I think youre being to detailed in trying to plug guys into other guys (not that there is anything wrong with that)

Like I said upthread, I think we adjust the Offense back to what was more successful under Dabol, and that is spreading the ball around instead of forcing it to just 1 or 2 main guys (where 1 of those "holes" is).

    Coleman

    Samuel

    Shakir

    Kincaid

    Knox

    Cook

Another WR will be our... 7th option? 6th at best? How many are lining up each play? No more than 4-5.

And that isnt counting the amount of running plays we need to run either. Also not counting Hollins, Shorter, or even Isabella.

I wouldnt call it gaping, other than missing Diggs' talent.

I'm sure we'll bring in a vet after guys get cut. That's all we really need at this point. Doesnt have to come from the draft.

Daboll spread the ball around to WR’s mostly.

Beasley and Diggs had over 270 targets combined.

John Brown and Gabe Davis combined to another 114 targets. Davis was clutch because Smoke was hurt for much of the year.

Then you had Knox, McKenzie and Singletary with 128 targets combined.

So when you ask, do we need a 6th or 7th reasonable target, especially in case of injury, the answer is YES.

And lost to the chiefs... imagine if they had to go through the chiefs in their conference.

    Yeah there’s some luck there.

there’s also some horrific team building philosophy that makes us v Chiefs in the playoffs a one-sided affair.

A Trent Sherfield-level player starting at boundary WR  in the divisional round is UNACCEPTABLE in today’s NFL. A pox on Brandon Beane for watching that bum alligator arm it, then chasing a second round safety.

Sorry…but…You don’t know what you are talking about if you think there is any similarity between Coleman and Gave Davis.  And I’m gonna guess you only made that lazy inaccurate comparison over a 40 time that was improved upon at his Pro day too.

I said he’s a WR2 Gabe Davis replacement because that’s who he’s replacing. We still have a WR1 Stefon Diggs-shaped hole on the roster. Keep up.

There's been a splash move every 2 years (Josh, Diggs, Von) and now when nothing happens, people are upset.  Besides, usually a solid foray into UFA.

This is where the regime is now: out of money and with a smaller complement of picks they can't maneuver up with (at least on Day 1 and 2).

Fans gotta get used to it.

The Eagles have managed to win a Super Bowl, retool their roster, make splash move after splash move, and get to another SB with a different QB all in the same time as Josh, Diggs and Von while having an all-around more talented roster.

We are led by the Ghosts of the 2015 Panthers who want to have 9 DL depth players and force Josh to make magic happen throwing to Devin Funchess 2.0 and Ted Ginn Jr.

The expectations should be higher. Beane would be a goner the way he wastes top end picks if he didn’t knock the Josh pick out of the park

It’s just such a trash draft in general. I have a tough time complaining about Carter. The talent left at the end of the third this year would be found in the fifth round in a more typical draft. I get why they’d take a safety as they have a huge need there. Bullard is probably my favorite pick of this draft so far. It’s good to have a safety that can cover a TE. I am disappointed in the trade with KC as well as Coleman. I hate WRs who lack lateral agility and can’t separate. I’m not sure how he’s all that useful in this offense. However he is young and possibly hasn’t fully developed as a player yet so there’s some hope. Still, I’m not a fan.

GB nagged Bullard 2 picks before us

The upper end of Coleman's statistical range is possibly higher than that but also, statistics only go so far in expressing a player's true value.

I don’t think so. He may have an outlier year or two where he goes over 1k but his career avg imo will be like 900 yards.

He could end up being better than that,  but I can also see him being a guy who makes a handful of highlight reel receptions on 40 catches for 400 yards.

It’s just hard to make a living on contested catches as your elite trait.

Coleman had the same problem McConkey did. I suspect both will be solid pros. I don’t think they have elite ceilings.

If Worthy hits, he will be elite. If Legette hits, he will be elite. If Nabers/Odunze/MHJ hit, they will be elite.

If Coleman hits, he will be a Mike Williams-type guy who gets paid WR1 money without WR1 production and you will eventually want to move on from.

    My expectations are based on:

    • Being picked at #33
    • Gabe Davis' production
    • Dalton Kincaid's production
    • Joe Brady's spread the ball offense
    • Heavy usage in the red zone

Keon will have 600-700 yards and 6-8 TDs as a rookie and his numbers will improve about 20-25% as his career peaks. He'll make a disproportionate amount of big plays and his run blocking will be a big part of the offense.

Yeah, an 800-900 yard season career player is exactly the kind of low ceiling guy I didn’t want lol

In this topic Keon Coleman has been compared to the following bigger receivers, most of whom had middling 40 times (I may have missed a few):

    Kelvin Benjamin

    DeAndre Hopkins

    James Hardy

    Courtland Sutton

    Kenny Golladay

    Vincent Jackson

    Cooper Kupp

    Brandon Marshall

    Plaxico Burress

    Gabriel Davis

    Mike Evans

    Keenan Allen

    Mike Williams

    Terrell Owens

    Puka Nacua

It's also been brought up that slower receivers like Jerry Rice, Steve Largent, and Antonio Brown had great NFL careers.

I think the following points are indisputable:

    • No one here knows what Keon Coleman's career will look like (we might think we do but we don't because all of us have been wrong about players)
    • He was drafted 33rd overall
    • A slower 40 time does not guarantee failure in the NFL
    • Play speed is different than timed speed
    • Based on his RAS, the game tape, his multi-sport exploits, and professional opinions, Coleman is an elite athlete EXCEPT for top end speed
    • Besides elite athletic traits he brings size, toughness, elite contested catch ability, and elite blocking ability to a WR room that had none of the above
    • His size, toughness, and unique traits will translate well to cold weather, late season and playoff games when DPI becomes legalized

What do you predict Coleman will produce at the NFL level if he isn’t a flat out bust?

40 times are irrelevant. Go watch a football game and tell me how many times you see a receiver sprint 40 yards in a straight line from the line of scrimmage. It’s insane how people will discredit a player who is obviously good on the field. We’re drafting this guy to catch the ball over people. We haven’t had someone who can do that in a very long time.

He can’t get off press either.

We basically took a guy with warts (and lots of WR’s at that point had warts) and his elite skill is the worst elite skill to have.

For all the whining and bellyaching about Coleman being our first pick (I was disappointed myself) it’s time to man up and admit that none of us are draft experts…some draft analysts had Franklin going late 1st, and many of us would’ve been happy taking him at 33.  For those in here who had Franklin going 4th round, where have we erred, and why were we so wrong?

you don’t have access to medicals or interviews. It’s not so much being wrong as not having all the info.

How many teams took 2 WRs so far? Cuz ya know double dipping should help teams that have bad WRs like Baltimore and Arizona and Carolina....

Carolina traded for a WR. And picked one higher than we did.

Arizona picked the best WR in the draft at #4 overall.

    Good points all around.
