  1. Aha...so you & Mrs. Chef live in 'SOMA' - I'm jealous, as you're a spit from Pacific Bell Pa....,er, Southwestern Bell Par...er, uh AT&T Park . Beautiful building, that Rincon Ctr. A friend of mine had a temporary exec apt. there while on a 3-month consulting gig for BofA. And, of course, you & Mrs. Chef are right at the start line for this Spring's annual Bay-to-Breakers - supposedly the world's largest organized foot race - I ran it once, and will NEVER understand how a guy can run 12 miles w/out a strap, or a how a gal can w/out a bra... Bay To Breakers (definitely NSFW) All things must pass... Myself, I established Senatorial offices at 495 Market, then 444 Market. Do me a favor when you have a spare sec - stop at 'Dave's'- (on 3rd Street btwn 2nd & Mission) and tell Dave Supple that 'The Senator' says, "Hello - and GO RED SOX!!!!!" (Dave is originally from Methuen, MA and is a huge baseball and Red Sox fan - lie to him & say you know me - you'll get free drinks!)
  2. I agree with EA completely - I certainly wouldn't waste a draft pick on him. This guy has about a 3.5 chance in 100 to make it in the NFL.
  3. Was someone asking for the Bills to draft him?
  4. In Leach's case, every year - and, apparently, sometimes 2-at a-time!!!!! Texas Tech's Sheffield throws for 490 yards, 7 TDs in rout of KSU (At some point, some here-to-fore idiot - hopefuly Ralph- turns into an incredibly prescient genius, 'breaks the code', and hires this guys who sprinkles 'magic dust' over every QB he meets ) I mean, seriously, at what point - after 9 or 10 years of having the NCAA's top QB and #1 offense - do the naysayers stop????
  5. Actually, I think this is the thread that proclaims the Brinkworths as 'prominent WNY developers', or moguls, tycoons, or some other sh_t like that The Brinkworths are non-entities - crooks and miscreants, desperately clutching at vestiges of an era-gone-by. Myself, I think Eddie Brady's a bigger WNY mogul than the Brinkworths. So tomorrow, I'm gonna ask Eddie if he's buyin' Da Billsss!!!!
  6. I live in Buffalo (again)... "STANDING UP FOR YOUR RIGHT TO GET FALLING DOWN DRUNK SINCE 1996" GO BILLSSS!!!! REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!!
  7. Given the fact that, in a period of just 24 months, Kelly Johnson's Lockheed 'Skunk-Works' designed, prototyped, and built that thing, using just protractors and slide-rulers - before liquid-nitrogen-cooled supercomputers, CAD/CAM software, PC's, or even the most primitive HP engineering calculators, etc. ever existed - I consider it one of the greatest engineering marvels of all time... A defensive feature of the aircraft was its high speed and operating altitude, whereby, if a surface-to-air missile launch were detected, standard evasive action was simply to accelerate. "Incoming at 1500 mph...Roger that...Evade at Mach 3...." - and this was 1962, when (you kids won't understand) most folks didn't have colour TV
  8. You're a luck guy - very few folks get that ride. I'm not very fond of vomiting, but would love to go up for a thrill-ride with one of those aces (with a barf-bag, of course ). I don't know any Blue Angels or Thunderbird pilots personally, but have known a lot of Navy pilots over the years. It's kinda ridiculous to argue who's better when they're flying in precision formation 18 inches from their wing-man at 700 mph - they're all great Anyway, all those guys can pound some vodka - and I can attest to that
  9. My good man - Belichick's* Cheatriettes*, the (legitimate) SuperBowl Champion Steelers, Peyton Manning and Bill Polian's Colts, et al, have been using the "Spread Offense" - or some variation thereof - for at least 3 seasons now... In the National Football League no team uses the spread offense only, but most all of the teams deploy the spread at some time in their offensive drives to mix up their plays and confuse the defense they are trying to beat. link Granted, the 'spread-option' is more prevalent than Leach's "Air-Raid" (myself, I like the air-raid - Leach's 'air-raid' was more a very particular adjustment to his Big 12 opposition than a 'Mike Leach Gospel' on how to run an offense), but there's no question that 'The Spread' is already here in the NFL, and here to stay... Florida coach Urban Meyer has been asked for advice from at least four N.F.L. teams, including the New England Patriots. "I think it would have worked years ago," Meyer said. "No one has had enough -- I don't want to say courage -- no one has wanted to step across that line. Everyone runs the same offense in the N.F.L. A lot of those coaches are retreads. They get fired in Minnesota, they go to St. Louis. They get fired in St. Louis and go to San Diego. I guess what gets lost in the shuffle is your objective is to go win the game. If it's going to help you win the game, then you should run the spread." The Spread: Spreading to the N.F.L.?
  10. Yes, it s' time for a new era, New Era, but I must - respectfully - disagree. Spurrier approached the NFL with unprecedented arrogance, eschewing hard work for a round of golf while openly mocking Joe Gibbs and his long hours. (Gibbs coached the Redskins for 12 seasons and led them to eight playoff appearances, four NFC Championship titles, and three Super Bowl titles, while Spurrier is peceived as- by you, myself, and most others - an abject failure as an NFL head coach.) (BTW - Final Score - Taco Tach - 66, Kansas State - 14; Sheffield 33/41 (80%), 490 Yards, 7 TDs, 1 INT, Rating - 232.34 Yeah, why even look at the guy ( Sheffield) ? After all, he plays in that 'gimmicky' system for...
