  1. Some analysts have the OTs from VT and Northwestern higher than Sewell. The other thing that people forget is that they just spent a 1st last year on a LT. He didn't light the world on fire, injuries and extremely raw, but resources have already been used. Mind you three of Miami's starting OL were rookies last year.
  2. Bingo! Flores' defense is moreso centered around pressure. If he had to choose between a guy that's guaranteed to get 10+ sacks or DE/LB that causes consistent pressure, he's choosing the latter. Much easier to find a guy like that as opposed to a former Pro-Bowl LB; Lawson, Judon, Clowney, etc are better than Shaq. A weakness in the defense, aside from lack of a consistent pass rush, was defending the run. Bringing in McKinney now allows Flores to utilize our coverage backer, Jerome Baker, more effectively. Like most teams, Miami's success will depend on if they can build a run game and get weapons for Tua.
  3. Someone who makes sense. Miami's interior was decent, the inexperience at the tackle positions was the issue. Hopefully Miami targets someone like Joe Lombardi or Mike LeFleur. I unfortunately think they go the in-house route and TE coach George Godsey will take over.
  4. No, this was after he was fired the day before but then was later asked to resign. The playbook was different and there are facts to back it up. Chan only called an aggressively when Fitz was in earlier in the season or if Miami was down big. Otherwise it's screen, screen, short pass for Tua, especially if the game was close. Chan even admits to calling differently lol. This is why people who don't watch the games should save their opinions. Go and look at the Cardinals and Chiefs games (Tua's best performances), notice how Miami rarely if ever went back to style of playcalling--spread four/five wide. Now, they don't have the best weapons so maybe that wasn't sustainable but to totally abandon what was working then only to go back to it when the team is down... From the horse's mouth "The situation of the game has a lot to do with it. If you end up getting behind and needing to get down the field and to score points quickly, that has a lot to do with it. We’ve been a team that has tried to be 9, 10, 11, 12 play drives, run the football, play-action pass, control the time on the clock. That’s the situation that we found with Tua in the ballgame. Plus you’re missing some receivers from time to time and that has something to do with it. A lot of that goes into decision-making about how the game is being called and what kind of plays we run." In other words, if the game is within reach we're going to try to control the clock with Tua. 1. Short pass in which the receiver fell down 2. Short pass over the middle thrown behind the receiver 3. Miscommunication but still a bad throw Totally makes sense why he checked down.
  5. Huh? Miami was down 30-10 at the end of the 3rd. Tua lead the offense to 17 points, passing and rushing TD, in the fourth quarter.
  6. Flores for sure prefers Tua's passiveness instead of Fitz. I don't think he's a game manager, he's lead multiple game-winning drives already, but I do understand why you feel that way. His play has been on-off. That's the next step. As much as I'd like to blame the supporting cast, which is a factor, when will he elevate the team when things aren't looking the greatest? I believe that's why Flores keeps starting him; he's hoping that spark eventually comes on consistently. From his play as a Dolphin, his arm strength hasn't been an issue. Tua has made those exact throws that Chris stated in his article. Stats only tell a percentage of the story, actually viewing the games fills in the rest. If any other QB threw for 90 yards in a game would you assume they struggled or their arm strength wasn't strong enough to make the throws? Time will tell.
  7. Tua and Herbert are different prospects. I wouldn't expect the prototypical player to have the same weaknesses as a short left-handed QB. Tua almost knocked out the Cheifs as well. It didn't happen for either. I don't think height is an issue either. His lack of mobility is. The fact that he isn't mobile to go along with a young and inexperienced OL has been hard to watch at times. I read the article and it didn't tell me anything that I didn't already know. If anything it just reiterates what we already know, prototypical QBs translates better in the NFL.
  8. Can't disagree with any of that. Our offense is very opportunistic. I'd rather not face you guys and instead take on the Titans if we can make it to the playoffs.
  9. I wouldn't take Herbert if we had a redo. Tua has played half of the games that Herbert has. If he had these problems for 15 games I'd definitely take Herbert, but even then these guys aren't finished products. His strength coming out was processing the field but even you just admitted that the athletes in the NFL are playing at a different speed. So do we write him off because he's slowly adjusting to it? And analysts mostly said that while his arm isn't the strongest, he has enough to make throws in the league. I dont recall one professional take insisting that he has a "noodle" arm. No growth spurt coming huh? Weren't your fans ready to get rid of Allen after his rookie season? We can agree to disagree.
  10. My bad. Maybe it's because I'm in enemy territory lol. I've heard this on Twitter from Bills fans too as if majority of Miami's wins have been because of luck. Turnovers aren't sustainable, but unless they're absolutely vital in determining the outcome of a game I wouldn't use that as to why Miami has been successful. They definitely have to improve and I think (hope) they will especially with all they have to work with next offseason.
