Why he isn’t/don’t get the hype they gave to Chase Young when he was drafted is mind boggling

I think a lot of that has to do with him sitting a year and people not getting to see him coming into the draft.

Young had a great year, came out, the hype train was rolling and he played really well his rookie year.  I feel like his raw numbers were a little less than expected, but he still would have been in the conversation for DROY without the hype.  With the hype around him it was all but over.

Groot has to not only overcome the fact he was a late first round pick, but the fact he’s in a deep rotation and not getting a ton of snaps.  If he keeps showing up, he’ll have double digit sacks, if he manages a couple more of those “wow” plays like that pick, he’ll start getting media attention.  I’ll tell you this, Offensive Coordinators know who he is already.  He’s a force to reckon with out there.

  2. Groot is real deal, man he’s good.  He does such a good job shedding blocks and getting to runners on the edge, is getting to the QB pretty well and his length is an obvious problem as illustrated by the pick last night.  He was an absolute steal.

Yes Cleveland could have taken him, would the Jets' have then taken Mayfield, maybe.  Denver was ready to trade with us till Bradley Chubb fell into their lap, so highly unlikely they'd have taken Allen as they weren't looking for a QB.  Could the Bills instead have ended up with Darnold, maybe either him or Mayfield.  Either choice wouldn't have been terrible.

McD stated he didn't want to take a QB in 2017 as he hadn't had enough time to study them.  If he had known Maholmes were to end up the way he did, maybe he'd have changed his mind, but at the time he had alot of questions, maybe almost as many as Allen had going into the draft.

Most of the time backing into the draft means you lose your last game, but still get in.   That wasn't the case here.  The Bills game ended about 20 minutes prior to the end of the Bengals game.  So if the ending times were reversed, would that mean they didn't back in?  Every year, the last week of the season, things change, teams get in and others get out.  I guess last year Cleveland and think it was Indy both backed in as if Miami had beaten the Bills they'd be in and one of those two out.  Don't recall anyone talking about Cleveland backing in.

In fact the only way any team ever makes the playoffs is by another team losing either this week or last week, or maybe 2 weeks prior.  But if according to you a team losing means that you backed in, then every team in the league backs in every year.

Regardless winning 9 games with that talent in 2017 was still impressive whether they made the playoff or not.

I’m sorry, but if you aren’t winning the division, you are not winning your way into the playoffs, you are coming in through the back door, BUT let’s assume we don’t take that view point.  If you can’t win more games than the other teams competing for a wildcard and have to rely on a tie breaker, you are in fact backing in, regardless of who you are.  You are in on a technicality, not because you went out and won your way in.

Today, the Bills are one of the best teams in the league and should earn their way to the playoffs with very little problem.   The Chiefs are going to have to battle back and hope to steal a wild card (as it stands now), if they get in on a tie breaker, I will call that just what it is, backing in, because you weren’t good enough to get the job done.

  4. I don’t think he will end up with the MVP because Brady is on fire and is might just take down the TD record with that team, at 44 years old.  The story will make the NFL happy.

Also it’s pretty likely Josh is going to miss the equivalent of at least 2 games due to being replaced in the 4th quarter.  It’s the right play, but it doesn’t help the stat padding.  MT should have 500 yards passing this year, all of which are missing from Josh’s tally.

Also, man the analysis are all over Herbert too, so that’s another hurdle.

  5. The only difference in Knox this year is he’s catching the ball.  Now that’s the only thing he had trouble with before, so that’s pretty damn big.  He’s a great athlete. A really good blocker.  Now he’s actually making teams worry about him when he’s being thrown to.  I’m so happy he finally got it together.  He’s good, hope he takes the next step to greatness.

Part of the genius was picking Allen and developing him.  You make it sound like he fell into their laps by mistake.  McD's approach brings so much to the table.  As a Bills fan who follows this team its weird you dont see any of this.  What an awful take.

You act as if all the moves to get Allen were the Head Coach, which is a joke.   He did fall into their laps, there was a lot of chatter that Cleveland was going to take Allen first overall, how different would things have been? Denver could easily have taken him at 5, the Browns dictated that entire draft, not the Bills.  It was a great job by Beane going up and getting the guy they wanted, but he could have just as easily not ended up in Buffalo.

