That’s too bad, it was a GREAT punt, for anyone, not just bc it was a TE who had t done it in the pros at all. Carried 62ish yards with height.

If this is anything more than a mentor role, I give up. McD and his “system” being “too difficult” for players to grasp without years in it, tells me everything I need to know at this point. For one, it only works when the other team screws up and the real competition doesn’t screw up enough (playoffs) when it matters. Two, he can’t play guys who don’t fit his system instead of showing true coaching ability and making the scheme maximize the talent. This RIGHT HERE is the difference between good and great. This is why Belicheck was/is one of, if not the best coaches ever. He had a base system, but he could plug in anyone and adapt the system to fit the guys he had, letting multiple guys become stars with the Pats and duds elsewhere because he put them in a place to succeed. Here, either you fit McDs scheme or you’re another wasted draft pick. It’s ludicrous. Simplicity is the mark of genius. Any idiot can make something complicated, it takes real intelligence to make the difficult simple. I give McD credit where it’s due, but if he won’t change this stupid system, this team will always come up short. You defined the problem, why can other teams make it work, and it’s impossible for McD to get guys ready?

Just Curious what were most surprising cuts NFL wide?

or it was some Belicheck-esque mind ninja moves to sneak him through to the PS by Vrable. Seriously though, draft “gurus” usually have a fair idea of the top 50 players, beyond that, what NFL GMs see is pretty different. Even the top 50 is a bit of a stretch, for example, I don’t believe I saw a single mock with Sanders not in the 1st round this year. In watching his highlight package, I thought the kid was as good as anyone coming out as a passer, but as always his name was the biggest reason anybody knew him. My guy to watch was/is Dart. He’s Josh Allen light in my eyes, he could be that guy that straps a franchise to his back and takes it next level, or he might be Mitch Trubiski, glad I don’t have to pin my job on which one he will be, but he would have been my pick of the QB class this year, maybe I’m missing something with Ward, but I don’t see “it” with him. I like to think I should have stayed on course and ended up in a front office somewhere, it seems like my 20 minute evaluations of most guys is just as accurate, if not more so than a lot of paid professional talent evaluators haha. That said, I only count the ones I was right on and I haven’t paid close attention to college ball in ~10 years so maybe (definitely) I’m giving myself too much credit for my skills, much like the guys who sit around writing mock drafts all day. To me, he’s a classic case of being in the wrong era. He likely would have gotten a shot 30 years ago. Today, he’s just not dynamic enough. 😂 valid point. I do think if they hadn’t strapped themselves with the Samuel/Moore contracts, Renfrow would already be on site at OBD, but here we are. I’d be kind of shocked if he doesn’t end up having a solid year somewhere. Seems like NYG would be a good landing spot for him. -

I know the Bills have plenty at slot, but I’d take him, he’s a nice piece to have, kind of like Samuel, but more likely to be healthy. To me, he’s a classic case of being in the wrong era. He likely would have gotten a shot 30 years ago. Today, he’s just not dynamic enough. -
Were you one who lectured me on how great he was in Washington and Beane was a genius for stealing him in FA?
-
Where’s all the guys who argued Forrest was a starter?
-
But but but, he got a 6th round pick right! So many bad contracts signed, it’s insane, but Beane is a God and don’t you dare say otherwise or you will be burned at the preverbal stake here.

It’s pretty clear they value holding more than punting.

He is, but what do you genuinely expect out of a guy who is basically an emergency player? He didn’t live up to his draft hype, but he’s a good returner, mediocre WR and could be used as an emergency RB if push came to shove. I don’t know who makes more sense for them, but it’s basically him or Coddrington for the returner/emergency position player IMO. I don’t care to see either out there aside from returns, but if I HAD to have one, I’d rather it be Shenault, Coddrington is just not good at CB and WILL get burned. In an ideal world, you get a guy like Ty Johnson as the returner, who has a clear place on the team already and you don’t have to use a roster spot on a guy that’s really only doing one thing for you. Why they don’t take that approach is beyond me, it’s not like Ty is getting to so many reps at RB that he couldn’t do both.

Eric Dickerson Claims Teams Were Told To Not Draft Shedeur Sanders
DCofNC replied to H2o's topic in The Stadium Wall
I can see that being 100% true. The players COULD really hurt the owners if they band together in a big way. All the other leagues show it, either you have the best talent or you don’t have much of anything. If players get it in their heads they are the show, the owners are going to have to give up more money, they don’t want to do that. -
No, are you worth millions? Just wondering, are frog ***** considered a delicacy?
-
Oh does it? When he drafted 1st overall and got Bruce , Peyton, Thurman in what round? Andre in what round? Beebee? Now the real fun, what round did he draft Lofton or Bisquit? Get your facts straight. You want to argue Harrison or Freeney or Wayne? Now you have a case. Otherwise you are a Bills drunk fool. Later picks DO COUNT, it’s the only reason he’s employed. My issue is the lack or elite talent. Nobody would question him if he was a Roseman type who was hitting on all the 1st round picks, the problem is he wastes pick after pick when the pool is deep. Don’t tell me you are an elite talent evaluator when you have Elam 5 rounds higher than Benford when Benford has the job 2 weeks into training camp.
-
So you mean to tell me, you believe he did more than follow their board in the 3rd, 4th and 6th rounds? Or he knew he was getting top players at that point in the draft and didn’t bother to pick them in the earlier rounds because he wanted to pay guys who can’t make the field more money? What is it? It’s not pure luck, but if he’s so great, why has he only found one outstanding player in the first round, 1 above average RB in the second round and 1 let’s call him “top 10” RTs in the third in 8 tries. Yes he’s hit on later round picks, that’s great, but why can’t he identify real talent early on? He’s failed miserably at it and quite honestly, if this board were running the first 2 rounds, the team probably would be more talented at this point. The only thing he has to hang his hat on is Allen. It’s the same ***** Pollian did, he got a QB and built mediocre teams around them, forcing the QB to be flawless for the team to win, yet took all the credit for squeaking out a couple championships. Do you think Bellicheck is a great GM because he found Brady in the 6th round? I’m willing to bet you don’t because it’s obvious he wasn’t and the team was dog crap without the QB.
