Rockpile seating

I know its sounds great, but are folks not a little crazy these days....?

The NFL this weekend will begin testing a four-game plan allowing a limited number of premium seats on the field, the Daily News has learned, and will not back off conducting the study despite Friday's NBA riot at The Palace of Auburn Hills. It is the football equivalent of basketball's courtside seats and another potential lucrative revenue source that can put even more money in the pockets of the owners. One of the games will be when the Giants play the Redskins in Washington on Dec. 5. The four experimental games: Jacksonville at Minnesota on Sunday; the Giants-Redskins game; Houston at Chicago, Dec. 19; New England at Miami, Dec. 20. One source said the Patriots had experimented with field seating during the 2003 season. on field seating

A pod of dolphins circled protectively round a group of New Zealand swimmers to fend off an attack by a great white shark, media reported on Tuesday. Lifesavers Rob Howes, his 15-year-old daughter Niccy, Karina Cooper and Helen Slade were swimming 300 feet off Ocean Beach near Whangarei on New Zealand's North Island when the dolphins herded them -- apparently to protect them from a shark. "They started to herd us up, they pushed all four of us together by doing tight circles around us," Howes told the New Zealand Good Dolphins

A radio host apologized Monday for calling secretary of state nominee Condoleezza Rice (news - web sites) "Aunt Jemima," but refused to back down from his criticism that she is a "black trophy" of the Bush administration. John "Sly" Sylvester, the program director and morning personality on WTDY-AM, wrote a letter of apology to local newspapers. "I'm concerned that I have offended many African-Americans by using a crass term to describe an incompetent, dishonest political appointee of the Bush administration. I apologize," wrote Sylvester, who is white. Sylvester wrote he would not, however, apologize for criticizing Rice, saying "she has allowed herself to be used as a black trophy by an administration -So that is it, on he goes blabbering his garbage? Twenty-year veteran Damon Allen ran in two touchdowns and passed for another as the Toronto Argonauts defeated the B.C. Lions 27-19 in the Grey Cup game on Sunday night. Allen, a 41-year-old grandfather who is the CFL's all-time passing leader, scored on a pair of one-yard plunges to lead the Argonauts to their first CFL championship since they won consecutive Grey Cups in 1996 and 1997. He was named the game's outstanding player. Grey Cup

Yankees offer Pedro four years /50 mil.
millbank replied to millbank's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Thats is right about Pavano he has said he is in no hurry and will be meeting with Yankees again in December, also Oakland want to free up some money and hold the line and at first many thought that meant Barry Zito being available, but now it seems Tim Hudson may be as well , the A's taking the best offer for either one. Its said Yankees would offer Vasquez to Arizona for Johnson , but teams are learly about Vasquez because his arm action last season was at a lower angle, that made some worry he has arm problems or extreme fatigue. George will get it done one way or another... -

Yankees offer Pedro four years /50 mil.

I heard that as well, the Yankees are gambling he will not get a better offer elsewhere, that is what is interesting, with pitching is such a commodity it will be surprising if he does not get better offer. Kind of interesting also Charlie Steiner is going to leave and announce Dodger games next season and Susan Waldman is thought to be taking his place to work with Sterling. -

Have to wonder about Leiber, they were saying that he was coming along so well and he figured to be stronger annd better next season, then they decided to not pick up his option , them saying they wanted him but for less money, got to believe he can get a good deal somewhere else, thing is Yankees have been very smart about knowing when to let pitchers go. I also was hoping they signed and kept him. -

Daddy’s revenge -
George Steinbrenner can't wait until the games start to exact his revenge against the Red Sox. The Record of Hackensack (N.J.) reported yesterday that the Yankees' owner, making a swift and bold decision, has presented a four-year, $50-million offer to Pedro Martinez, according to a major league source. He and Martinez met in Tampa on Tuesday and no one expected Steinbrenner to move so quickly and dramatically. In one stunning move, The Boss has changed the winter landscape, forcing the Red Sox to make a large counteroffer and possibly prompting the Diamondbacks to speed up the process of trading Randy Johnson. Pedro offered 50 million
