I’ve now seen him straight up miss four throws. That one on third down led to a punt.

I don’t get it. Maybe because I watch Josh Allen every week, it makes guys like him look average? I mean he’s not a terrible Quarterback by any means but for all the hype and people saying he’s a top-five QB….. I haven’t seen it yet.

Yea that was a tough drive for Herbert…have to hit that 3rd down pass at the very least

I don’t know… I haven’t been overly impressed so far. Couple way off target throws. No big wow plays.

I don’t watch a lot of Justin Herbert, but so far I don’t see anything special. I don’t get the hype. Maybe he’ll pull something out later to change my mind.

He seems like he understands the position better than mahomes but mahomes is an absolute freak athlete.  That play where he hung in the pocket that looked like it was collapsing at first doesn’t seem like much but it was pretty impressive

Like I said, if the dolphins go in to Baltimore and win the ramifications for this game will be huge.

Dolphins played us pretty tight in the 2nd game in Buffalo last year despite ultimately losing.

At some point they are going to beat the Bills again and week 3 presents a prime opportunity for that.

Not sure what’s prime about it other than the two teams are actually playing against eachother lol it’s early in the season when they’re still getting used to a new offensive scheme and they’re on the road against the superbowl favorites as probably at least a 5 point underdog. Their glaring weakness from last season still appears to be an issue as well and tua is still making critical errors

Before everyone breaks a finger writing that we didn't trade Diggs for Jefferson, the end result is exactly that.  I'm hard pressed to think of another trade that was more beneficial FOR BOTH SIDES of a trade.  There are plenty of trades where one side gets an incredible value and the other side gets hosed, but I think both the Bills and the Vikings got more than they could've hoped for in this trade.    Knowing what they know now, I think both teams would still make that trade today.

    Week 1;

    Jefferson - 9 catches - 184 yards - 2 TDs

    Diggs -       8 catches - 122 yards -  1 TD

You have to give Justin Jefferson his due, he is amazing and may be a better pure receiver than Diggs is.    We'll never know if the Bills would have drafted Jefferson had they not traded their 1st rounder for Diggs.   I suspect that if Jefferson had been drafted by the Bills he would probably excel here too.  He's just an incredible talent.  But the Bills needed more than just a true WR1 when they traded for Diggs

Beane was looking for a WR1 with a veteran presence in the locker room to help this team grow.  He knew Allen needed someone who had been around and could help Allen take that next step.  With all the talk coming out of Minnesota about Diggs being a diva, I don't think the Bills could ask anything more of Diggs than what he has already given this team since his arrival.   I don't think this franchise is where it is today without Diggs in a Bills uniform.

The Vikings are relevant because of Justin Jefferson and have an elite WR1 on a 1st round rookie contract and they can build around him for years.  The Bills have a veteran WR1 in Diggs who is elite in his own right and who has bought into "the process" making Allen and everyone else in that locker room better by being there.

Admittedly, I'm not a student of the game like many on this board are, but I can't think of another trade that did more for both sides than Diggs/Jefferson did.

I don’t think you can really evaluate it as Jefferson vs diggs because we really traded  a draft pick for diggs and Jefferson should not have been available at that pick anyway. Had McDermott 100% known Jefferson would’ve fallen to us maybe that completely rewrites history. The eagles completely botched their wr pick at 21

Titans fans don't seem too impressed with Allen's performance Monday and keep talking about how Tannehill is better than Stafford and how they match up better than the Rams did.

I think they are in for a rude awakening.

Vegas doesn’t seem to think so…bills are early 7.5 point favorites.

It’s funny how much that bad luck interception seemed to brainwash other delusional fanbases lol josh set the bills single game completion percentage record and outside of one not great throw he was pretty much perfect.  One of his incompletions was that ball that hit Mackenzie right in the mitts and was intercepted and at least two were drops.

but apparently none of that matters because it was a multiple interception game

  6. Our wacky streak of every win being by 2+ scores and every loss outside of the colts game being by one score seems to be continuing into this season lol. That lower than expected win total last season is seeming more like bad luck than anything…it’s getting impossible to explain how a team that beat so many different teams by multiple scores went 0-5 in close games

He had the most touches, averaged 2.5 yards per carry and 3.5 yards per catch...and he fumbled.

