  1. The lack of preseason sucks for guys like Wade and UDFA as well as late rounders.  This likely means Bass for example has no shot to prove himself in game conditions, so he will end up a wasted pick.  This does make the Diggs trade look better, assuming of course he doesn’t opt out.

It’s a sad state when these guys have literally less risk than a life ending accident, driving to the grocery store, of contracting the virus and even less of real consequences, but are they are “worried” about the season.  This is some media spread paranoia and union bull#### all wrapped into one.   Then again, maybe all those concussions really have started to take a toll...

He'd have to learn to wait for his blocks and know where sticks are but yea he has potential especially as TE since he lost a lot of weight and doubt he wants to get it back.

I wonder if he is still strong enough to carry Hyde like a sack of potatoes still?

I guarantee he’s still strong enough to throw 225 over his shoulder and run.  That is one athletically gifted man, if he wanted to come back to the team in any form, I would be all for it.  That said, I hope he goes home and enjoys life for a couple years at least, he definitely has earned it.

He can’t now. That’s why it was such a dumb decision. Next year the tag is projected at $37.7M and then $54.2M the following year. They are going to have to make a pretty compelling offer to get Dak to turn down $37.7M and then a chance to go to FA. Otherwise they’ll have to pay him the unheard of $54.2M. If they would have just went to 4 years and $140M or something the deal probably would have gotten done. Now they are looking at 2 years $69.1M and him entering FA or paying another $54.2M for 1 year. It was a massive mistake by the Cowboys.

But, was it? Take a look at SB winning teams and look at the RESOUNDING number of them that have QBs on a rookie deal or way under market value, then compare to the ones that have paid their QB the big deal.

Looking back 10 years, you have multiple Brady Championships, where he was grossly under paid, the only ones remotely arguable are Denver and that’s really more to do with a crazy D that was all on their rookie deals. Go way back and find the young Aaron Rodgers before he got the super deal and the same for Breese.   You have to have a TEAM to win, that’s created by getting more value than you are paying.  Right now they have paid out a ton and if they lock in Dak, they have 60% of their cap tied into less than 10 guys, it’s not going to work.   The ONLY justification for paying him what he wants is this is your only window before complete tear down and even with that, you hold the cards for 2 years.

The Bills window is this year and next or they have to replace Allen.  If he can’t step up, they will have to draft the next guy.  They can’t pay him 35M for mediocre play and keep all the pieces around him.   Thus far he isn’t even in the conversation for a top 10 QB, and outside of Buffalo he’s looked at as bottom half of the starters.  Yet if they want to go forward with him (assuming he has some increased success) it’s going to be 35M plus.  He’s not that kind of difference maker.  We are here talking about a 3rd round QB who, regardless of Buffalo sentiment, has had a far better start to his career and the argument is they shouldn’t pay him.

The NFL as a whole has been nauseating and taking the fun out of the game by injecting agendas and politics.  The Redskin debacle is just one more straw. When polls showed less than 25% of the people offended why did they buckle. Why does the minority control the majority and why are we pandering to every asshat that has an opinion.  That just gives the athletes more power to assert their own beliefs all over the public. STFU and play the game. That's what you are paid to do.

If I ran around my office using my position as a conduit of agenda, they'd ride me out and lock the door behind me. That's what needs to happen to the NFL. Turn off the mic, STFU and play the game before you lose your TV audience too.  In a season where I should be the most excited in almost 20 years, I find myself battling to remain interested (in anything other than the Buffalo Bills)  Luckily, we've had no loudmouth idiots spouting off on this team, which gives me hope.

Well said.  It’s obscene at this point, the white “W” on the Wisconsin Badgers uniform now has to be black?  REALLY?!  We now have to play the “black National Anthem”, interesting, I guess I wasn’t notified of the separate Country of America for black people.  Sprite says the American dream forgot the black dream?  Seriously?  Other people of all colors still come from all over the world with nothing and not knowing the language and make themselves great lives, but blacks can’t participate in working for the American dream.  Yeah, OK.  The message being put out now is equality through segregation, way to blow up 60 years of progress.  Soon they will tear down MLK statues because he worked with white people.

