Barkley already on IR and not on roster.
-
IIRC, he is someone I was interested in back in 2020 before he signed with Da Bears. He can play both G and T. He may be a bit of a better guard than a T (struggled with penalties playing T for the Seahawks), but as a reserve, he's got that experience we lack right now - 😘 By George, I Think He's Got It!

Speculation and discussion on Bills final roster cuts

Take a Chill Pill. Despite his nod to Von Miller, it seemed pretty clear Lavonte David wanted to stay in Tampa where his kids are in school and stuff. Bobby Wagner wanted to "go home again" to Seattle. Drue Tranquill is someone the Bills could have signed, in theory. You got one there. Who are these "any average players" that you feel would be better than what we have? -

Yes, but it's not a salary move. It's a roster move to place a player on IR- eligible to return, which requires the player to be on the 53 man roster initially. So tomorrow they place whoever (Spector? Shorter? both?) on IR and re-sign Ferguson (and possibly Klein) -

Yes. The story is they initially got Seabiscuit a goat, and he responded by picking it up with his teeth and throwing it over the stall door. Potential new QB signings for the Bills, Beware. -

Well, I would be in favor of bringing in Kirksey, so I'd love to see the source/tweet/X Kirksey love: -

Hopefully not too massive. Since we play a nominal 4-3, we want to save our massive for DT and OL -

OK, no need for those weekly game day threads. Someone on the Internet has Spoken Oh, Is He Now? Who reported this? -

Holy Guacamole Batman! We kept 10 DLmen (plus Von Miller on PUP) and 11, count them, ELEVEN, DB Yowza. Klein is a vested vet and does not have to clear waivers. Spector will go on IR and Klein will come back tomorrow (IMO). IIRC, they usually give the guys who do them a "friendly" that way, a little "cookie" in the form of guaranteed $$ or a little extra bonus. -
Sheesh, that's gotta sting. A couple years ago, guy was drafted in the 2nd round 61 overall. Today he just got traded for a 2025 6th round pick (not even a 2024 pick!) and the Bills had to give change in the form of a 2025 7th rounder. Personally I think Beane got fleeced a bit, but likely the rest of the league was aware that it was a bit of a "fire sale" since someone had to be cut.

Logically, the Philadelphia Eagles should not have won the 2017 Superbowl since they went 2-1 in the regular season with Foles...and then 3-0 in post-season -

Clearly we on this little board can not match the football wit and wisdom of this WGR caller: I don't know who Paul is, but I must raise him one: 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ -
Throwing elbow Unclear if he was injured during the Steelers game where he stunk up the joint, or whether he stunk up the joint because he went into the game with an injury Bills QB Suffers Elbow Injury Amid Disastrous Preseason Performance | Heavy.com

So we should start referring to Kyle Allen as "Pumpkin"? -

"Strain" is the generic term for excessive stretch and/or tearing of a muscle, just like "sprain" is the generic term for excessive stretch and/or tearing of ligament. Like sprains, strains are graded according to severity from Grade 1 (NBD) to Grade 3 (serious injury, may require surgical repair) My guess from the duration would be he had a Grade 2 strain, meaning it hurt and swelled and needed several weeks rest, but not surgery. "Healthy" for a football player returning from injury is a relative term; he likely is "healthy" in the sense of being able to practice now, but he's going to have to get into playing shape. And for a 30 year old guy, injuries do tend to linger. -

Let's wait and see what we actually did. -
He was indeed. But I would argue that the Bills at least got some value out of the 1607 snaps and 29 starts he played for us over 3 years. They weren't uniformly bad; in fact, enough of them were neutral or positive that Beane was lured into thinking it was all injury probs and he would improve going into 2021. Boogie Basham played 590 snaps and had 0 starts. Most notably when he got his snaps in the playoffs due to injuries, he persuaded Beane to pursue DL in FA

Kirksey injured a hammy and missed most of training camp, including all 3 preseason games. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/what-led-to-kirkseys-release-from-texans/ar-AA1fUg5y -
The people saying "center isn't that important they just need to snap the ball to the QB" need to re-boot; I thought the critical role of the C in setting protections and communicating changes in protection was well-known by now FWIW, Humphrey pre-draft said he could play G. What he had to back that up, I don't know. Maybe the Bills thought "not enough evidence there". Or, maybe Beane honestly felt Cody Ford could still "be that guy" in 2021. I don't know.
