none of that has to do with the question asked though right? Both teams have consolation banners. Can Newton doesn’t have a Super Bowl ring.

If the question is which team is built better I would go with the one that is built for sustain success over the one year wonder.

now, if you want to argue that Josh Allen might be the sole reason why the bills are built for sustained success  rather than being a one year wonder, then I probably agree. but regardless of the reason, the bills are obviously the better built team.

Beane has had more time, more control, and we are not as good in nearly any area. In addition to this we are taking the form of what could be considered to be the wrong design. The fact that Allen keeps the boat floating so it never actually sinks is a curse as much as it is a blessing.

I think being better "built" would imply the philosophy is different. It's the same philosophy. Cam and Josh are the same archetype, Josh is just a lot better. They were enamored with big slow WR prospects in the draft, first Benjamin and then Funchess. Their plans fell apart at WR because Benjamin got hurt and Funchess sucked.

They too brought in a former star DE (Allen) at the end of the line to try to put them over the hump.

They invested heavily in big mean with 11/12 top 3 picks invested in OL or Defensive front 7 between 2012 and 2015

    It's remarkably similar

I think it’s debatable whether or not the 2015 team was better than all of the bills teams we’ve seen since 2020. What’s not debatable is that that 2015 panther team was a one year wonder whereas the team that McDermott and Beane have built here is a team that has lasted as a Super Bowl contender for four seasons and counting now.

This current bills team has not made the Super Bowl like the 2015 Panthers, but they’ve also been eliminated three out of the last four years by the current Chiefs Dynasty. I’m not so certain the 2015 Panthers wouldn’t have seen a similar fate in the same circumstance.

The Panthers 15 – 1 season was book ended by two losing seasons.

would you rather a team that was a one year wonder and went to and loss a Super Bowl or a team that’s competed to contend for a Super Bowl every season and winning the most games of any franchise over the current four-year span with the exception of a team that’s currently in the midst of a dynasty?

I would rather we didn't build the Houston Oilers and I wouldn't hang up my consolation trophies just because another team was good.

The age of posters is showing. In the early 90's we were better than the '15 Panthers.

I felt a good mature man like yourself could see the comparison was about the current Bills and not the 90’s. Next time I will post about our AFL championship teams compared to the Carolina Panthers, because that makes sense

Very nice.  It seems that most of the commentary on Coleman is based on his one season of FSU tape, but what do people think about his Michigan State tape?  Anyone know why he transferred?

Coleman also said on one of the videos that he regarded being at Michigan State as a two year sentence and that he was a southern boy at heart.  Not sure what he will feel about Buffalo in November, December and January.

Folks blaming the backup QB at Miami are talking like Jordan Travis missed half the season.  Travis played 10.5 games.   He only missed 2.5 games that Coleman played in (Coleman did not play in the Orange Bowl).

He was excellent at MSU and had a ton of interest when he decided to transfer. He went to a Spartans BB game earlier this year wearing an Izzo jersey. He talks fondly about MSU and the MSU alum I know speak very highly of him. My closest friend texted me about him right away. Said he was one of the best athletes at WR he had seen play there. I said better than Plaxico? He said Plaxico isn't close.

He has a chance to be special.

  5. Dorsey was the QB coach, McD was the defensive coordinator, Beane was Assistant GM. They went to the Super Bowl that year losing to the Broncos.  Looking at the roster two thing concerned me. They seem to be constructed in similar fashion as we have been. Specifically the WR neglect seems pretty apparent in the make up of both teams.  They seem to be MUCH more talented than any version of the Bills we have seen thus far. It's nearly at every position. Beane has had a good amount of time working on our roster. This was a very good Carolina team but I don't like that it appears we have a deficit against them in nearly every position.

QB - This was Cams MVP season, but still would rather have Josh

    Cam Newton

RB - Both went to the Pro Bowl that year, Stewart was actually a really good back at that time. This is close but nod to Carolina.

    Jonathan Stewart

    Mike Tolbert

WR - It's possible our current WR room is better than the one they fielded in 2015 🤢. Ginn was very explosive but nobody had over 750 yards. Our WR units have been better the last few years which is really concerning as far as how Beane views the position.

    Ted Ginn Jr

    Jerricho Cotchery

    Devin Funchess

    Corey Brown

TE - Olson was an absolute monster. Very high hopes for Kincaid but hard to put him in Olson's class at this stage

    Greg Olson

OL- Two all pros and Michael Oher. Nod to Carolina

    T Michael Oher

    LG Andrew Norwell

    C Ryan Kalil

    RG Trai Turner

    RT Mike Remmers

DL - Short was a pro bowler. This was the young version of Star. I would say DL is pretty close.

    DE  Charles Johnson

    DT Star Lotulelei

    DT Kawann Short

    DE Jared Allen

LB - One of the best LB cores of the decade. Not close.

    Shaq Thompson

    Luke Kuechly

    Thomas Davis

DB - When we had pre injury Tre and younger Poyer and Hyde we probably get that nod. That unit hasn't been intact for a bit though.

    CB Charles Tillman

    CB Josh Norman

    SS Roman Harper

    FS Kurt Coleman

  6. Given we have never won a game from more than 4 points behind in the playoffs,  I was curious how we performed against teams with winning records in the regular season.

Condition 1 Buffalo has the ball with a drive concluding under 2 minutes

Condition 2: The team they faced finished with a winning regular season record

Condition 3: Excluded the Eagles (2023) and Chiefs (13 seconds) Multiple lead changes late. We lost these games but we took the lead on late drives. Little the offense could do.

After you remove the Eagles and Chiefs game, all 18 of the remaining games concluded based on the final score. So if we did score, we won. If we didn't score we lost. No situations left in which we scored and then lost later (outside of the 3 OT games)

    What is left.....

-18 times this situation has occurred since Allen joined the Bills. We have gone 7-11 in those games (but 5-3 over the last two years)

-Three times we have tied the game with a FG and lost in OT after having at least one possession

-In two of the games we have scored a TD and not a FG

    2018

Game winning FG Titans (9-7) Successful

Pick 6 to break Tie, Failed follow up Texans (11-5) Not Successful

    2019

    Interception, Patriots (12-4)  Not Successful

Turnover on Downs Baltimore (14-2) Not Successful

Turnover on Downs Patriots (14-2) Not Successful

Game tying FG, Failed OT Drive Houston (11-6) Not Successful

    2020

Game winning TD Rams (10-6) Successful

    2021

Turnover on Downs Titans (12-5) Not Successful

Turnover on Downs Patriots (10-7) Not Successful

Game tying FG, Failed OT Drive Tampa Bay (13-4) Not Successful

    2022

Turnover on Downs Dolphins (9-8) Not Successful

Game winning FG Ravens (10-7) Successful

Game winning TD Chiefs (14-3) Successful

Game tying FG, Failed OT Drive Minnesota (13-4) Not Successful

Game winning FG Lions (9-8) Successful

Game winning FG Dolphins (9-8) Successful

    2023

Game winning FG Chiefs (11-6) Successful

Missed FG Chiefs (11-6)  Not Successful

I’m going to watch this eventually. And I already know I’m going to hate seeing Edelman’s smug face. Christ, I hate that mother *****.

    Ya, he sucks

If Josh can resurrect Claypool’s career and make him a viable contributor than we might be better than the diminished receiving corps of the last few years.

He is probably the most talented WR on the roster. Which some might say is saying something, but he's probably one of the most talented WR's on several rosters. Sort of surprised we pursued him. Not exactly a process guy. We will see.
