I think playing with Brady has blinded people to ehat Edleman is.  He may be a better athlete than Beasley but for God's sake he doesnt burn you.   His yards per reception is exactly .6 of a yard better than Beasley over their career.    When you talk about touchdowns per season Beasley has Edleman.  The difference is really targets.  Edleman is targeted a ton and Beasley spent most of his early career as a 4th wideout.  Not saying Beasley is better at all.  But lets live in reality a bit when it comes to what Edleman is.

I think my statement was firmly based in reality. Edleman gets YAC because hes an athlete, Beasley catches the ball and falls down 50% of the time.  Edleman can take it to the house on you, Beasley is not that threat.  Is Edleman better bc of Brady? OF COURSE, but hes also better because hes flat out better.

  2. Edleman and Beasley fill a similar role, but are not similar athletes.  Edleman is a superb athlete that happened to be a QB before and then played DB/WR to make it in the league, hes smart as hell and even more quick and explosive.  Beasley is not fast nor particularly quick, he works like hell and has a pretty good eye for finding soft spots, offers a lot of nothing after the catch outside of a dive forward. I see why the Cowboys couldn't have him as their best WR.  He's more of a safety blanket than a game changer.. Edleman can BURN you.

Ok, the younger guys have something else on the old guys.  Sometime during the spring we had a thread about expectations in which I said the Bills offense would be middle of the pack, but be very effective in the RedZone and average around 23 pts a game.  Josh is an unusual combination of power, size and athleticism that he is becoming the ultimate RedZone weapon.  A defensive front 7 can get extremely fatigued converting from pass rush mode to chase Josh mode multiple times a game or on a particular drive.  Picture the Dolphins D collapsed on the field in Miami after the incomplete pass attempt to Clay.  This wasn't in celebration, this was totally spent.  The last TD drive against the Bengals had two critical JA runs to get them to the 1.

This could be how the Bills win at the end.

Josh is a RedZone weapon throwing or running by size, speed or power and he is even more of a force at the end of a game when a defense has worn down.  I can't picture the Bills not scoring a TD by some means with three plays from the 1.

I do have faith they will get in when they are close now.  Theres too much to stop for a defense to be able to shut them down 4 plays in a row ( obviously exceptions happen).  Allen can run over or around you, Gore can bulldoze with the best of them ever, Singletary can't be seen until it's too late (watch for him to score a lot of TDs in his career because of that, Think a shorter Emmitt Smith), Smoke and McKenzie can do a lot of things and are flat out FAST.  The TEs can all catch the ball and are all big enough to be a mismatch.  Its kind of like KC, except the weapons aren't as well known yet and I would argue Maholmes is just flat out better right now.

meh - nothing against the kid but if Eli was in that game they post a more convincing win.

Jameis is who we thought he was regardless of who's coaching him.

honestly - has FSU ever produced a strong NFL QB?  and don't answer Brad Johnson, we all know what made that season go...

Charlie Ward was the best QB in NYC for a number of years... while he played for the Knicks.

  5. I'm with him, the only reason the line isn't -10.5 is the Bills are at home.  Beat the Jets by 1 point, Bungles by 4, and there looks like there wil be any sort of game against the Pats?  If the game isn't over by half time, I'll miss my guess.   The Pats will hang 20pts by half, guarantee that.  There is no pressure from this line, the corners are slow, Brady will shred them just like he always has/does/will.  If I were a betting man, I'd take the Pats with the line, currently giving the Bills Waaaay too much credit.

TNF looks a LOT better than the crap MNF schedule... there are some very important games on the slate, starting with tonight.

Ten can pretty much knock Jax out, or Jax can put Ten in a world of hurt in terms of the Wild Card race.

As Bills fans, do we want Jax 0-3 or Ten and Jax both 1-2?

Jacksonville is already imploding, if the Stache can pull out a win its all the better for us. Tenn and Houston are the more likley teams to be in the WC race, Indy could sneak up I guess, but based on today's knowledge, Jax for the win.

By the way, the NFL has ***** the bed hard on both MNF and TNF, at least 1/2 of those games are of zero interest to anybody outside of the team fanbases amd most of the decent games come early in the year when theres not much on the line.  MNF is more useless.

I'm hoping that the Darnold sickness buys him at least another year. He can blame the kicker for week one. He can blame Greggo along with the Darnold sickness for a while. Hopefully this leads to 0-5 at least. Starting out 0-5 their playoff chances will be pretty much zilch. Hopefully after that he gets some "moral victories" of some kind along the way where he can point to those things as improvements, as long as it is not at our expense of course, and sucker the Jets into giving him another year.

Exactly! We want them to come back and win 7 or so games this year.  Enough to show some "growth" and keep him there another season.  This Darnold sickness is a huge blessing for the anti Jet fans, this will buy him at least 3-4 games after Darnold gets back and probably the whole season.  He might have been fired at mid season and replaced by Williams until the end otherwise.

  8. A lot of homerism here.  Mayfield has shown it in college and last year as a rookie, he works hard, has a great arm, can make plays on the run, generally makes good decisions with the ball and WINS.   The media got behind him and the Browns, now we have a bunch of people trying to poke holes in him and say Allen is better.

