that.

But I really don''t blame Allen, honestly.  Our starting WR's last year didn't exactly strike fear in opponents and if Allen is holding the ball, it's because he doesn't see anyone open.

I know they might not be in the top-5 or even top-10 in terms of high end talent (no Von Miller/Myles Garrett type of Freak), but overall I believe we may have the deepest D-Line in the league.

As a base defense, With everyone healthy, we can make two starting caliber defensive lines and have a starting caliber player as my 9th defensive lineman...

    Group 1:

    LDE: Epenesa

    1-Tech: Phillips

    3-Tech: Oliver

    RDE: Hughes

    Group 2:

    LDE: Murphy

    1-Tech: Lotulelei

    3-Tech: Jefferson

    RDE: Addison

    Extras: Butler & D. Johnson

Our starting lineup is very good, no doubt.  I'm actually a little higher on Jefferson (if he can stay healthy) over Oliver but I'm sure I'm in the minority on this board.  A 100% healthy Jefferson is one of the better DT's in the league if you look back at what he did in Seattle.  I do still think we could add a replacement for Lotulelei, and Addison as both are average in my opinion.  HOWEVER, saying that, as backups, that's not bad.

Best in the league?  Good moves by Beane this offseason for sure!  Epenesa is going to be a difference-maker, and and Jefferson is excellent.  If Oliver goes down, the DL won't miss a beat.

I took some heat during the draft by stating that I think that a draftee could actually start on this team.  I agree.....  I overstepped while getting all wound up and excited about the draft.    ME  <------------  eating crow.

REALLY what I was so worked up about was my MAJOR dislike for Lotulelei.  I really wanted him gone this year, and replaced with a youngster with starting potential.  I was even holding out AFTER the draft, and hoped that we would land UDFA Benito Jones, and/or Raekwon Williams, both of which I think WOULD make our roster at least on the practice squad.

So yes, this is a great DL now that Beane made some changes over last year.  We were average against the run and while that has to do with linebacker play as well, I just didn't see our guys eating up blocks and/or making their way into quarterbacks faces often enough.

This year we will see an improvement.

    Can't wait!!!

  5. Wow a lot of you are very high on the current Bills roster!  I am too, but I'm reading that you think that a 5th rounder will have a hard time making the team.  I disagree completely.  This team has a long way to go to become an "automatic" playoff team like the Patriots were for so many years.

For example, our DT's are BELOW AVERAGE, and I could actually see a rookie 5th rounder earning the start before the end of the year.

Yeah, I definitely completely missed that. And, I completely agree. It hurts to remember the times it was our strongest position.

I'm not sure he'll be there in the 7th. He could easily go in the 5th. If a team has few holes to fill and it's a choice between a kicker with a really high chance of securing that position (remember how bad kicking has been lately in the NFL) for the next several years or a position player likely not to make it out of camp on the active roster, I'd go kicker.

I agree with you.  He will likely be gone by the 7th.  I guess I'd consider him with one of our 6ths if he's the BPA pick.

I know I might be in the minority here, but I'd love a young QB.  Jake Fromm is fascinating!

I agree, although do we actually spend a 4th on him with all the other needs we have?  How would that affect Allen's leadership?

I'm not sure how much stock to put onto the profootballfocus stats and ranking system, but according to them, Our weakest starter is DT Star Lotuleilei (actually CB Josh Norman according to his 2019 stats).

I think that there's some truth to that.  Hope Norman rebounds, and that we address DT and CB in this draft.