    • Moss:  6 carries for 15 yards (2.5 ypc) and 6 rec for 21 yards (3.5 yards per catch).
      • NOTE:  8 of his 15 yards came on one carry.  His other 5 carries went for 7 yards and a fumble (1.4 ypc)
    • Devin:  8 carries for 48 yards (6 ypc) and 2 rec for 7 yards (7 yards per catch).

Devin was literally two to three times as effective in every facet of the game, and did not turn the ball over.

But that is not even the issue...the issue is our RB's only got 15 carries...when you have only 15 rush attempts, you get your best player most, if not all, those carries.  That is not a heavy workload for a RB.  And Devin is without question the better player.

Devin runs just as hard, if not harder than Moss and with better vision.  Moss has this myth about him that he somehow the more powerful runner and better short yardage back, but it's just not accurate.  There isn't anything Moss does better than Devin...and I don't say that as if Moss is a bum, it's just Devin is flat out better and has been every day these two have been on the roster.

I am not down on Moss, nothing personally against him, but he honestly had the worst game of any player on either side of the ball Thursday night.  If we were a heavy running team, then great, split the carries.  But given the limited amount of carries our RB's typically see, we don't need a committee to handle that workload.  Give the better player the touches.

So, it's not that I am down on Moss, I just don't want to limit our better RB to 8 carries to get a RB that is not better than Devin at anything touches.  And while Cook fumbled too, he at least brings more dynamics to the RB group with his speed and receiving skills.

I’m with you on the fumbles but it’s not exactly an apples to apples comparison between singletary and moss that game.  Some clever play design opened up a few huge holes for singletary and moss was mostly running into a brick wall all night.

After last year's brutal collapse in the playoffs, if he does something similar again it won't be his decision.

The Bills are trying to win a Chamionship, and if someone can't execute you need to make the tough decision, that includes coaches.

Completely disagree with the overall claim in the post…I think it would take quite a few years of first round playoff exits for the bills to move on from mcd.   but to partially play along I think McDermott probably learned his lesson with calling timeouts after seeing the offensive formation which was partially responsible for that long completion to Kelce.

Even though this was game #1 of a long season, the magnitude was huge.  It was like they had to prove to themselves they are a legit SB team.  And Josh running around like that was playoff-esque.  I would hope he and the coaches scale it back going forward.  Just no reason to absorb unnecessary contact.  Every sports show on TV today was talking about it.  Slide, go out of bounds, throw the ball into the ground, etc,,  I think we will see more of that going forward, and then in the playoffs he will unleash the running Josh again.

Even beyond making a statement it was a huge game.  The first half of the schedule is loaded with tough matchups and beating the rams gives us a lot more margin of error. Now we’ve got a win and a mini bye week to prepare for the titans and get to 2-0.  Getting to 4-2 or even 5-1 at the bye would be great cuz after a tough game against gb the schedule cools off a lot in the back half.

On the Cooper Kupp TD Von Miller did a spin move and was right in Staffords face as he threw. The guy is still elite, and I still can’t believe he came to Buffalo from LA after a super bowl win.

There can’t be a better feeling than going to a team and single handedly transforming an entire unit like he did last night.  In LA he was great but always overshadowed by Aaron Donald it seems

One of the comments on a PFT article:

    https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2022/09/08/thursday-night-football-josh-allens-four-touchdowns-power-bills-to-31-10-victory-over-rams/

"Best QB in football. Best D in football. Deepest roster in football. Titans watched this and are not focused on week one because they know theyre losing week two. Best fans in football."

There also seems to be a lot of concern from about the upcoming game on the Titans forum.

Titans were dangerous last year because aj/Julio torched us in play action when we started slowing Henry down. I don’t think they are nearly as good of a team this year.