Last year we heard from everyone that Allen's line was the issue, but we're willing to ignore the issues Cleveland is having now when looking at Mayfield.

We heard Josh has "it" and finds a way to win, no matter how ugly, what was the outcome of the game people are freaking out over?

Every week the excuses come in for Josh missing guys that are open. Brown was wide open, for a td, but who cares? We scored on that drive anyway.  Mayfield misses OBJ once and now he is innacurate.

The offense sputters here and they are still needing time to "gel", forget that for Cleveland.

C'mon guys, judge with the same standards and quit trying to feel like your qb is clearly better because you are tired of hearing about Cleveland.  Most of you sound like jealous school girls defending your boyfriend.  As it stands, Allen has had a mediocre game that nobody wants to talk about because it was a win and a solid game.  He made improvement from last year, thus far.  He was still picked 7th overall, its not like he should be getting a pass for not playing well, the team invested a FORTUNE to draft him, he better be good.  Mayfield had a far superior rookie season and started off this year with a pretty mediocre game one, against a team that didn't suck so much they allowed him to recover.  Then had an average game, where he shockingly beat the ***** out of the same team Allen barely scraped by in his mediocre game.

Let's breath a second and realize they are both young, both have new weapons and both were high draft picks with lofty expectations.  Both are going to wow you at times and both are going to suck at times.   It's nice that Allen has picked things up and is progressing.  Mayfield will be fine too.

  9. I hate to say it, but id do it.  He's one of, if not the best in the game right now and offenses are passing more than ever, if you want to win this year, the path is through NE.

The O is going as far as Allen does, period.  Theres nothing thats going to magically make him better, other than time.

The D needs help to be elite, this guy is an ass, but hes good.  Bring him in, pay him, set it up to be out of the deal cleanly in 3 years.

    and still no...

We have a #1 pass defense sans this clown.

Honestly do not care if a player is confident and feels strong in their game, or if they diss every QB in the league, but the attention-craving divas get under my skin.

Check that ranking after the Pats game.   Brady will drop 150 and 2tds on Wallace alone.

I think as of now it’d look like:

    1. Baker

    2. Lamar

    3. Allen

    4. Darnold

    5. Rudolph

    6. Rosen

Obviously I think this has shaped out to be a pretty darn good group of QBs. I think Allen could potentially be the best QB of that class but I never expected Lamar to be so good, what a shocker! I had to put him #2 but he could simply be hot water, who knows?

I think Lamar will crash and burn when teams follow the blueprint we saw in the playoffs.  As of right now, I can't say Rudolph is better than anyone after less than a game.

And the Patriots will have played 2 of those 3 teams. So week 4 will be the first real test for both teams

Lets be real here.. who has something to prove, last year's SB team or the 6-10 team?  It will be an indication of how much the Bills have closed the gap, but by no means are the Patriots worried about that game.  I would go so far as to say that game doesn't mean much for either team, both want to win, but its game 4 of a long season.   It will be a bit of a measuring stick for the Bills, hopefully they compete or win.

2 on the road against any NFL teams (this excludes MIA) is a tough start.

Ravens got @MIA then win a tough one home against ARZ - what are they?

NE is 2-0 against two teams that look like garbage.

I actually think Arizona is a better team then either the Jets or Giants, but the Ravens got them at home, so thats a little break in the right direction for them.

The Ravens are NO Where near as good as people have them rated.  They got Miami good.. could have easily lost to Arizona... they are going to get rocked seceral times this year.  The bluprint is out there, stop the run, make Jackson beat you through the air.  Score points early and they can't come back.

  13. I think the Giants have a couple of chances to Win, the Jets look to be in trouble.   I'm rooting for them tonight, Cleveland is way more talented and a much bigger threat to take a playoff spot.  I wouldn't be shocked to see the Jets get blown out or come out and win, tough to guess which teams will show up.

and you know what the funny thing is, EOBF, I love how no one views that as coming back and winning the game...it's only that the Jets lost it.  They had 4 turn overs, how did they lose it?  Oh yeah, because that wasn't enough against our D, and our offense then outscored them.

and btw, to Everybody Else, we won that game in the second half because of our D AND BECAUSE of Josh Allen, not in spite of him.

DC, honestly, it is a good point.  However, those games were on the road.  We were 2-6 on the road last year.  We already have two wins this year on the road and i will take that.  Throw in Miami (honestly, go ahead) and we will have 3.  I think we need just 1 more to make this season work out the way some of us hope.

BTW, did you like those victories any less because they were against the Jets and Giants?

I don't like them less because they were against those teams, the Jets is a big win for playoff hopes, so freebie or not, you need it.  Making sure the AFC record is good is going to be a big factor in the wildcard.  The Patriots get the same games, I'll chalk thise up for wins for them too. Until the Bills beat the Pats, I'm not convinced they are in the same conversation, so to me, the Bills are playing for WC.  The good part, the other divisions are more competitive and SHOULD beat up on each other more.  That could be a huge help in tie breakers.  The schedule is actually setting up well for the Bills this year.  Realistically, they should have 5 AFC wins pretty easily between the Jets, Phins and Cincinnati is not looking good.  They have some work to do elsewhere, but nobody outside of the Pats stands out as an unbeatable team.  The Pats could fall, but its asking a lot.