Think back to 04 draft, the Bills couldn’t pull off the trade to get up for Big Ben and wound up the JP, how much better would the team have been fit years in end, had that gone differently?  How much better would the coaches have done with a real QB?

If anything, you could argue McD blew the draft before, not taking Maholmes, but you don’t like that take because it doesn’t fit your narrative.  Beane had to make up for it and go get the player they needed.

  7. I would argue that McD would not be shown in a great light we’re it not for Allen emerging.  Funny how a top 5 QB can make people look like a genius.  He came in and did what was expected, got the D on track and they won enough to back into the playoffs, the next year wasn’t so pretty, then JA came on and here we are.  If Allen had turned out to be the wrong Josh, I don’t think you are singing his praises right now.  His overly conservative approach has been taken away by having Josh basically blow it up.  The D has not been great for the majority of the time he’s been here, but has definitely flashed at times.  Overall, the success of a team these days is tied to scoring points, which is pretty much tied to QB play.  A bad coach can make it harder than it has to be, he is not a bad coach.  A good coach can look really good with a QB and I think that’s where you find him.  Good luck to the other new coaches, their future is tied to the QB they have to work with.

  8. Just like any other team, they lost a top 5 QB, they aren’t going to be as good without him.  The failure to build a reasonable offense is going to be glaring now.

This will probably be the end of Wilson in Seattle as it will prove how bad they are without him and he wants to win.  Next year he joins the Steelers and torments the league for years to come.

  9. A lot of people still bitter from him leaving, if you can get him here it INSTANTLY makes the team FAR Better.  This would be the move that could put the Bills as the clear SB favorite and people are still worried about the past, nope, sorry, just dumb.

If he’s ring chasing and wants to start, Buffalo, KC, Tompa, Arizona are all destinations at the top of the list.  Carolina? C’mon, you betting on Darnold to win you a SB? Nah.  Baltimore? No thanks. Cleveland? Maybe and they have money.  Packers?  Do you believe in them? I don’t honestly.  Of the Legit contenders the Bills have the most cap room.   He would have to go second tier teams to find more cap room.

Not only is there a shot, the Bills had better be gearing up to cut somebody stat.

Josh is a pure joy to watch at QB. I don't think we ever had a QB this good. Sorry Jimbo. We love you but Josh "so freaking good" Allen is tops.

It’s going to take a little more body of work to get everyone on board, but he’s better than Kelly was in so many facets it’s unreal. Experienced Jimbo was a better field general, but give Allen the same experience and I don’t think we will even be saying that.

i just don't think buffalo has played anyone hardcore enough to be considered the best team at this time.  that's not a knock as you can only play the teams on your schedule, but these next two games are big.  that being said, even dropping these games wouldn't be the absolute end of the world.  i assume it would definitely mean losing the one seed, but you never know.

I’m gonna be PISSED if the lose to Tennessee, I’m going to the game and don’t want an 8 hour disappointed drive home haha.

  12. I say we throw him in as a TE in goal line situations, let him block for a while, then throw in the surprise pass to him.   Make teams start thinking more, always good to have a LB have to pause before going on a play.

Feliciano and Ford both need to be replaced; unfortunately, Beane drafted two tackles (and used a 2 on an inactive DE) instead.

I don’t know if I’ll ever understand the Boogie pick.  The OL needed the pick, but apparently they fell in love.

The "they let one slip away already" was a 7th round pick which has been inactive for Eagles.

Ok… so?  Ford still is getting slapped around.

I know this is a thread about Zack, but since I already brought up Ford, there's this one, too...

Yeah.. he’s too slow and not mauling anybody.

Wasn't a great look for Cody Ford on that play, but...TD anyways!

Ford got beat like a drum yesterday, he was awful.  I hope the kids they drafted this year step up and see the field, although they let one slip away already.  Ford needs to be shown the door, sad part is, he’s apparently the best option right now.

  15. Moss misses a lot of opportunities to get more yards, he’s very frustrating to watch, I think the reason he got benched early this year, is his lack of vision.  Motor is better in regards of seeing the openings and going for them.   The thing we need is a hybrid of the 2 of them, give me Motor’s moves and vision, and Moss’ size and hard nose running.