I disagree with this "he's going to get hurt" thing from fans.  Why?  He's 6'6 and 240 lbs... and can take linebackers for a ride.

Why aren't you worried about Matt Milano getting hurt with all the running and thumping he does?  Josh is a LOT bigger!

Sure, there's a risk of injury every time Josh runs around, but I don't think it's close to what fans think it is.

I do support him NOT RUNNING at all against bad teams or when the score is run up.

We need all we have against the big boys, though, and Josh running is the most dangerous thing we do.

I've been saying that for 3 years now and it's still true.

The injury risk on designed qb runs is actually very low. Pretty much every study on this subject concludes that qbs that carry the ball a lot don’t really have that much higher risk of injury than pocket passers…gnarly stuff happens in the pocket too with linemen falling on top of you and fingers getting broken on helmets and getting a concussion smashing your head on the turf during a sack etc. he should definitely chill out with trying to hurdle dudes for sure though lol I hope we see less of that kind of stuff

With how good Benford looks, and with Elam’s contributions coming partially on special teams tonight, it leads the mind to wonder what other 1st round pick we could have acquired rather than a DB that is a depth player in a backfield that is missing it’s starter.

Or we can be excited that we got two starting caliber corners to add to a unit without much depth last season. Who cares which one of those two guys is better 1 game into their career

Sure they had turnovers….not all on Allen.

    they only scored 10 pts…..

Had to hit a longggg fg to even get 10 too

looking at how tough this first half of the schedule looks, idk how somebody can look at this road win against the rams as anything other than huge.  But op did it somehow 😂

It’s still undeniable that Josh took hits that will be his undoing. We will turn him into Cam with these dumb exposed plays.

The injury rate on designed qb runs is actually surprisingly low.  Qb rushing attempts don’t correlate as much with injury risk as most think

All this talk about Super Bowl expectations and I agree this team is built for it and that is the proper expectation at this point.

HOWEVER, this team went only 11-6 last year, if not for the extra game we would have been 10-6, that's not good enough for a Super Bowl front runner.

We need more consistency and focus during the season. We can't lose 9-6 against the Jaguars, we can't get our doors blown off against the Colts at home, and we can't be a no show in the first half like we did vs Tompa.

We got hot at the right time down the stretch starting in the 2H of the TB game, but down the stretch we faced only 1 winning football team and that was NE. We had the focus vs Panthers, Falcons, and Jets but we should have beat those tomato cans. We had to expose Allen to running more to get there so I hope we solve those run game issues this year.

All in all last year we were only 5-5 vs teams with a winning record in the regular season last year, 6-6 including playoffs, we need to do better if our expectation is Super Bowl. This falls on both coaching and players to prepare and execute.

Our goal right now is #1 seed, bye, and home field advantage. With only 1 bye available with the expanded playoffs, #1 seed is even more important. And with the scheduling rules matching is up with last year's division winners, those games vs KC and Cinci are playoff games and should be approached that way. Those games will determine our seeding and home field for the playoffs.

There is no just happy to be here. We need to be out for blood every game.

I hope Josh Allen absolutely shreds Jalen Ramsey tonight. Stick it to every hater, everyone that ever doubted you, laughed at you, looked at you the wrong way, smirked, we obliterate them all. Starts tonight.

This year I want the foot on the gas, killer instinct from this team. No letting teams like Atlanta hang around into the second half. No playing down to Jacksonville. Blitz the hell out of teams no sitting back with leads.

What improvement are you looking for from this team this year?

I talk about this nonstop lol.  We squandered away the 1 seed last season with a rough patch in the middle of the year.  The chiefs are nearly unbeatable at arrowhead barring a mahomes once in a lifetime second half meltdown that I would not count on happening again. The only other playoff game they lost at home was via the OT coin toss against NE.

I do think we were a bit unlucky in some of those very close games we had an expect some of that to even out…but it’s pretty much indisputable that there were a few game like jax and Indy where we did not play very well
