I wouldn't mind this selection. Can never go wrong in the trenches, right? Put the best 5 out there, however/whomever.

Huh? Is this a contractual thing? It certainly wouldn't be stupid.

Its all about asset management.  If there is a sure thing WR or Edge, you draft that player, and assume you lose him after five years, total win for the drafting team.
If there is no surefire edge or WR, you move onto to a position where you will be able to afford the second contract, and if the player hits, you actually want for 10 years. That is Jackson Powers in this draft.

That was going to be my pick Jackson Powers Johnson that would give Josh his Kent Hull for years to come . Not sexy at all but talk about a shocker !!

If Jackson Powers is there at 28, I would be disappointed if the Bills passed on him.

McConkey is absolutely a volume receiver year one. You don't know what you are talking about. Also, I don't think "dissident" means what you think it means.

Autocorrected disappointment. And if you follow the thread you will see I support McConkey over legette.

It's been explained quite a bit, but McConkey lined up on the outside close to 80% of the snaps. Folks who are painting him as a gritty slot receiver are mistaken. He's the best route runner in the draft and faster than I think many folks imagine. He'd be a great pick at #28.

I like these fella's rankings. If you go to the 46 minute mark, they make the case for McConkey.

If the pick in the first is a WR it will be dissident they can’t make major contributions next season.  It seems like a losing strategy to use first round picks that need development.

Would not hate this.  There are a few non-receivers I would sure like to have on five year deals.

The problem is when I do mocks (and I have done an embarrassing number on every simulator), there are no wideouts I want left by 60 save Roman Wilson and Piersall -- and those two are there only some of the time.  If we go non-WR in the first, unless we move up I think we step down in class to people I like, but don't like enough - Thrash, Baker, Malik Washington, Rice, McCaffrey.  I am fine with all of those, but not as the best wideout we get from this draft.  I think we need a receiver #1 - it is a premium position and the talent is there to lock up a good one on a cheap five year deal.

Tempting, but he is built like a walking stick.  Have you seen photos of his legs?  Look like wrists!

The best explanation I heard -- and maybe it was Marino - is that what counts is separation.  If they are all separators, some similarity should not be a detriment.

Shakir demonstrated competence but it is not like he he is copper cupp or Wes Welker in his prime.  if McConkey beats him out,

I t is a good position to upgrade.

Unless the Bills trade up for MHJ or Nabers, half of this board will hate the pick and instantly declare that they are no longer fans of the team. And even if they do trade up, some on here will be mad that they gave up too much. It really doesn't matter who it is, at least 50% of TBDers will think that they could have done a better job than Beane.

Aside from Josh Allen, TBD consensus has been probably about as good as Beane.

No,  I'm not joking at all.  I don't think most NFL teams are going to be guilty of it,  but outside of that,  a lot of people are going to take one look at a white guy playing CB in college and immediately assume that he should move to safety in the NFL.   Maybe if he'd posted some pedestrian numbers at his pro day.  Instead,  it was borderline freakish,  especially for a guy one month clear off a broken leg.

NFL will be a racist as the next guy when reviewing CBs.

  8. The reason to draft WRs or edge rusher early is to get players who can contribute immediately on their first contract. That is McConkey among these two. Honestly, I am hoping Jackson Powers-Johnson falls to 28 and we sure up the center position for a decade.

Yeah I don't think he is the answer, but they should punt on the QB in the first round this year. They will not be able to jump the Vikings so they should trade down for an extra 1 next year like the Bills did in 17. They have very little capital.

If the next Mahomes is in this draft and falls to Jets position, I very much hope they trade out of the pick.

So what do you think he will do? Beyond your "he has seen Von in practice and is happy" which as I say cannot be true because they are one week into phase 1 of the offseason, what is your theory?

My theory is that the Bills are looking towards 2025. And the 2024 strategy is to go as far as Josh Allen can carry them.  Relatively inexpericenced OC's and DC's are set up to be the fall guys for 2024, if Allen can't carry them to the playoffs.  I don't think Beane is worried one way or the other about 2024 pass rush.

The organization couldn’t do an extensive search. They were already in the links before most teams finished the season and any other serious candidate is too wrapped up in their teams’ playoffs. The Sabres will be more aggressive and be accountable under Ruff’s leadership. Can we really ask for more?

    Asking is free.

he loss of declining Poyer and Hyde is not as large as it's being made out to be, neither is the loss of Diggs,

Its not about the loss, its about the expectation that replacements will not be as any better.

Vegas doesn’t lose as a general rule, therefore the only power rankings I see as useful are those with money on the line.

Bills are top 5, of course that’s Allen carrying a 10-15 roster, but Allen is a Buffalo Bill and is the difference.

Where do you see the Bills top 5?