  11. Besides the Raiders and I guess the Rams game, what luck have the Dolphins had?
  12. Thanks for the analysis. If you wanted to argue trust in his arm, I'd agree with you. Tua does a lot of second-guessing because I'd assume he's not used to the speed of the NFL yet. I don't see a limited arm though, just slow processing. That's the only flaw I'm seeing. You can tell his mental clock is still in college when he's sitting in the pocket for too long. If he learns to speed that up, he'll be fine.
  13. His arm was never an issue at Bama nor has it been in Miami. We rarely attempt deep passes as most of the wideouts are possesion receivers...
  14. The offense should operate better with Fitz, he has four years experience with the OC. If you don't watch the Dolphins games I don't see how you could come to your conclusion. Tua has maybe missed two deep passes since he started, where is this weak arm rhetoric coming from?
  15. Thank you. You guys have every right to be confident, but some of y'all are speaking as if we're the Jets or Jaguars. We've had some bad games but have also hung with you guys earlier in the year and were a few missed penalties away from beating the defending SB champions.
  16. Where are you getting Pennington-esque arm from? Your answer will tell how you've watched. .
  17. Interesting. Hold off on the 9-3 prediction though lol. As you said, more needs to be seen and questions need to be answered. Can this inept run game be consistent enough to not put Tua in 3rd and 7+? The run D is already one of the worst but will it get out of hand? Can Tua excel against a sound defense?
  18. I'm a fan and I wouldn't personally wouldn't call the team "elite" but there is a reason why folks continue to make comparisons to past winning teams. The defense and special teams are leading the team while the rookie/young QB is not asked to do much--see 2004 Steelers with Roethlisberger (didn't attempt over 30 passes in any game yet the team went 13-0), '01 Pats with Brady , 2012 Seahawks with Russ (Legion of Boom), etc. The only major difference is those squads had a good RB.
  19. You also have to take into account that they're not letting Tua really rip it, #2 WR is on IR (best receiver after DeVante Parker is 5'7), and we're missing our top two backs to injury. Besides Arizona, there hasn't been many tight games since the defense settled in. Flores doesn't have a killer instinct yet... he gets very conservative once there's a comfortable lead; I'm talking three straight runs then punt on multiple drives. I'm interested to see how they perform when they run into a team that can threaten the secondary and plays mistake-free like KC. It's been a fun 5 weeks ☺️
  20. We have two good WRs--DeVante Parker and Preston Williams, who was the leading rookie WR in receiving yards before he went down with injury. Williams was actually better than DeVante. Albert Wilson and Jakeem Grant are capable #3/4 WRs so it's not a big need, but we could see them add a guy to eventually replace Wilson who has a big cap hit. Jordan Howard is a decent #2 RB at best so we need to upgrade there. What we need is another interior OL and RT.
  21. Huh? I'm not saying any QB in this draft is similar but Mahomes sat for a year then threw 50 TD's in his second season. The good rookie QB's usually succeed within two years--see Lamar, Deshaun, Dak, Goff, Wentz, etc
  22. You're assuming Flores wants an accomplished pass rusher and that's why you think the way you do. He wants guys that get pressure and can defend against the run, he could care less about sacks. Remember that he's a Belichick disciple and his main goal is to disrupt the QB and cause confusion for the OL. The Pats annually have a top 5 defense without a player eclipsing ten sacks for example. I'm impressed by their ability to do what's asked. You asked were they supposed to impress you and I answered your question. But ok.
  23. I don't think they're done with the OL, a Trent Williams trade could still happen although it seems like they're enamored with younger players. I think they're set with Baker and McMillan at LB unless they add a depth guy.
  24. Flores values versatility. Van Noy doesn't just serve as a pass-rusher, Ogbah is more of a run-stuffer than a pass rusher, Byron can play CB/S, and I'm sure you all know what Lawson can do. I'll take a guess and say that the moves the made were to improve their team instead of impressing you.; I may be wrong though. Flowers is a natural G and is young. Jones rarely makes interceptions because the QB avoids him.... I understand you're a Bills fan and may not have the best knowledge on the Dolphins, but Miami hasn't spent big money on a free agent since 2015. I'd say they're picking scheme fits instead of big-names and questionable pairings, deep-threat Mike Wallace to go with Tannehill's noodle arm for example, like the old regime. They just can't sit on nearly $100 million in cap. Getting these players in free agency allows Miami to build through the draft--these contracts are front-loaded and Miami picks six times on Day 1 and 2 of the draft (they also have two 1st and 2nd next year as well). Also take into account that Miami has to reset a roster that was majorly practice squad and XFL players last year.
  25. The Dolphins are the least penalized team in the NFL, Top 5 in missed tackles percentage o defense (sounds bad but it's in the good way) , and the staff is getting the most of fringe players and underused talent (Gesicki & Devante Parker on offense and Eric Rowe & Taco Charlton on defense specifically). Flores and the staff installed a system consisting of mostly practice squad players and guys off the street and the team looks better every week; imagine what they do when there is a QB, run game, and adequate talent on defense.
