I’ll let the market set itself there. In my mind he’s just a rich man’s Shaq. Time will tell. Certainly not what Clowney expected. He got so hyped in college he lost sight of reality. I’m in for a fair deal.

The fact that Shaq Lawson got signed before him is hilarious. He completely way overvalued himself and now he’s paying the price for that. Take what is offered to you and don’t B word or complain

Don’t like this guys attitude and even on a 1 year deal I’m hesitant

I think he’s gonna have to humble himself by taking  a 1-2 year vet minimum deal, he thought he was hot ***** and overvalued himself only for it to fall back on his face. Miami reportedly offered him 16 to 20,000,000,000 a year he wanted 25 to 30 a year, Miami told him good luck lol.

It wasn't a flat out denial and Newton may have to settle for a backup spot.  I also am encouraged that Beane didn't give a definitive "Barkley is our backup.  Period."  Hope we try to upgrade to Dalton, Flacco, Newton, or Winston in that order.

Dalton is under contract for 17 million this year, no ones trading for a  1 year 17 million rental, Flacco is banged up and didn’t pass his physical which lead to his release , Newton is banged up as well and won’t settle for being a back up and Winston minus his INT problem has off field and character issues that Beane and McD won’t put up with. I’m sure we draft a QB in round 5 or 6

I ever thought this would happen given Beane’s comments.  It would be like Flutie/Johnson all over again.

What a ***** show that was lol. Although that’s when we should’ve traded for Bledsoe. We traded for him a few years too late. You put Bledsoe on that 98-99 team and we definitely go the Super Bowl and probably win 1 if not 2. Looking back on it now, the Flutie/Robo Sack combo did more damage than help. And completely divided our locker room, and I used to be a huge Flutie fan lol

I would say their running game was more up and down. There were games last year where they just could not get Zeke going at all and yet continued through sheer bloody mindedness to insist on it. The game against Minnesota where Dak led them down the field in the final minute to win the game and then they took the ball out of his hands in the redzone and gave it to Zeke was in contention for most ridiculous series of playcalling by any coach all season.

But on the stats v wins point - I agree. I just counter with the fact that Dak is 40-24 as a starter and has two division titles in 4 years. He has one fewer division title in 4 years than Tony Romo had in 11. If he had gone 8-8 four years in a row I think your point would hold more water.

Well we don’t know how he’s going to do in McCarthy’s 1980s offense. Although I’m expecting the running game to struggle more now that they lost Fredrick to retirement. Their o line on paper looks a little thin. Don’t know if Dak’s gonna put up the same stats like he did last year but all we can do is wait and see what unfolds

So I am not telling anyone Dak has more talent than Josh. Josh's talent has never really been in question. His ability to put it altogether has. But do I think Josh Allen's ceiling as an NFL Quarterback is higher than Dak Prescott's absolutely. I don't think Dak has had great coaching. I am no Mike McCarthy fan particularly but he will be a coaching upgrade in Dallas. He has had a good line, good running game and slightly above average weapons for the most part and that helps but he is a really, really smart decision maker and a terrific leader. The point on the comparison Dak to Josh is that Dak came into the league with (in my view at least) a higher floor than Josh, but a lower ceiling. He has also been in the league 4 years and Josh Allen 2. Josh can definitely get to those numbers. He could even do it this year. And if he does Bills fans will be desperate for us to pay Josh based on the same criteria they disparage other QBs with. They would be right to be desperate to pay Josh if he does that. The Bills should pay him in those circumstances. The same as Dallas should pay Prescott.

As for Tannehill..... I think that was lightening in a bottle. I am sceptical that he has suddenly broken out. That was probably just a career year.

I liked Tannehill and I think last year proved that he wasn’t the problem in Miami. Was he perfect No, but I think coaching and not giving him an o line or running game during his career in Miami hurt him quite a bit

Dak HAS won though. His win-loss record is excellent and in 4 years in the league as a 4th round pick he has won two division titles and has a playoff win. And if you think he was the reason Dallas didn't make the playoffs last year I advise you to go back and watch more Dallas games.

If Josh did this year what Dak did last year people would be clamouring to pay him. And rightly so.

Again stats are meaningless if your not winning, 8-8 and not making the playoffs is not winning. Stats don’t mean *****. And yes he was one of the reasons they didn’t make the playoffs. Their defense was trash but Dak ( minus the stats) was up and down as well.

It’s crazy to me that guys like Dak Prescott and Kirk Cousins put up these hall of fame type numbers year in and year out. Are they actually good and I’m just not watching the right games?

Your never gonna win a SB with Kirk cousins under center that’s just a fact.

If I was Cam, I would go to Pittsburgh.

Ben is hanging on by a thread at this point.

He should just retire and call it a career, he’s already got 2 rings and nothing left to prove. He’s been talking about retirement for how long now? Should’ve retired 2-3 years ago

Yeah i never once thought or heard of any interest from anyone between the Bills & Cam. It just doesn't make any sense with where both are at right now. Now maybe in the future if/when Cam is no longer a starter candidate possibly, but not now.

