  1. Yes yes, he has that Super Bowl “DNA” which has been clearly expressed with two playoff wins in a decade. Just a born playoff and championship deliverer. the list of coaches who won 1 Super Bowl and never won again is A LOT higher than coaches who have won multiple. I love this. Sean Payton did it three years in a row with one of the greatest QB’s of all time. Tomlin missed the playoffs 4 years with Big Ben. Pete Carrol missed the playoffs twice with Russell Wilson. Josh Allen isn’t Tom Brady and McDermott isn’t Bill Belichick.
  2. This analogy is not good. Really not like a coin flip at all.
  3. He could be. That’s pretty rare though, no?
  4. That’s what I said. In your opinion, basically, they get gigantic leashes because they won a Super Bowl 10 or 15 years ago. That’s fair if you think that. I would just let you know that if McD pulls off an SB, you better be okay with making him coach for life because we’ll be there too. I personally don’t think that though. I don’t think the Steelers are waxing poetically about that Super Bowl in 2009. I think they think Tomlin is a good coach and until he proves otherwise in the form of a couple disastrous seasons, he stays.
  5. How quickly the bar changes to "they've made the playoffs a couple times" lol. That's kinda the point. Here we are discussing firing an HC who is potentially going to miss the playoffs for the first time in 5 seasons, and propping up another coach (who folks consider a pretty good HC) for making the playoffs 4 times in the last 8 years with ONE playoff win in that span. Pretty funny.
  6. Are they more expensive that losing $5M of guaranteed income?
  7. While football is ultimately a results oriented business, the process of how to maximize your chances to achieve those results is much more interesting and detailed than “doesn’t matter, just win the Super Bowl.” Trey Lance was a bad selection. If the Niners win, the fans won’t care. The owner won’t care. The football people will still care. They will want to know how they got it wrong, why they got it wrong and how they can do better next year. If not winning the Super Bowl is a failure, 31 GM’s would be fired every year.
  8. Why do you think Harbaugh will get his second first? Because he won 1 a decade ago? I ask because generally, Harbaugh is considered a good coach. He has had his fair share of down seasons and is given a lot of grace for one magical year a decade ago. Since that year, he has made the playoffs 5/10 seasons. He has 2 playoff wins to 5 playoff losses. He had Joe Flacco, who was a franchise QB if not an elite one. He has Lamar Jackson now, a former MVP who is at the very least considered very talented in todays league. And despite all of that, he has had MULTIPLE rough YEARS. Missed the postseason 4/5 seasons after the SB win. Missed the postseason 2 years ago. Has one playoff win since 2015. I guess my question is, do you think Haurbaugh should’ve been fired at any point between now and 2012? Or do you think that he basically gets the job for life because of that Super Bowl win and outside of an egregious basement dwelling stretch, he’s good enough to keep around?
  9. The Eagles usually have some of their base personnel in when running it. What’s stopping them from audibling and laughing while Torrence tries to rush the passer?
  10. You know that Gronk famously whiffed on a last second play that lost them a game, right?
  11. Can I ask a question? what separates a coach like Harbaugh from a coach like McD? Besides winning a Super Bowl a decade ago (and never sniffing another one).
  12. No, it’s only the coach’s fault when the players suck and don’t make a play. When they do make a play, it’s because the player did good. @HappyDays
  13. I did. I had him as a potential trade target. The Colts were clearly moving on.
  14. See if he was signed to start at the slot, I think that’s a total whiff. Harty is a gadget guy. That’s where he made his name. Sure he had one year with 500 yards, but he was the Saints #2 WR in targets with a horrific group. Somebody has to catch the ball. the next year was cut short due to injury, but he was immediately relegated to a nothing role regardless. 4 games, two targets. Who were we bidding against for a guy like that? Furthermore, what was his envisioned role with Hines healthy and cemented at return duties? Did we really pay that for a guy with one statistically mediocre season to be a starter? To be the backup return man? Neither makes sense. Total gaffe.
  15. I don’t understand why these athletes don’t take out gigantic insurance policies for stuff like this. just seems prudent.
  16. The market has spoken Bill. DB’s, specifically corners, are the second highest paid defensive position, just behind pass rushers.
  17. Who do you foresee becoming available this season?
  18. You can be wrong for the right reasons and right for the wrong reasons in the NFL. The Chiefs, now famously, took CEH with pick 32 after winning the Super Bowl. He wasn’t a bad player, but it was a “luxury pick” because their team didn’t have too many holes. It was bad positional value, a pick made without eyes on the future. Tee Higgins went the next pick. 3 years later, their WR group was predictably dangerously thin, and they still won the Super Bowl with Pacheco and McKinnon leading the RB room, who were a 7th rounder and FA scrap heap player respectively. It was bad positional value, and easily replaced by superior players with less capital invested. They were right, for the wrong reasons. this year, they are STILL dangerously thin at WR, and it is costing them games. They may STILL win the Super Bowl, and thus still be right, for the wrong reasons. But if they don’t, that’s the pick that will be the reason why.
  19. It was a prediction that was mostly an indictment on Dorsey, if I knew he was gonna be fired, I would have gone higher!
  20. @Kirby Jackson smashed it
  21. Deal. To be clear, it’s not that I don’t think he’s deserving. It’s that I think MVP historically almost always goes to the best QB on a team with the best record with a nice little narrative. Vegas knows that. The narrative won’t change from one game.
  22. I will bet a LARGE amount of money. Even if Allen and the Bills beat the Eagles, Allen will not be top 3 in MVP odds the next week.
  23. Elam got pulled because he was AWFUL. Keeping him out there, because the guy behind him may not play as awful, and it not working out is not a bad coaching decision.
  24. What playmakers do you want Beane to sign now?