I am holding out hope, but I swear, if they announce the playing of “The Black National Anthem” before week one, I’m done with the NFL for good.   Enough pandering, check with Nike and DSG on how well it works out when you choose to cave to Liberal BS, something funny happens when you discriminate against Americans, you lose.  The NBA and LeBron already lost me when they hushed the Rocket’s VP for saying He supported Hong Kong, because that would hurt their wallet, but they can’t shut up about free black people being oppressed in the US.  Yeah, ok, all about principle, right?  No, you don’t care about oppression, you care about what you perceive will make you money.

so glad you said this Doc, not sure why everyone focuses on Ginn when Olsen had nearly 1,200 yards that year and the record was indicative of a bad division and soft conference, heck look at each games breakdown, one could argue the D dragged them to that record more than Cam.

the year before the Panthers won that division @ 7-8, and the year after they were 6-10 (4th),  that was hardly sustained dominance through Cam or the team.

dont get me wrong, Cam is the quintessential athlete, his ability is far above most QB, he just lacks focus and that’s the key at the end of the day, focus and skill will drive the athlete greatness, in this case, I don’t put him in the greatness category, even if we look at that year alone.

however, focus and skill can overcome the absence of athleticism, We have current examples of that today in the NFL.

Notice, I said THREAT, not most productive.  Olsen scares no one, he’s a really good TE, but Ginn was the only guy who could actually hit the home run.  Cam carried that team and it’s not a question.

It was actually Greg Olsen.  And that was 5 years ago.

yes that was 5 years ago and Olsen was the steady guy, not the big hitter.

  6. It’s funny, my initial reaction was, “crap, they are back”, and I still think that COULD be the case.  If he is healthy and can go full out, they are going to be trouble.  Remember, Cam’s biggest threat was Ted Ginn and he won 15 games in a year.  He’s everything we are hoping Allen can become when he’s healthy.

The question is, is he healthy?  If so, can he stay healthy?

    The "actual" list:

    1. Nuke

    2. Thomas

    3. Evans

    4. Hill

    5. Julio

    6. Allen

    7. Adams

    8. OBJ

    9. Diggs

    10. Golladay

You can move 6-10 however you want.

    But 1-5 is correct.

I can’t agree with Julio that low, he’s the best talent in the league, ring him for injuries, but nobody is a better pure WR talent.   Also, I think Hopkins is the better talent, but Thomas had the best seasons WR has ever had with a back up for 5 games and a 40 yr old an, not saying Breese isn’t great, but he’s not the man he was.  Really hard to argue against what Thomas did.

  8. Love the talent, but the pick and money isn’t viable on this roster.  They have 5 guys who are all making good money and are good players.  To bring him in, you have to get rid of 2 and give up a premium pick and rely more on Eppenesa to be ready to role as a rookie.  While I think Murphy is out, you would also have to look at Hughes going too, I don’t see it happening.

Contracts for the D have been set up to work with Allen, the new contracts end with his, so they have the ability to either blow it up and start over if he busts or let a bunch of Vets go to sign him.  With such a huge question mark, it’s tough to go pay big money to another guy, especially when you have to decide on Tre, Dawkins, Milano etc who all will be paid a hefty premium or have to be replaced with pretty high picks.

JA, with no votes at all, wasn't even in the top half of NFL starting quarterbacks.  It's good to know, though, that games aren't played in the imaginations of a motley assembly of fifty or so NFL employees.

The voters included NFL scouts.  Scouts are experts in college football.  I wonder how well they keep up with the development of professional players.

The voters also include NFL players.  So I wonder how much does a special teamer from the Saints know about AFCE quarterbacks.

The voters also include NFL execs.  And here I wonder how much the VP of Communications in Seattle knows about Josh Allen.

Just because a guy has a job in the NFL doesn't mean he has an expert, comprehensive knowledge of all the players and can accurately project their play in 2020.

I have said it here before and just to make sure it’s heard, outside of Buffalo, Allen is still looked at for what he is, a project.  He’s not even in the conversation for top 10, it’s not even close.  He’s right where Turbiski was after year 2, the team won mostly inspire of him, with a handful of wow plays. If you aren’t blinded by Buffalhope, then you see it. Everyone here claiming Dak sucks because he has everything going for him and they can’t win the big games, in the next breath claimed you had to give Allen weapons for him to shine.  It’s insane.   He will have to step up or step out this year, no more excuses, you can’t have the improvement on hitting short passes at the cost of missing everything down field, that’s not how that works.  The COMPLETE game has to start showing up.

  10. Unfortunately for KC, this means their window to win another championship just closed, it’s now and that’s that.  They won’t be able to retain a lot of their talent, they have way too many big contracts already.  It’s going to be a Green Bay type of deal in short order.

