For sure.  The rams have been blowing their wad since the 2016 draft and won a super bowl in 2021 (2022).  It caught up to them prior to their SB season and then again this year, but they’ve been to 2 Super Bowls and won 1.  Like I’ve said (and we all know), there are several paths to building a champion.  The path the dolphins are taking has been travelled before and has Lombardis to show for it.

They have an extremely talented roster.  Time will tell if the FO is capable of maintaining it….. or capable of winning a super bowl.  The team doesn’t even know if they 💯 have a stud franchise QB and they’re contenders (imo).  Not sure why anyone would frown on what they’ve done other than because they’re scared of them.   The team has been basically nonexistent for decades.  They aren’t anymore

The 2022 dolphins are not nearly as complete a team as last years rams.   They don’t have enough capital to fill in the offensive line and some other big holes now and I think tyreek will be on the downswing by the time they can put all the pieces together.  I don’t want to call their offense gimmicky per se but you pretty much know it’s going to be quick passes in the middle of the field with tua at qb and I don’t see them sneaking through a tough AFC playoff in the short term where good defenses will know exactly what’s coming

if the defense didn’t take a big step back after the departure of Flores maybe it would be a different story

I think the Tua situation will be easy to manager for them, unfortunately for us.  If I'm them, I let him play out his contract and even test FA.  I don't see another team throwing a lot of money at him.  Tua looks to be benefiting from the system and those around him, not a guy you can put on any team and make them better.  He will still get paid, but as of right now, I don't think he breaks top 10 money.  Therefor, I don't think the Dolphins are in any rush to sign him.

Fortunately for us, they won't have the money to pursue a Lamar if he becomes available.

The lost pick for tampering might haunt them…they still have a lot of question marks predominantly on the offensive line but they could use some coverage linebackers too.  This Bradley Chubb move will undoubtedly help them short term but I think they went all in a bit too early and it’s gonna hurt them in the long run.

  3. They got more value than chubb is worth imo…he’s still gonna help the dolphins for sure but the broncos won that trade imo.  A first and they upgraded a 5th round pick to a 4th in addition to getting his contract off the books.  Also got chase Edmonds but that’s not worth much

doesnt make their 2018 draft any better obviously but I’m not gonna mock them for the Chubb trade

Reading through the thread, do the people who are negative about this trade realize we literally just gave up a 6th round pick? If we draft a player in the 6th round and cut him after training camp no one bats an eye. Even if Hines is somehow a complete bust for us we don't lose anything worthwhile, we just cut him after the season for $0 dead cap. We might as well have gotten Hines for free. Hell I'll trade the 6th round pick just for the privilege of knowing I will NEVER again watch Zack Moss singlehandedly kill one of our drives.

I love the trade but I’ll try to speak on the other sides behalf…I think they wanted a bigger name rb or a receiver instead lol

Hopefully I’m wrong, but I really don’t envision him doing anything on offense that we don’t already get from Motor and Cook. Definitely a big upgrade over Moss though and the price was a bargain.

Hines is faster and a better route runner than both the guys we have.  As far as pass catching goes he’s a significant upgrade

    over what we had before.

That has got to be the strongest bourbon someone has ever drank to come up with that thought.

I’m curious if it’s the same people that have hyped the dolphins up the last few years or they have won over some new converts 😂

their defense has been bad in a way that a pass rushing linebacker won’t help them much…they have 0 offensive line depth and a pretty bad starting group to begin with.  People seem obsessed with offensive yards as the indicator of how good a team is these days.  If we’re assuming teams are getting healthier down the stretch I’d much rather see Miami over baltimore and kc

God you are an effing idiot.  Stop being a troll.

What do you think the point spread will be in December when Miami plays the Bills all things being the same as now?   Miami plus 10-16?  You know it's true, so stop with this pound for pound nonsense.  And even if Tua proves to be serviceable, he is light years behind Allen. That alone makes the Bills roster substantially better.

He must be still respecting their defense as if they were playing under Flores still.  That dolphins defense is miles behind ours, their offensive line is worse than ours, skill positions is pretty close, qb they are far behind us as well.  If tua can get the ball out quick to his first read he’s great…but he’s average at best in all other circumstances

they’re going wild in passing yardage but have not been scoring particularly well by comparison. there’s less room for tyreek to blow by people the closer they get to the end zone

Cook is averaging 5.5 ypc and 15 ypc on a handful of catches.

So not sure how arrived at this conclusion.

Cook was a 2nd Round pick, and outside of his fumble against the Rams, he looks like he belongs.

In a vacuum, if you just made him the starter today, and gave him 14 carries like Singletary got against the Packers, I think he'd be fine. I think he'd average +4 ypc and look like an NFL player.

I don't understand why the Bills are rolling Cook out so slowly. Congrats to them for figuring out Moss was useless, but Hines comes in and plays above Cook right away? Not sure the reasoning on this.

Better route runner…Hines is pretty much a receiver

Massive power move by the Dolphins.

I know some here will continue to downplay them and act as if they aren't a real threat, but I'm not so sure the division is a lock for the Bills now.