  11. Did you just type "your an ass"??? (Yes, I believe you did - so much for the merits of public education ) Why the f__k would I have to look at a Google map? I was based in CA for 7 years, and even after returning back East, still flew out there every month. Crawled/drove all over LA & SoCal, from beautiful Orange County, to Burbank, to Calabasas, to Simi Valley, to that freaking cesspool called City of Industry, and am still wondering... Is there an actual 'downtown' LA? If so, please name all the folks you know that live there - all 2 of 'em. That's the point, my friend - it doesn't matter where this fictional place you call 'downtown' LA exists or doesn't - the point is how far Industry is from where real people actually reside, and how long it takes people with money and interest to get to HellHole, CA from Calabasas, Malibu, El Segundo, Marina Del Rey, Pacific Palisades, Hermosa Beach, Manhattan Beach, Long Beach, Seal Beach, Irvine, Newport, Dana Point, etc., etc., etc. It's the 2nd largest Metropolitan area - and, more importantly, the 2nd largest TV market - in the US, yet they've failed to support TWO NFL teams, despite the fact the Rams were perennial contenders. (Why the HELL am I still talking to this idiot???? Congrats, Nostradamus - you got me!!!! )
  12. No. My point was, quite simply, that NFL scouts & GMs are sometimes woefully stupid when it comes to judging QB talent. Noticed you left one guy I cited - Boston College QB/Heisman-winner Doug Flutie - out of your 'small college' argument. Maybe because BC's a small program (???), or there was no 'wealth of information' about him (???) and his Heisman season (???) - including his last-second nat'l TV heroics over Bernie Kosar and 'The U' and subsequent 45-28 blowout of Houston in the Cotton Bowl???? Please explain that tiny oversight - otherwise, thanks for playing, and next time, please bring something better than that.
  13. His last as a Bill, maybe? I'm still sayin' he'll come down with a 'mysterious' injury. After seeing my post earlier this week, they probably just figured they'd get away with saying it's a game-time thing - maybe H1N1 - but now they know we're on to the ruse, and I'm thinking they'll just have him go down on the 1st or 2nd series. Kinda like... Anyway... GO FITZ, and GO BILLSSS!!!! REVERSE THE CURSE!!!!!
  14. I am by no means a 'know-it-all', but I challenge you to drive from, say, El Segundo to Industry in less than 90 minutes at 3:00 on a weekday afternoon without driving over everything in your path - and, if there's ever an NFL stadium out in that God-forsaken sh_t-hole, in less than 3 hours on a Sunday game day!!! BTW, what's a 'pinto'? (And, btw, I noticed nothing in you're response about the lack of interest in games being played at the Coliseum, which I'm guessing is - according to your watch - mere seconds away! )
  15. It's true - next time you're stuck th...er...uh, out there....
  16. Oh - you mean like Warren Moon, Doug Flutie, Kurt Warner, Jake Delhomme, etc. Thanks for that wee tiny bit o' wisdom...period.
  17. As has been posted ad nauseum, 'ski, LA already 'sh-t the bed' on two NFL franchises. Plus, they still have two pro teams - UCLA & USC, so they really couldn't care less about NFL football out there. But there are some really, really good Chinese restaurants in Industry, CA - so they got that goin' for them, which is nice.
  18. Troll, please go away. Cleary, you do NOT live there, as City of Industry is about 50 miles from LA - not 'minutes'. Takes me (and most others) about an hour and a half during NON-rush-hour, so if you can make that in "minutes", either you're way too young too know what driving is, or you live aboard the Starship Enterprise. Otherwise, as I'm sure is the case, you're just full of sh_t. BTW - I've been to two Bills games there, proudly sporting Blue & Red; rough part of the LA area - but I never feared for getting mugged or anything else, and actually appreciated all the burnt-down houses, as they made for very cheap parking. I guess that, if you've never lived in LA, you really don't know what it's like there.
  19. Thanks - I was not aware, and stand corrected; then that would be the claim to 'WNY prominence' to which 'soothsayer' Nostrasamus cited - the Brinkworthlesses are owners of the suckiest bars in Buffalo! BTW - Eddie Brady (God love 'im) - also owns a bar, and I consider Eddie a much more 'prominent' Buffalonian than any of the Brinkworthlesses. Tomorrow, I'll ask Eddie what he knows about all this.
  20. How the heck does Leach do it? Kid gets thrown into the deep end last week when Taylor Potts goes down with a concussion, wins the game 48-28, and today - at HALF-TIME - against Kansas State, Steven Scheffield is 22 of 29 for 370 yards, 5 TDs, 0 INTs, 0 Sacks. And they guy will probably go undrafted in 2011, because he plays in Leach's 'gimmicky' system, and he's not a NFL-type QB - like, say Trent Edwards! The Bills should start scouting the guy, and try like hell to hire... Mike Leach
  21. They haven't been prominent since the late Kevin Brinkworth, his wife, and brothers were indicted on 29 counts of conspiracy, tax fraud, and mail fraud in 1991. One of the kids owns 'Brinks' on Chippewa - BFD.
  22. You mean these... Warthog or these... Warthog ???? (You're right - they are beautiful - just look at the odnance on that thing!) One of the most beautiful planes I've ever seen is the... SR-71 Blackbird A friend of mine who's been with McDonnell Douglas/Boeing for 20 years tells me that the skin on the SR-71 gets so hot during flight (Mach 3) that the aircraft actually expands about 2 feet! (No penis-jokes, please ) Link - Spy Plane was Cold War Predecessor to Modern Stealth Fighters & Bombers If you're near NYC, or visit there, you can see one on the deck of the USS Intrepid... link BTW, I've been watching that Blue Angels clip every time I sit down at my PC - it's just so freaking cool. Imagine just sitting there on your sailboat, relaxing with a cold one, when that thing comes screaming out from under (???) the GG Bridge!
  23. And the fact that you didn't is further proof that you have no idea who the 'players' are here in WNY. Keep trolling - eventually someone will bite. Good luck.