Dak should be offering Maholmes and his agent some commission for the extra money they just made him.

To me, this makes this year Allen’s absolute do or die year.  If he can’t prove himself to be an elite QB, you have to look to the draft this coming year to replace him.  You can’t commit 25+MM to him for year 5 if he’s not there after this year and you sure as hell cant be tossing 35MM plus for him annually at this level of performance.   The worst thing to happen could be another year like last year where he flashes, but never puts it all together for more than a half.  He’s got to show mastery of the fundamental throws this year and bring back his dual threat ability to make him worth keeping.  If that doesn’t happen, you can’t lock up your salary cap for what he brings.

Prescott needs to decide whether he wants the most he can get or winning championships because likely he won't get both. Eating up the cap that much will limit the talent Dallas can out around him.

Who looked better when we played last year? No contest it was Allen.

Who would anybody outside of Buffalo say is the FAR better QB?  Dak and its not close.

  12. All the people here arguing Dak sucks seem to think there's no way the Bills can let Allen walk.  Hysterical.  Allen isn't even in the conversation  ( outside of Buffalo) to be a top 10 QB, most think hes bottom 10 to be clear, but Dak sucks.

Look Dak is better than average and far from elite, but as a guy who hasn't made ***** yet, I'd be holding out for every penny too.  If Dallas won't give it to him (btw their leverage is gone after tagging him) then fine, gef tagged again next year and pay him 37M, then try to ask him to take less for longer.. the ball is in his court, why flinch?

  13. He's going to be the best player we got from this draft and it won't be close.  The guy has Leveon Bell potential.  Epenesa was good value, but Moss will be boss, Singletary better be on notice.

TE is the only question now - and if Knox can just get rid of the drops he can join the list of plus-players on this team!  Hopefully someone bought him a jugs machine for his house!

Knox had a concentration problem, not a hands issue, I for one think he will be absolutely fine with catching the ball this year.  This will be the year of JuggerKnox.

  14. I called this a solid option for Dalton, if for no other reason than putting tape together behind a good line with great weapons, hope to pull a Foles/Tannehill.  His hope has to be getting a lot of preseason action to show he still has it, Dak either holds out or gets hurt, he gets to play with a stud cast and hopefully earns a big contract next year.   Good move on his part.

The only other places that made sense for a shot to earn a contract from the #2 role was going to be the Browns, Bills, Texans, Bucs, Steelers, Panthers or maybe Arizona.  The Pats have nothing for weapons, but they could win games, not the best spot for a QB to go to get a contract.  Browns and Bills both have weapons and a young qb, so injury risk is pretty low and both are pretty pot committed to their guy, so your not taking the job.  Texans, Watson gets dinged up a lot, but no Hopkins and Bellicheck wannabe over there. Bucs and Steelers are banking on old men, but good teams. Panthers are ok, Teddy hasn't played a full season in years, always a chance of injury, Arizona has mobile and tiny qb, stacked w weapons and qb friendly system, I'd go there, but have to bet on Murry getting hurt there too.

    All things considered,

Id go Bucs, but theres a cap problem.

So Arizona and Dallas are next on my list.

Whos interested and willing to pay?

And here we are in Dallas.

  15. I see a lot of Brady in college in him.  He beats you with intelligence and average everything else.  Drew Henson was the golden boy in that era that never could take it away from Brady.  From took out 2 other higher rated, more athletic QBs for his job.  He has pretty good awareness, an accurate ball and average NFL arm strength.  If you look around, the all time greats we have watched, Brady, Breese, Manning, all pretty much innthe same mold, average arms, accurate, beat you with their head.   I am certainly not saying he will be anywhere near them, but I do think he can eventually start in the right system.   Last year he got happy feet and wasn't as good as the past because of it, if that sticks with him, hes done before he starts, but if he gets back to confidence in the pocket, you could have anything from a good backup to a Kirk Cousins level starter ( and in a highly unlikely scenario, something better).  This is the type of thing you can dream of in a 5th round pick.  If he flops, oh well.  At least it wasn't  high pick.

And to think we could have had AJ Green or Julio Jones... wtf

Either would have been great to have along with all the other studs that were picked after him.  That said, he did have an all-pro season, so it wasn't the talent that was the issue.  Also, when he came out, people raved about his character and he was seen as the safest pick.  Goes to show you what money and bad influences can do to people.