In fact will go as far to say this puts the dolphins right up there, possibly even surpassing the Chiefs, as the biggest hurdle to get to the SB now.

If they weren’t a couple games behind already I think people would be more worried.  I don’t see a whole lot of losses left on the bills schedule.  The dolphins still have a below average offensive line and a qb that doesn’t go through progressions well and don’t cover well on the defensive side.  Even if they pulled out the win in buffalo I don’t think they’re catching us still…they have a pretty tough 4 week stretch coming up soon:

    @49ers

    @chargers

    @bills

    home vs GB

Bills will likely have the first round bye and Miami is pretty likely gonna lose the 3 seed vs 6 seed or 4 seed vs 5 seed road game

Ceasers sportsbook did this as well...

Piling on .. I rate it...

It just makes no sense to me long term…the dolphins spent pretty much all of their rebuild resources and then some to be the 4th or 5th best team in the conference.  I would’ve taken my shot with the picks odds are they are probably getting a better player than Chubb with one of those.

stats wise they are probably gonna have to roll with tua now but if they spent some of that cap space and signed Lamar they’d be insane also.

You all told me Moss couldn't be traded. I knew Beane was up to something when he didn't even touch the ball the other night.

Beane is a wizard and this is an Upgrade for us. How much to be seen lol

I don’t think he added much value the colts are just taking him to fill up a roster spot imo

I love Hines and he basically cost nothing.

I hate that the Bills used a 2nd round pick on James Cook.

I don’t think it reflects on cook as much we people think it does…he’s still in the long term plans but rbs have a lot more responsibilities than people think and the bills want a veteran back there while we’re in win now mode

hines has the skill set to line up at wr

Here's the thing.  I like Hines.  He's a good player.  He is basically what they want Cook to be, but without the rookie mistakes.  He's a consistent back that will be able to line up in the slot and catch the ball out of the backfield.  He'll be able to help Cook along the way and hopefully allow Cook to be ready to be the player they hope he turns into next season.  But this is a move for now.  They've been chasing a "type" and not a specific player since the offseason and they finally got one.

All that said, they certainly focused their attention on a position I don't think is nearly our biggest need.  Here's hoping they know something about OBJ coming here when he's ready that we don't know.  But hey.....it's a new toy and in this type of offense, I think he will make some plays for us.

Hines can line up at wr…it’s an absolute steal for a 6th and moss.

Hines makes Cook irrelevant- I don’t like it right now.

Dolphins beat us already and add Chubb.

Dolphins beat us by 2 at home with us missing 5 offensive linemen and our entire starting secondary.  They really need some coverage linebackers kind of odd seeing them go pass rusher

Under contract for three years. What does that mean for Cook, giving up on him already?

I mean we needed another weapon on offense but WR is a much bigger need.

Hines plays a good amount of wr…great move if we didn’t give up a ton.  People only care about name recognition though I guess

You’re leaving out two aspects. Chubb is a known entity. He’s not a bust and he’s on the team this year. No waiting to develop or play next year or 2-3 years down the line.

I’m not leaving that out.  He’s a known entity that hasn’t really had a great year since his rookie year and he comes with some injury risk.  They’re shelling out capital to be the 4th or 5th best team in the afc imo but we’ll see how it shakes out

helps then short term sure, but does it help them enough.  Long term I think they’ve been on the wrong end of quite a few trades but we’ll see…I certainly can’t see the future lol

People keep saying that but it makes no sense. You bulid through the draft but people overrate picks sometimes. Fact is Chubb is a really good, young proven nfl player. What guarantee do they have to get a player better than him in the draft? Tua is still really cheap.

It’s ok to give credit to Miami for making moves while still thinking the bills are better than them. Our division, which was the worst in the nfl, has improved tremendously this year. Luckily, most of the qbs suck.

Chubb takes multiple times as much cap room as a rookie pick would…that’s the flaw in your logic.  Picks are much more valuable than plugging in a sizable veteran contract.

I would have no problem giving Miami credit should they deserve it…this has nothing to do with being jealous of a division rival or anything like that.

with buffalo and kc and baltimore in their conference though, I’m willing to bet they’re more than a Bradley Chubb away.   There’s a small chance they prove me wrong and find their way into the Super Bowl but I very much doubt it

they haven’t traded picks to the extent that LAR has but that is what happens to your franchise when you can’t turn your roster over with young talent on rookie deals

Dolphins just sunk their team in the long run for a win now type trade when they have almost no chance of winning now.  They’ve also hitched their wagon to tua long term who isn’t much more than a one read qb.

Ok, sleep on the Dolphins but they aren’t going away and they have the tie breaker if they should go on a run and the Bills lose a few games.

They were just a play away from losing to the lions because that defense is a sieve…Bradley Chubb isn’t going to change much.  Flores had that defense playing much better…they’re not much better than last season they’re just different.  Much better offense but much worse defense

They’ve gotten a lot better, Jeff Wilson can run and Chubb can disrupt our suspect OL. We’ve already lost to them this season without those guys

We were also missing 11 starters in that game lol dolphins are still weak on defense and offensive line and they are blowing draft capital and cap room on good not great players
