Ouch, I actually played old Drew this week. Anybody against the 49ers pass defense is a good play at this point.

At least we can look at the points scored and yardage being produced and know that if the passing game does turn around 20 points per game isn't out of the question. -
2004 First 3 Games 100 Yards Rushing Per Game 174 Yards Passing Per game 10 offensive points (including PAT) Per Game 2005 First 3 Games 124 Yards Rushing Per Game 100 Yards Passing Per Game 13.6 offensive points (including PAT) Per Game So the offense averaged 50 more yards a game last year and 3.6 less points. Call me crazy but I see JP improving on that 100 yards substantially as the season progresses. As it stands were scoring 13.6 points a game with literally no passing game. It’s early folks, were 1-0 in the AFC, and contrary to popular opinion pets heads are not falling off.

I think Willis himself feels the same way, at least that’s what it looked like after the week 1 throw to Peters. I'm all about what works, and if it's a QB sneak for a couple inches so be it. But if your going to make a call that shows little faith in your offensive line, and RB, you better make it.
-
I think that’s a pretty accurate assessment. JP has showed inaccuracy but some of that is due to lack of experience. Some people will say accuracy is something he should just have, and it doesn't matter that it' only his third game. To a point that’s true, but not fully understanding coverage schemes will make a QB hesitant, and that will certainly effect his accuracy. As for Willis I'm seeing the same things. He is a very good back, and is obviously a player that handles the RB position well. But he doesn't have the speed and explosiveness he had in college. Now he relies more on power, which is fine because he is a very powerful back. I'm not even about to complain about one of the best players on this team, but if you saw enough of him in college it's obvious he isn't the player he once was. I guess that just goes to show you how incredible he was at Miami, all the power in the world with 4.3 speed and elusiveness.

By all accounts Takeo ruptured his right Achilles tendon. I guess the question now is how have others in the past responded to this type of injury. Didn't Cowart tear his achilles for opener against the Saints a few years back? He probably wouldn't be the best person to look at because he also blew out his knee. Marino tore an Achilles, but again it's hard to compare him to a OLB that is known for speed. The best player to look at might be Julian Peterson. If you don't recall Peterson was also among the leagues elite, and looked at as a speed OLB. He ruptured his ACL last year, and is back starting with the 49ers this season. Anybody see enough of him to know if he is as dominant as he was prior to the injury? It would be a damn shame if this injury changes one of the best LB's the Bills have ever seen. The guy is all heart, and you know he is going to work like nobody else to come back. I just hope when he does make it back he can return to being the player we love to watch so much Get better Takeo.

Important Momentum Shifting Drive...
Mikie2times replied to YOOOOOO's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
In TC defense JS had the first down easy had he not slipped. Plenty of guys slipped yesterday including JP on the critical 4th and inches, and Willis as he broke his longest run of the day. That said Lee Evans would have probably been a better candidate to execute that play, but he certainly would have drawed more attention. -
I missed the game due to technical difficulties.

Reminded me of the game we played in Dallas when Drew was here. We stayed within a touchdown all game but that 7 points felt like 30. I watched and wished for it the whole game, but even when we got the fumbled punt at the end I just couldn't see us getting it done. -
Maybe if we had a playoff caliber team you could make the win now argument. But Holcomb is not going to come in and lead this team to the promise land. We might get some improved play but it would be at the expense of JP's future. We all want to win now, but we need to be patient, 3 games into a career is hardly enough to time judge a QB's future.

How many people still alive for your contest LA? I know I'm still in it. -
I remember thinking the same thing. We almost lost MaGee on that drive to. I know this is a crap way of looking at things but did TKO's injury happen after we allowed a first down? I watched the game but can’t remember if that was the case. Either way it's a very depressing loss for the Bills and the fans.

The NFC sucks theory is carrying over from last year. In the meantime we might just have played the two teams that seem the most viable contenders to the Eagles at this point.

I'm not giving up on JP at all. This is what I thought we would get early on so I can't say I'm surprised in anyway. But nobody knows for sure how he will handle this situation and the criticism he will receive. He has never experienced this before, and it's got to be a pretty big adjustment to go from everybody’s media darling to what will be happening this week in Buffalo. -
Julian Peterson ruptured his last season, he also plays OLB. While I know he is back starting this year I haven't seen enough of him this year to know if he is back to 100%.
-
He's going to get his, that’s why he's so incredible to watch. But with any great player you just hope to limit how effective they are the best you can.

Your being rational though Kelly. I just worry that his expectations of himself are so far out of whack that he can't look at this in a rational way. -

I posted on that a couple times I just don't know if JP is mature enough to struggle. He was so confident, and it' hard to imagine after what he has said that he has any inclination of how to handle what’s going on right now. He was the toast of the town, and now some are turning on him. He needs to pick himself up because if he appears to be a broken man it will really cripple the rest of the team’s confidence. -
I'm not sure if that LB would make the tackle on Vick, like you said he is one of the most elusive players in the league. But I'm positive that a player being blocked with all of his momentum going forward has zero chance of tackling him. I just think we played to his strengths today by forcing the issue and making the plays breakdown. JG was emphatic about playing more aggressive on defense after last week. Perhaps last week was a good time to play that role, but this week it sure didn’t appear to be.
-
I was pissed about that all game. I mean how many times did we give Vick natural running lanes by coming in uncontrolled on the blitz? I understand JG likes to play an attacking defense, but today we would have been much better off using some of those blitzers as spies.

JP-Holcomb-Offensive Line-TD
Mikie2times replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I'm not disputing that, my point is it really wouldn't matter with the way the rest of the team is playing. -
If any team including the Colts passed on Leinhart with the first pick the GM should be fired. Look at what Palmers doing, and Leinhart is even better then him.
