Interesting that the take on here is much different than what it is on Twitter. On Twitter, everyone is rejoicing and for some reason thinking this was a great press conference and Diggs diffused everything.
I don't have the same take on this that those on Twitter do. Towards the end, I think Stef is saying that he is unhappy, but it doesn't matter because there's nothing that can be done about it (because of untradable contract). He's saying he's unhappy but remaining professional.

I have no effing idea.
NYJ 17
BUF 23
With NYJ driving to score a TD and win at the end.

A few may recall me writing this in 2020, at which point I was universally condemned, but now most fans would agree!
McDermott is a solid playoff coach, but not a championship coach, I fear... So Bills fans are like, "We're 8-3! Enjoy it!" But I see a frustrating period of good-but-not-good-enough on the horizon for the foreseeable future.
And that's depressing. I am absolutely not of the "Hey, it's Buffalo; at least we're winning" type of mentality. It's championships or nothing. That is the life goal. And with McDermott signing a long-term contract, I almost feel as hopeless as I would if we sucked. If we sucked, at least there would be hope of striking coaching gold on an imminent hire. In this case, though, I feel like we'll just be a solid playoff team for the next many years, but not elite enough to win it all.
So, yeah, LAMP! Suck it 🙂

Why does the meeting have to take place immediately after the game?
I don't know, but apparently, per Carucci, it makes McDermott late for his postgame press conference all the time.

Remember when Schopp and the Bulldog had McDermott on the air once a week during Allen's rookie year, and Schopp straight up asked him why Peterman was still on the team? McD got all pissy and then Schopp was off the air for like 20 minutes.
McD never went on the afternoon show again, as far as I know.Yep, and now he only appears with Bills team employee Sal Capaccio

This to the max ^
People need to realize WGR is the flagship station and your never going to get strong sweeping takes from most of the people in Sal or Brown or Taskers shoes. It is state radio and the message is controlled in a certain way. If I am not mistaken Brown was even suspended for a week or two for making a relatively light slight about the team last year
Slightly incorrect -- he was suspended for divulging lineup information from practice.
Brown, Tasker, and Sal are Bills employees, so they are state radio for sure, but otherwise WGR hosts are not Bills employees and do criticize the team openly.

Listening to radio people who are employed by the bills is like listening to CNN or Fox and expecting objective unbiased opinions.
I think you mean MSNBC or Fox. CNN actually grades out as the most fair network

You wonder if McDermott took him out to the woodshed.... or if this move was forced/pressured by ownership
Vic Carucci on SiriusXM immediately after the firing said that Pegula meets with McDermott after the games before McDermott talks to the media. Vic said that McDermott is feeling the heat.

He did. Just differently. Jordan Palmer talks about it here:
He talks around it. Every time it was brought up this year, everyone talked around it. They didn't actually work together like they have in the past.

that's a good point.
joe brady has aspirations of being the best oc alive (they all do) and he's young and has had success. being the guy to get allen back to form or beyond is how you make yourself known.
gase and hacket have made tens of millions off of very good qbs looking good under their coaching. brady might just mess around and get the bills HC job!
I was thoroughly reading through the thread to see if anyone suggested this, because I was going to. If the rumors around discontent with McDermott are true, and if Brady can show that he specifically has the answers to unlock Allen and this offense, it would be a wise long term move for Pegula to lock in the offensive mind at HC; otherwise, we'll get 1-2 years max with Brady and then have to start over again.

Sorry for so many posters here... McD and his best ever Bills winning % will not be gone after one poor season. That would be such a drought era move. That will only happen if he loses his team in the locker room, which contrary to unfounded assumptions, there is no evidence of at this juncture.
A "playoffs or bust" demand would mean we need to go 5-2/ 6-1 against the remaining schedule which includes PHI, DAL, KC, MIA, LAC. Not realistic at all to expect considering the team as is. Is it possible? Sure.
I will keep banging my head against this wall until someone notices:

No.

Tasker is an embarrassment. Yesterday he said the Diggs offseason stuff was no issue at all and reprimanded a fan for being concerned about it. If it was no issue at all, McDermott wouldn't have been "very concerned" and sent Diggs home. I mean, come on. There's being a homer and then there's completely drowning in the Kool-Aid and Tasker is definitely the latter.

Well, wait and see how it turns out Monday. Bottom line is I feel better about the Bills standing now because AFC North / AFC South will beat each other.
You need them to beat each other by the Ravens running away with it and the Bengals taking a Wild Card. The Browns or Steelers winning is ALWAYS bad.

It will quickly change, when we beat Broncos on Monday. 60% and higher...
Very incorrect. It's only 42% if we beat the Broncos. And only 49% if we beat the Broncos AND the Jets.
The Bills are at the point where they're going to have to beat the Cowboys and Chargers AND pull a major upset (one of @PHI, @KC, or @MIA) to make the playoffs.

The 1:00 hour was remarkably devastating for the Bills. It feels like they lost without playing.
The Buffalo Bills have a 37% chance of making the playoffs after wins by the Texans, Browns, and Steelers.

I’ve always been a huge McDermott fan… but I’m losing faith he can get us to the SB.
He won't.

Half the league would love to have him.
This 👏 is not 👏 relevant 👏 unless your standard is just to not suck

I remember back in earlier years, McDermott would talk about trusting the process and that it takes time to build a program. I wish someone would ask him about that now.

I think the Bills would be at exactly the same place they are today if they had Nyheim Hines.

Josh Allen is the #1 QB in the NFL according to advanced metrics and QBR. I am done with this conversation. He isn't the problem.

I think 10 wins gets a wild card, but not the Bills at 10 wins most likely due to our very bad conference record and some possible key tiebreakers. I think, unless the Bills somehow get to 11+ wins, a wild card is out and our only path is the division. For that to happen we need to very likely have 9 wins heading into week 18 and Miami can have 10 or fewer and we can get the division with a win (assuming the Jets lose a couple more).
It is extremely unlikely that 10 wins will miss the playoffs due to tiebreaker. The chances of FOUR teams other than division winners having 10 wins are very remote. People spend way too much time focusing on tiebreakers instead of overall record.
Not since 2017 have four Wild Card contenders been tied at the end of the season. And that was with 9 wins (albeit in a 16-game schedule).
The Bills need 10 wins for a ~95% chance of the playoffs.

Is this true on Von? When did we restructure to make it essentially a four year deal? And why?
I always thought it was three. Being stuck with him for two more years after this one would be brutal.
It's true if you consider $15M a dead cap hit that you can't afford to take. That will be the cost after next year.

I think it's a blend of McDermott and Dorsey.
Anyone saying Allen just needs to back off because no QB is perfect and Allen is grading out as the #1 QB in the NFL analytically and is #1 in QBR as well.