One team however that i've heard mentioned a bunch is the Pats.  However after they went after Hoyer, it seems they're content having him & Stidham battle it out for the starting job. Some team will take a flyer on Cam tho. I just don't expect much from him at this point in his career. But i'm glad the Bills aren't interested, even though i don't think they ever were.

Pats don’t have the money for Cam, and I don’t think The emperor and newton  would get along to well lol. This is the same guy that ran Kosar out of Cleveland because he didn’t like him

Who do you suggest replaces Dak since it seems so easy?

Well if I’m Dallas I’m gonna do my due diligence to try to trade up in the draft for a QB since they are rumored to anyways. And next year you have an even better QB class in next years draft. I’d say keep Prescott for the year on the tag, see how it plays out if once again he misses the playoffs then you have your answer on whether to pay him 45 mill year or not and if Prescott doesn’t let up and still thinks he’s worth 45 to 50 mill year and if you’re a position to draft high for a quarterback then you go get that quarterback in the draft presumably Lawrence tag Prescott and look for a trade partner for Dak which I’m sure you can find one and let someone else overpay for Dak while you can get your QB of the future in either this years or next years draft. Also you have Winston who also threw for 5,000 yards and could be just as effective in that offense as Dak is

The Cowboys need to pay Dak. And they need to do it soon.

No they don’t, I’m sorry to say but Dak is replaceable. He’s not worth what he wants especially when the offense he’s in is a power run first offense. I’m sorry stats don’t mean jack if your not winning football games which is what happened last year. He put up nice stats but failed to get his team to the playoffs, paying Dak the money he wants could set that franchise back a number of years and while he’s cheap, Jerry Jones knows this and isn’t giving into Dak’s contract demands

Hmm ... yeah that reminds me how R. Johnson and Doug Flutie  competed, pushed, and helped each other get better.

It actually divided the team in the locker room.

So no thanks on that upgrade.

It not quantifiable with stats it deals with players emotions.

Thats why Barkley will be the backup this season.

Forgot how much of an ####### Flutie was lol. I didn’t care at all about Rob Johnson but I believe him when he admitted what was going on behind the scenes in the locker room and how Flutie was a bully and would talk ***** about players behind their back. I think even Thurman, Andre and Bruce didn’t really care for him too much

Haha, this is a bad take.  Bad Joe Flacco last year had 6 td to 5 in and a 85 qb rating.  Barkley has 10 td to 21 int and a 66 rating for his career. Next to Nate Peterman, he might be statistically the worst qb in the nfl.  Almost any veteran qb is an upgrade. But he is a really, really nice guy.  Just doesn’t have a nfl arm.

This is a candidate for most ? take on this board ever!!!   Are you sure you are taking about Matt Barkley (super nice guy) and not another player?

Yes I’m talking about Matt Barkley. Glennon, Bortles and Flacco are worthless. If you sign these guys you have to teach them the whole offensive system from the ground up while Barkley already knows the system that’s already in place. None of the guys that are mentioned are a number 2 option lol. I can’t think of a QB that’s as bad as Bortles and Glennon and even Flacco. Gross list. If we really wanted a Frank Reich type

of back up then we should’ve went after Foles

that’s the idea of the smokescreen, to get him pushed down some. The poor interview leak probably came from the Chargers in the hopes that he would get to them.

This is gonna be a very interesting draft. My money still says he’s going to Miami due to them not being able to move up to get  Burrow and the chargers are left with Herbert or they take a QB in day 2

I think he has had legitimate excuses to this point. But those end now. It is kind of time to put up and shut up. Everything is in place for him to take another step this year and we will know a lot more about who Josh is after this season.

I agree that they end now due to him having weapons to throw to. And that’s if we’re even having football this season which unfortunately I’m having my doubts

Which is why he is available.

    Based on what?

Have you ever seen either of those QBs you listed actually play? Glennon is beyond ***** and his stints in Tampa, Chicago, Arizona and Oakland prove that.

Blake Bortles is a poor mans Trent Dilfer

and idk even know where to begin with Siemian. Watch tape of him in Denver and ask yourself is that who you want as a back up.

none of these guys are competition for Barkley. Barkley  would most likely kick their all their asses in competition and I would put money on that

I liked Whaley, and the Watkins trade notwithstanding, he brought some good talent to the roster.  The defense under Schwartz was excellent.  Whaley's downfall was due to 2 things:  1)  his inability to find a franchise QB, a sure GM killer; and 2) getting stuck with Rex and not having the clout (or desire) to stop that hiring from happening.  Despite liking Whaley, I am glad that team moved on and think that the current regime is much better.

Yeah but Whaley wanted Hue Jackson lol. And Whaley was the one who immediately said no to bringing back Reich
